Garp

I love this old man. Be quiet I can sense your judgment and disapproval. •^• fuk off m80 (p.p.s : not super over the top lovey, enjoy.)

You'd always see him watching you out of the corner of his eye, tracing over your body as if you'd done some form of treachery just by standing there beside him.

Sometimes when he'd walk by his arm would brush up against yours, sending a small electric shock up your back that made the hair on the back of your neck prick up.

Now you were standing outside his office, looking up at the door he was behind; most likely asleep.

You slipped inside and walked towards his desk where, not so oddly enough, his face was planted into the wooded surface.

You leaned forward and outstretched your hand, running your fingers through his gray hair.

He shifted beneath your fingertips, a snore sounding through the quiet as a smile graced your face.

"If only I could tell you how much I really want you."

You sighed quietly, gingerly tipping his head up and pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead.

His head fell forward, a thump ringing out as you flinched at the sound.

"Love you Garp..."

~

The next day when the old man awoke, his head was thumping as he groaned.

"I fell asleep at my desk again..great...that's not helping my back.."

He stood from his chair, a resounding crack running up his spine as he bent back slightly.

"Oh..I'm too old for this.."

He rubbed down the center of his back, making his way to the doors that separated him from the hallway.

As soon as he opened the door, subordinates greeted him left and right.

"Morning Garp sir!"
"Mighty fine weather Vice Admiral!"
"Nice to see you up Sir!"

This continued down the hall into the galley, grabbing one of the breakfast trays and chowing down right then and there.

"Vice admiral Garp sir, fleet admiral Akainu would like to know if you're done with your paperwork."

He cast his glance down to a small figure, his eyes skimming over her little stature.

"Miss Y/n, great to hear you speaking to me again-"
"I am merely doing what the fleet admiral said, he specifically asked me to check up on your work."

Her eyes looked into his, her face expressionless against his.

"Well, if you do so ask me, I have the majority done-"
"So you're not completely finished?"
"No-"
"Then that is all I need to know, thank you vice admiral."

He watched her turn on her heel and walk out of the packed room.

He let his wander back to the food in his palms, quickly discarding it as he walked out after her quietly.

He pressed himself against the wall as she stepped forward into the so called 'fleet admirals' office.

He leaned in towards the door and listened in.

"Did you ask him L/n?"
"Yes Akainu sir, he said he had the majority of it completed, but did not have all of it done."
"Mm, figures with him."

A small hum sounding after his say made him frown, his eyebrow raised.

"Of course Sir."
"Please do inform him that he has one day left to get that into me, or there will be consequences."
"Yes Sir."
"And please, L/n, look after him. I can't have him ruining the reputation of the marines because he can't file simple paperwork."
"Yes Sir, I will make sure that all of his documents are in place by tomorrow evening."
"Good girl, maybe if this attitude proceeds, I can appoint you to a vice admiral to serve under me."
"It would be an honor Akainu sir."

There was no break in her voice, not one octave higher than the other. Monotonous, that's what it was.

He let a hand scratch at the scar on his face, a grunt escaping his lips as he walked back down to his office.

As he closed the door, he locked it and shook his head.

"Oh by Sengoku's beard.."

~

You saluted for the last time, clicking your heels together as you were allowed to leave his office.

You giddily walked down the halls, grinning to yourself as you hummed your way down to your office.

"Work for Akainu? For Sakazuki!?"

You giggled and clapped your hands together.

"Oh that's a dream, by the gods! I could imagine it now; powerful marine leader and his assistant take over the new world!"

You practically squealed in excitement as you made your way past Garp's office, slipping into your own right beside it.

"I need to get my paperwork done, then I need to make sure that he gets his done too."

You nodded in approval as you continued your diligent work, running your eyes over the words and quickly sending them off with a quick scribble of a signature.

About halfway into the rather large stack, you stretched and hummed as you leaned against the back of your chair.

'I wonder if Garp is even doing his work...wouldn't hurt to check up on him..'

