25. Nezuko Kamado- Cutie
(Requested)
__
"You're terribly cute, Nezuko," I cooed, lightly pinching her cheek, "Makes me wanna keep you in my pocket forever." She hummed and nuzzled into my palm, delicate hands grabbing onto my arm, holding me closer. I laughed and shifted so I could pull her into my arms, sharing the warmth I radiated.
The demon relaxed, her eyes fluttering shut and legs curling up against her chest. Steady breaths puffed in and out of her small frame creating small gusts of wind that blew across the surface of my uniform. It felt calming to be around her -- an aspect of Nezuko's presence that I quite enjoyed.
A few moments later the door to our room slammed open, revealing an extremely angry Zenitsu next to a nervous Tanjiro. I only gave the two a short smile, then returned to caring for the girl I'd grown so attached to.
"What," the blonde screamed, his high-pitched voice echoing all around the room, "are you doing?" I shushed him and kept Nezuko tight in my arms as she slowly awoke again, drowsily blinking. Groaning, I shot a glare at Zenitsu and pressed a kiss on Nezuko's forehead. I slipped my arms underneath her to carry her bridal-style, rocking her back and forth so she'd be lulled back to sleep again.
"She's not your girlfriend, you know?" I murmured gingerly, brushing a stray lock of hair away from Nezuko's face, "So please, do me a favor a back off." I smiled tenderly as I saw my girl's expression relax and her muscles grow less tense. Her arms entrapped my torso and her face buried further into my chest, as if she was just proving my point further.
While Zenitsu stammered and foamed from the mouth at the sight, I just made sure Nezuko was fine, ensuring that she slept well. We laid down on a mattress together and I gave her a soft smile, hoping that she'd recover quickly.
The blackette eventually drifted off into sweet dreams and I untangled our limbs then tucked her in, giving one last kiss to her pretty face. Adoration gleamed in my dewy irises as I left her for the night, retreating to the confines of my own space on the tatami floor.
"Sweet dreams, baby."

The next morning I was woken up by an unnatural weight resting atop of my figure. Groggily groaning, I yawned and blinked my eyes open to see who it was. A familiar face greeted me, pale pink eyes fluttering with the dawn's sentiments. Relaxing once I could register who I was, my head flopped back onto my pillow with a poof. Nezuko seemed to laugh and crawl further forward so I could see her even while my face pointed at the ceiling.
"What did I do to deserve someone like you, Nezuko?" I murmured, placing my hand on top of her head thoughtfully, slipping my fingers into her tresses, "I don't know what I'd do without you." She gave me a light tap on the lips with her bamboo stick and grinned in response.
If my heart could melt, it would've done so right then and there.
Everything about her was just so perfect. I could tell nothing had changed about her personality and mind. Demon or not, my Nezuko would always remain the same and I thanked the heavens for keeping it that way. Every single day I would get to see her blush and I would fall even deeper in love with her.
We were promised to each other at an early stage in both of our lives. Of course it was consensual, why wouldn't it be? No one in the village wanted to force her to make a decision, especially not towards such a compassionate and beautiful person. I remember the elation and joy I felt when I heard my name being whispered along with hers, and how everyone said they were awaiting the day that we would wed.
The only demon slayer in the village married to the prettiest girl.
I tried my best to be the best spouse for her even though I was busy with my job. Her family became the one I never had, and I grew closer to Tanjiro in the process as well. Times were simpler, back then.
My thoughts suddenly fell apart when Nezuko took a hold of my hand, squeezing it tightly as if to say, "Stop thinking about it." My expression blossomed into a thankful smile and I pecked her cheek, grateful that she was there to look out for me.
"These times are tough, aren't they, Nezuko?" The she-demon only nodded, her figure now fully splayed out on top of me. I gave a sigh and patted her back, gazing up at the fully-furnished ceiling. The distinct patterns of architecture brought me back to the days where she and I would lovingly chat among ourselves until one of us fell asleep in the cozy space she called home.
It was so familiar, but the memory seemed so far away, miles and miles out of my reach.
"I can't wait for this nightmare to be over so we can finally live our dream together."
