Chapter 1: Vale's Tombstone
(A/N): So everyone picked the Neutral route, which I was going for initially. So this got a helluva lot easier to write. Also, I will make Willow the former heiress of The Schnee Company before she married Jacques. Also, this may be one of the weirdest dialogues I have ever written for a story.
Chapter 1: The Living Sword
(Y/N)'s POV
I immediately open my eyes and sat back up. The dark liquid had already disappeared like it was emptied automatically. I went into a coughing fit due to the musty air and my liquid-filled lungs. After the coughing stopped, I stood up and took a look around my resting place that I was stuck in. Well, it looks more of an exquisite room than a dark, cold tomb if you ask me.
In front of my shrine/coffin, was a fully decked out living room. A 50" inch TV with a large shelf that housed an extensive DVD collection. Black deluxe leather couches placed to watch every TV angle, a decent-sized fridge, and a coffee table in the middle. I was confuzzled, really confuzzled. Those weren't here before, and where did the furniture come from anyway?
Looking around the living room, I saw three different hallways, two in the right and one corridor in the left. Hell, there was a kitchen behind the living room. If Light and Darkness could hear me right now, just who the hell was watching over me while I slept? All I could think of is either Salem's goons, White Fang members, The Schnee mercenaries, or Ozpin's pawns doing this. Speaking of Ozpin's pawns, I wonder how Team STRQ are faring? Summer and Raven should probably have kids by now. I hope they moved on from me and lived a better life after Beacon.
Suddenly, I felt the cold breeze brushing past me. I felt chills down my spine and quickly looked down to see I was in my birthday suit. Oh great, I should probably look for the living quarters for clothes. So, I went to the left corridor. Just my luck, it was where the bathroom and the living quarters are.
I slowly walk towards the first door on the right of the corridor, with one hand covering my magnum and one hand on the doorknob. I close my eyes and hoped that no one is there to see me in this kind of state. I slowly count backward from 5 until I kick down the door to see rows of bunk beds and closets spaced in between the beds. At the end of the room, I saw four symbols that I never thought will share the same place:
Salem's Emblem
The White Fang Emblem
Beacon's Symbol
The Schnee Company Sign
"What the hell?" I said with my jaws dropped. Not only did I guess the people who have watched over me, but also at the fact that this whole thing is one big irony. Salem and Ozpin, The Schnee Company and The White Fang, they have been fighting amongst themselves ever since. For them to form a team despite each other's circumstances, they value me pretty well as a close friend. I smiled a little as Salem, Ozpin, Willow, and Sienna were able to put aside their beliefs so that I can one day live again.
Checking each closet for clothing, I manage to find a decent set of clothes before I change into it.
I then enter the bathroom to see how I look.
(This is what you are wearing currently. By the way, this is Hasselhoff as the first Nick Fury.)
"Looking good, handsome~," I said to myself, making finger guns while I fire an imaginary bullet. Well, it would be an imaginary bullet if it wasn't for one of my semblances, Light's Blessing, to activate and shoot a purple beam at my reflection. I tuck and roll out of the bathroom before any of the rays hit me and ruin my clothes.
Going back to the living room, I began to search the kitchen for food since I didn't eat anything for how many years I've been in that coffin. After searching the kitchen, I manage to find a bunch of canned food and drinks as well as several bottles of beer. I was about to explore the two remaining hallways until I realized something and ran into the bathroom once again and looked at my face.
It was smooth like silk, and my scars aren't as deep as they used to look. That's when I realized that I'm young again. Looking at the surprisingly young face, I was probably at least 17 1/2 years of age. I was jumping up and down inside until I realize that being 17 means I can't drink in a bar.
"Fuckin' hell, this is bullshit!" I shout at the top of my lungs. Then, I had a big brain moment.
"Oh shit! At least nobody would recognize me until I told them that it's me or I wield Harbinger myself. Speaking of Harbinger, where the hell is she?"
I walked outside the bathroom and went to the first hallway to the right. Again, it was the layout of the one in the left hall. But I found a duffle bag in the process, which is a win for me if I need to travel Remnant once again. Then, I began to search the last hallway and ran into a door with at least five padlocks and chains wrapping around the door.