You got up and walked to your door, opening it as you stepped out into the quiet hallway.

Well, almost quiet.

You could hear the familiar snoring of a gray haired man in the next room and rolled your eyes.

"Dammit.."

You went to turn the handle, but it stuck in place as you jiggled and yanked on it.

'Did he seriously lock himself in his office?'

You thought quietly to yourself a moment and shook your head.

"Okay, this'll be a easy case to crack."

You went back into the office, digging around through your drawers until you found what you were looking for; a card.

The stiff plastic shuffled through the small crack in the door, wiggling its way down as you grasped the handle.

"Come on baby, mama needs to get the hell in here.."

You heard a resounding click and smiled triumphantly as the door swung open.

"Still got it hehehe.."

You walked in and swung the door closed, sitting on the edge of his desk.

"Gar-"

You looked to the edge of the table, all paperwork accounted for as you shuffled through the pages.

"Oh.."
"I took the liberty in making your life easier.."

You heard him grumble under his arms as he sat up, looking at you with tired old eyes.

"Well...thank you.."
"Yes...you're welcome..I hope you get that position that Akainu briefly disclosed; if it makes you any happier I'll make sure you do get it."
"G-garp..."
"What else does he need you to do? I mean, for you to be able to get a position as his assistant.."
"I-i...I don't know..."

You looked down to the floor and sighed, fiddling with the ends of your cuffs.

"Well get to knowing.."
"You-you heard us talking?"
"I may or may not have followed you to his office."
"G-garp! dammit!"

You blushed red, your eyes avoiding his as you raised your gaze back up.

"I just wanted to make sure that you weren't getting into any trouble..."

A small chuckle filled in the quiet room, your eyes falling shut.

"But now I see you're far from it..."
"Garp please.."
"Now if you'll excuse me.."

He stood and grabbed the stash of documents, brushing past you.

"I have to get these sent out."
"Yeah..okay.."

You watched him go, eyes trailing over his back as he turned to leave.

"Damn.."

~

He made his way down the hallway, a frown cemented on his face as his eyes trained on the floor.

He knocked on his door, walking in and setting the stack on top of the one he was previously working on.

"What the hell-"
"Listen to me and listen to me closely Sakazuki."

He leaned real close to the fleet admiral, catching his hard eyes.

"You took my grandson from me, I'll be damned if you take Y/n from me too."
"Garp what the hell do you mean.."

He stood from his seat, peering at the older man in his office.

"I'm talking about the things you said to her that have made her so happy go lucky, she deserves it more than anyone on this ship, and I'll be damned you treat her with any disrespect."

The magma man frowned, raising an eyebrow.

"L/n? Of course, she deserves it the way she's been working hard, I could say likewise about your work ethnic.."

A crackle sounded through the room as the fleet admiral cracked his knuckles, staring down the marine hero.

"I could care less what you do to me, the only thing I care about more than my grandson is her. I'm not scared of you like the people here are, you may be fleet admiral, but you are not my superior. You think you are, but you're not. "

A searing pain came through the right side of his face as he collapsed against the opposite wall.

"High talk you're having hm?"

A chuckle rumbled through his chest as he rose from the floor, wiping the side of his lip.

"Just a warning, really."
"I'm surprised I haven't boiled you alive with my own hands yet."
"As am I, As. Am. I."

He made his way back down the walk to his office, swinging open the door as he took his seat back to his chair.

"Anyway, Y/n deary, I think its about sealed for you."
"We-well thank you Garp-Garp!"

Your hands grabbed either side of his face as he cringed a small frown darkening your features.

"You have a bruise on your face! What did you do!?"
"All I did was give that Sakazuki a good talking to, he didn't seem to handle it well."

His chest shook with a small laugh, a smile planted on his face.

"You crazy old man.."
"Yeah..crazy old man I am huh?"

You shook your head.

'One day old man...one day I'll be able to tell you..'
