Trust Me, Trust You

"You know he'd trust you with his life, for what reason I wouldn't know but he does have a strong liking to you."

You looked up at Robin, raising an eyebrow as you tapped a finger against the desk.

"I dont understand how he could trust me when he rarely, if ever, comes to see me. If anything he avoids me at all costs like he doesn't  trust me."

"Well, he's a weird and mysterious man I can't really tell you much more than that to ease your nerves."

"Easing my nerves isn't going to help me at all."

You sat back in the chair and rubbed your tired eyes, dark circles already formed from the nights you've let slip past.

"He never sends me to do anything for him and it gets so irritating to the point that I lock myself up in here. You get to go everywhere with him and what do I get to do; rot here in this office while everyone else is out getting nearly killed."

"Maybe he doesn't want you killed "

"Still Robin! Its boring locked up in here all day you know....I sit and I sit and I sit and everyone comes back to base..and then what? They all just go separate ways, no one beside you comes in here to talk to me; except MG, she'll come in sometimes and give me some rice crackers.."

The woman in front of you crossed her arms over her chest, tilting her head to the side as half of her face was shadowed by the hat she wore.

"Well I don't know what I'm supposed to do for you, I'm trying to make you feel better.."

"Well its not working but I appreciate the effort.."

You turned in the chair and looked back down at the paperwork.

"I don't know what you want me to do..."

You heard her sigh before the door to the room closed, causing you to look up momentarily before sighing down at the paperwork in front of you.

Ease your nerves, sure. Ease them.

How are you supposed to do that? Can't even go anywhere because why?

You didn't understand it at all..and you felt to tell people that you really couldn't understand it. Not one bit.

You looked up at the door as the handle turned, MG standing in the doorway as she munched on her ricecracker.

"Zero wants you in his office. I dunno if you did anything but I hope you didn't. I like you."

"Thanks..?"

You stood up and walked by her, looking back once as she gave a little wave as she continued to nom on her cracker.

You looked forward and exhaled deeply, a heavy feeling in your chest as your eyes looked to the floor and watched your feet move forward.

You casted a wary glance around and finally to the door you were about to enter through.

Raising a hand you knocked and stood back, waiting for the okay before stepping forward into the room.

"Who is it?"

"Its Y/n.."

"Mm. Come in then I don't have very long to talk.."

You pressed your hand on the door and opened it, stepping in slowly as you carefully closed it behind you.

The smell of smoke wafted through the room as you saw the glowing ember of his cigars end in the dimmed light, sitting at his desk hunched over a stack of papers.

"What did you need me for sir?"

There was no reply at first, his lips cemented in a frown as you watched some smoke exhale through his mouth while he sat back in the chair to cast a glance to you.

"Why do I need a reason to talk to you?"

"Well you're usually busy so I just thought you'd have some kind of important thing to tell me since its taking time out of your working schedule.."

"I don't care about my working schedule; its my working schedule I can prioritize whatever I want on top of it."

"Oh...well...what was it you wanted to talk to me about?"

"Well.."

The chair creaked slightly as he stood and took the cigar from his lips in between his fingers, crushing the small nub of tobacco into the ashtray on the table.

"For starters, I was a tad lonely and that Robin can get very annoying to talk to. She's around me so much, its almost boring."

He took a few steps forward, stopping at the edge of his desk to lean back on as he raised an eyebrow.

"So, I asked to talk to you instead since I have a few things to discuss with you..a few issues brought up to me."

You felt your cheeks heat up, you hoped he wouldn't be able to see the color on your cheeks if there was any to be seen.

"Oh? What kind of issues are you referring to sir?"

"Its to my understanding that you've recently talked to Nico Robin, so she has came back here with information about a few complaints."

"Oh..complaints..."

You swallowed and fiddled with the end of your shirt, keeping your head up as you looked at his towering form above you.

"Yes, we will address the first one rather quickly. "

He turned and shuffled around in the desk drawer, pulling out another cigar to stick between his teeth and light.

"The complaint about you being my little office minion hm?"

"I guess so sir.."

"Mhm. You guess. Well, for one I don't quite like that you just sit there all day either, but its best if you're not to be associated with this company at all. I don't need you getting sent to prison along with the rest of us just because you sit there and do paperwork all day. And furthermore I just don't like sending certain people on missions. Like you for example."

"Why is that sir? Am I not a good enough fighter."

"Oh no, I've seen you at times. Unflinching. I know a woman with a killer instinct when I see one, so no I don't think you a incapable weak woman, but a woman that can take care of herself. But I make it my job to make sure you don't have to kill imbeciles when I can do it for you.."

"Oh.."

You looked down and rubbed the back of your neck, clearing your throat as you shuffled your feet together.

"Well-"

"That isn't all I wanted to talk to you about. Miss Y/n."

He turned and walked back to his chair, sitting down as he beckoned you forward.

You took a step forward, coming up to the side of his desk as he leaned forward.