I looked at it and said:
One by one, I shoot down the padlocks and destroy the chains wrapping around the door with my aura beams. I also shot the doorknob because I prefer kicking the door down than being a normal human being, which I am not.
I kicked down the door to this ominous-looking room and saw boxes of dust, gun parts, sword parts, and other parts as well as metal ingots, chest plates, helmets, leather sheaths, and other building parts scattered across the room. Then I realized that this was an armory.
"Okayyyyyy, so where's my Harbinger?" I said as I start looking for my sword until a ghostly feminine voice called my name.
"(Y/N)..."
Startled, I began calling out the voice.
"Who's there?!" I shout across the empty room.
"Look to your right, and come closer~." The voice replied. I look to my right to see a pretty suspicious tomb with runes and markings littering the old block.
I then proceed to walk towards the tomb. Once I walked up to it, I slowly reached for the makeshift cover. I quickly opened the tomb to be greeted by a fast and high pitched voice.
"HEY(Y/N)!!!" The ghostly and mysterious voice, now a fast and high pitched voice, greeted me. I yelped and jumped a few feet back while the voice started laughing.
I got up and look at the tomb to see my sword.
(Your sword except that its 10wider, twice as long, and the guard of your sword has a large, round lens at the center of it.)
Harbinger, The Living Sword, laughing at my expense.
"(In German) Oh, du verdammte Schlampe... (Oh, you fucking bitch...)"
A bit mad at that, I grabbed her with my left hand and hit the large, round glass with my right hand.
"OW!" Cried Harbinger. Who expressed pain despite being built from stronger metal.
"What was that for?!" She asked I feel like she's pouting while asking that question.
"Oh, I don't know, startling me after sleeping for how many goddamn years, Salem Jr," I said with a hint of smugness in the last part. Harbinger gasped as if she was offended by my remark. The glass began to turn blood red, and the sword began to vibrate.
"Excuse me?! I am Salem's OPPOSITE personality! How many times should I repeat myself before you understand that I. AM. NOT. THAT. BITCH." Harbinger ranted. The glass begins to turn blue, and an animated pupil appeared at the center of the lens and looked at me.
I began to clean my ear while staring at your sword's "eyes." After clearing the wax off your ears, I casually spoke to her.
"You done yappin'? Or are you ready to head out again?" I asked her, her animated pupils widen.
"Y-You're not mad at me?" She stuttered. I sigh at this. Things never change, I guess.
"Look, we've been over this. Literally like a thousand times now. I can never be mad at you. You are Salem's last gift to me before she went rogue for my "sake." You are Salem's hopes and dreams that she can never express again. That's why she, well, we made you." I finished, thinking about Salem's emblem back at the living quarters.
Um, (Y/N). You okay?" My sword asks. I shook out of my stupor and took a deep breath. "Yeah, I'm good. I'll be fine." I replied, somewhat hesitantly. Harbinger saw through this, and she shakes herself through your grip.
"I know you were thinking about Salem, but we have other things to worry about now. I have to catch you up on current events, go to Ozpin again, and meet Sienna while we both work for both sides. Just like old times." Harbinger said with excitement. I lightly chuckle at her childish behavior.
"Well, before we do that. I want to take a couple of things with me." I said, and proceed to get a few things from the armory.
A Few Minutes Later...
After packing up a bunch of experimental Dust-hybrid bullets & explosives (Bullets that uses dust as a replacement for gunpowder, infusing the shell with whatever element it's in.) as well as the schematics and a bunch of food and drinks. I also packed my favorite gun, Old Faithful.
(Insert flashbacks of you slapping the gun's barrel in a thug's face before aiming at his face and pulling the trigger, blowing his head off)
"Are you ready to head out now?" Harbinger asked. "Yep," I replied.
"Alright, (Y/N)! Open that door and meet some people!" Harbinger shouts in excitement. 'What an extrovert thing to say.' I thought as I kick down the door as a reply to her enthusiasm. The living sword violently shakes through the leather sheath as an expression of shock.