"You don't think that I trust you hm?"

"I..I just can't come to terms with why you'd trust someone who hasn't really talked to you in such a carefree way.."

"Ah."

He grinned, his teeth showing just slightly as a glint came through his eye.

"Well, you see, I know a lot of people here In a supposed carefree manner. But I think it takes a special someone to trust from no experience."

"Then why do you trust me?"

"Because I know that you know better than to do anything that may upset or aggravate me..."

You crossed your arms.

"Well obviously you're my boss.."

"Quite true, but if I weren't your boss, and I told you what to do, I'd have a feeling that you'd still bend to my willing because you're reliable..."

"Thank you sir..."

"And you're still hesitant."

He blew smoke up and leaned back, reclining as he outstretched his legs onto the desk.

"Yes sir...I'm just wary.."

"Be wary no longer..come..."

He stood and sat the cigar down, walking out of the room as you followed behind closely.

"Where are we going sir?"

"Just follow."

You did so, and he turned, you trailing behind before he entered a room and sat down, watching you step in behind him.

"Close the door."

"Yes sir."

You closed it, walking over to sit by him.

"What is the purpose of this sir?"

"The purpose. The purpose is to show you that I do in fact trust you...with my life even.."

You watched him turn a dial on the coffee table, blinking as a drawer shot out of the side with a small pistol in it.

"Sir...?"

"Hush."

You sat quietly as he picked it up, flicking your eyes back and forth between him and the gun.

"Here, take it."

You looked down at it as he held it out, looking up at him once before taking it in your grasp.

"Why do i-"

"Just trust me."

He leaned forward, forehead pressed against the tip of the gun as his eyes held yours.

"Shoot me."

"Wh-what."

"I said shoot me. You can do it right now and not have to be locked up in that office for the rest of your days."

You hesitated, blinking frantically as you looked at him with big eyes.

"But sir I couldn't shoot you..."

"Of course you can, you have a gun don't you?"

"Yes sir, but i-"

"Go on then and shoot me its not that hard to do."

"But-"

"Y/n I said to do it-"

"No! No no no.."

You sat the gun aside and rubbed your eyes.

"No I don't...want to shoot you..I..can't.."

"Why is that?"

You looked up at him, some tears pricking the corner of your eyes.

"Because I can't..I...I'm so dumb.."

You stood and frantically made your way to the door, but before you could open it, his arm was wrapped around your waist tightly pulling you back.

"Tell me why you can't."

"I couldn't I'd sound so naive.."

"Tell me. I order you to tell me."

You closed your eyes and let your eyes drop to the floor.

"I just....you're my boss and.."

"And..?"

"And I...I care...I care for you... I don't know why I care for you...you don't ever try and do anything to tell me you care about me or my existence."

"And you yet still persisted with these...ah, feelings hmm?"

"Mhm.."

You nodded and slipped away from his grasp, glancing back up at him with watery eyes.

"I know there's a lot of other women out there that like you, a lot of attractive women, women you'd like...but I still think about you a lot.."

You sniffled quietly, coming up to rub your eyes again to stop the ever flowing tears in your eyes.

"And-"

"Shut up."

He raised a hand, causing your mouth to fall shut.

"Shut. Up. I..."

He rubbed his palm against his forehead, closing his eyes as he took a deep breath in.

You felt your eyes well up some more, looking down as a few dropped from your eyes.

"I'm sorry sir, I know you don't feel the same-"

"No I don't feel the same."

You felt your chest heaving as you hunched over, falling to your knees as you hung your head.

"I'm so sorry sir, I know I've made a fool out of myself in front of you, you don't have to deal with me any longer I'll stay in my office for the rest of my time here-"

"Dammit woman I said to be quiet."

You shut up, rising your eyes up from the floor to his shoes in front of you, watching as he crouched down in front of you.

"I said to be quiet so I could think...because no I Do not feel the same as you, but more I am sure.."

"Wh-what.."

"You heard me."

He sat down, your head raising as you leaned back on your knees to look at him.

"I don't quite understand sir..."

"You should...you're a marvelous young lady...and a good worker as well, why, I've been attracted to you for some time now..."

His hand reaches out to caress your cheek, causing you to flinch slightly as his large palm pressed against your cheek.

"But sir.."

"Crocodile please..."

"Crocodile...I..."

"I know..I just need to know something..miss y/n.."

You nodded, lifting a hand to cup his own.

"What is it si-Crocodile..."

"I....I trust you...you know this...but...do you trust me..."

You closed your eyes, coming up to wipe the remaining tears from your eyes.

"Yes...yes I trust you...I trust you Crocodile..."

"Are you positively sure..."

"I am positively sure..I trust you, I trust you to the ends of the earth.."

"Good.."

His other arm brought you forward into his broad chest, your cheek resting against his vest as his chin rested atop your head, a small hum rumbling from his throat.

"My queen.."