"What the hell, (Y/N)?! You know that there are..." Harbinger said as her voice died down when she saw what is in front of her.
"Um. Harbinger. Do you know what happened here?" I asked her casually, and a bit of curiousness.
"Well, to put things more straightforwardly. This is the city of Mountain Glenn. Vale's first serious attempt on expansion, and a serious attempt to find you."
"Wait, why are they trying to find me in the first place?" I asked.
"Well, does the statue of you over there count?" She asks me.
"Wait, what do you- Oh."
You look up ahead into the fog to see a statue of you in your old hunter outfit (Decorated Hero), wielding Harbinger with one hand.
"Yeah. The Council found out where you were resting in Mt. Schlafende thanks to Ozpin. So Vale decided to expand their city on this mountain. This place was prosperous at the time, with the beautiful scenery and your tomb as the most famous landmark. Huntsman from Beacon and mercenaries from The Schnees guarded your tomb during this time. As well as the White Fang, even though they became a terrorist cell. They agreed to stand down and defend your tomb as a sign of respect to you. Salem, well, she had spies that disguised themselves as Beacon Hunters at first."
"What do you mean "at first?"," I asked with visible confusion.
"Well, they did reveal themselves as Salem's spies. Which at first was met with strong resistance, but they said that they wouldn't harm anyone because Salem wanted to watch over you, too. Ozpin decided to let them go if they behave, that is. Until that day..." Harbinger trailed off.
"The city got attacked from the looks of it. But how? This place was full of hunters and mercenaries." I said. Harbinger went silent for a moment.
"Well, I remember Salem telling me that she had a protocol in case people discovered your resting place. She created and sent thousands of subterranean Grimm into little pocket chambers inside the mountain. She also made them dormant so that if Ozpin decides to take your body. The dormant Grimm will wake up and charge towards Beacon at all sides. By luck, he decided to keep you there since the Council wants the city to be in that mountain. Unfortunately, while expanding the city, they came across one of the chambers, and that set off the protocol, and the city's defense got overrun by the Grimm. The people sealed themselves underground and lived in the tunnels. By then, the other chamber of dormant Grimm awoken and finished off the rest of the settlers." She finished while the lens turned gray.
I stayed silent for a moment, 'Wow. That must have been a nasty way to die from a Grimm invasion. But why Salem, why are you going this far for me?' I thought as I put them aside so I can sleep on them. "Anyways, do you need something in this place before we get out?" Harbinger asks.
"Well, first we need to go to my statue. I can sense light and darkness radiating from that place. Then, we get the hell out of dodge. I swear this place is giving me the creeps." I said as a chill goes down my spine.
"Oh? Is the legendary huntsman scared by a bunch of Grimm?" Harbinger asked teasingly. "No, I'm not scared of them, they're kind of like my spawns. But I'm afraid that there's going to be like some cult that was waiting for my return. You don't want over religious zealots coming at you at high speeds. Trust me." I said as Harbinger looked at me with a question mark at the center of her lens.
"Wait, how do you know?" Harbinger asks suspiciously
"Uhh. Nevermind. Anyways, let's head into my statue. Something tells me there's something more to this dead city." I said as I began my bizarre adventure across Remnant.
~Narrating Time~
As (Y/N) sets off with his living sword. A figure watched him from the shadows. It's eyes watching his every move. The mysterious person came out of the darkness and turned out to be a woman with red samurai-like armor. She removes her hood to reveal a black-haired woman with purple eyes. She smiles as (Y/N) gets licked by an Alpha Beowolf and screams for the Beowolf to stop it.
"Oh, (Y/N)-baby. You have really kept me waiting. Now my dreams and goals can finally come true~." She says before turning into a raven and flew across the vastly empty skies.
To be Continued...
(A/N): Not gonna lie, just writing the dialogue between you and your sword was weird for me. Welp, expect more of these chapters to come in the future. Anyways, I'm gonna make another reader story from my first account. It will be a surprise. I'm out of here, for now, peace.
