Chapter ♞ 15 : My Last Day As An Temporary Manager

Today is Friday, Mikan's last day as  temporary manager of the Teiko's basketball club. She took the towel and put it inside her bag.

Today, I'll give this back to Aomine-kun and thank him.

"Mikan! What are you doing? You are going to be late." her mother yelled downstairs.

"I know, Mom!" Mikan yelled as she grabbed her bag and run downstairs.

She hurriedly ran to the train station and headed to her school, after standing in the train, she began running hastily so she woudn't be late.

She was almost there to school, she paused and panted momentarily. Sweat trickled down her forehead as she wiped it with her arm.

Once the lights turned green, she immediently crossed the road to school. Then there was a loud shrill beeping sound, she turned around to see a truck rushing towards her way.

She froze on her tracks as she was too startled to move right away, then she squeezed her eyes shut and waited for the impact.

Suddenly, somebody pushed her out of the way as their arms immediately wrapped around her. Instead of landing on the hard, concrete ground, she fell on something soft.

"Sakura! Are you okay?!" the voice said with concern.

She slowly opens her eyes to see a navy haired guy with tanned skin looking straight into her eyes with his blue orbs, he was really worried.

    "Aomine-kun...?" Mikan mutters.

    "Are you hurt?!" Aomine asked.

"No, I'm not, thanks to you." she flashed him an reassuring smile.

The truck that almost hit Mikan didn't stopped and continued to drive in the road, not minding if the driver almost killed someone. Then people started surrounding them.

    "Are you two okay?"

"That driver is indeed rude! He didn't even checked if someone was hurt."

"I will report this later to the City Hall, did someone got the truck's plate number?"

Seems like the by-standers were worried by them as well, now that they were surrounded by unknown people, Mikan noticed that Aomine still has his arms around her.

"Um, Aomine-kun...can you let go of me?" she mumbled while blushing.

"Oh, sorry!" he stated as he hurriedly lets go of her, his face was burning bright red.

Then they heard the Teiko's school bell rung as it signaled that homeroom was starting.

"Crap! We're late, let's go." Aomine stood up as he winces when he felt pain on his arm.

"Y-Your right!" Mikan stated, grabbing her bag on the floor, not noticing his pain.

They began crossing the road and went passed the school gates, then they ran as fast as they can considering that they are already late.

"My classroom is this way, I'll see you later, Aomine-kun. Thanks again for saving me earlier." she smiled.

"I'm cool with it." he said.

Mikan turned around and began to run towards the hallway leading to her classroom.

"Sakura." Aomine called which made her stop in her tracks.

"Yes?" she asked, turning around.

"Come and watch our match later after class, okay?" he grinned.

"Of course!" she smiled as they separate ways and went to their own classrooms.

"Why were you late earlier, Sakura-chii?" Kise asked as he passed the ball to Mikan.

"I had an little accident earlier, that's why I was a bit late." Mikan said as she received the ball.

They were doing a chest-pass exercise in P.E. class in two pairs, one girl and one boy.

"What kind of accident?"

"I almost got hit by a truck earlier."

"Oh, I see—Wait, what?! You can't call that a little accident!"

Kise hurriedly rushed towards her and inspect her arms which made her completely surprised.

"W-What are you doing, Kise-kun?" she stated, confused.

"Are you okay, Sakura-chii? Did you had any bone fractures?!"

"No, I didn't. Aomine-kun came to my rescue after all."

"Aomine-chii did?! Thank goodness your okay!"

Suddenly, he hugged her without a warning as she was surprised. Then a ball came out of nowhere and hit against Kise's head.

This made the blonde to let go of her and held his poor head that was hit by a basketball.

"Saku-chin, be my partner." the voice lazily stated.

"Murasakibara-kun?!" she said, surprised.

"Did you do that, Murasakibara-chii?! It hurts!" Kise screeched while holding the back of his head.

"Did what? It's not me who threw the ball at you. My hands just slipped." Murasakibara plainly said and adverted his gaze from them.

He's really the one who did it.

"You should really be careful, Sakura-chii! If Aomine-chii didn't come for your rescue, you might be...might be..." Kise starts tearing up.

"I won't die that easily, Kise-kun!I'm just hospitalized." Mikan stated.

"What do you guys mean?" Murasakibara asked, feeling out of place.

"Sakura-chii almost got roadkill earlier!" Kise stated.

"What? Are you okay, Saku-chin? Who is the driver? I'll crush him..." the purple haired boy stated, a nasty aura coming out of him.

"As you can see, I'm fine, you two." Mikan stated, trying to calm them down.

"Then Aomine-chii saved her, she says." Kise told Murasakibara.

"That's good. Be careful next time, Saku-chin." Murasakibara handed her a orange flavored lollipop.

"A lollipop?" she asked, staring at the orange candy.

"Wow, it's my first time seeing Murasakibara-chii giving food to other people!" Kise spoke.

"Saku-chin, come and watch our match against the other school later." Murasakibara lazily invited her.

"Oh, that's right. There are some players coming later, watch us play, okay?!" the blonde pleads.

"Sure, I know that already. Aomine-kun has asked me that earlier." she chuckled.

It was lunch time, Mikan spent it with Satsuki as they were sitting at the park, eating their packed lunches.

"What? You were almost got hit by the truck earlier?" Satsuki asked.

"Yes, thanks to Aomine-kun, he saved my life earlier." Mikan said.

The pink haired girl stared at her, she noticed her purple eyes were gleaming brightly as her smile was wide. Then she smirks.

"So have you fallen head-over-heals for my childhood friend yet?"

"What? No! It's nothing like that, Satsuki-san..."

"What did you felt earlier when you're about to get hit but got saved by Dai-chan?"

"Of course, I was really scared, my feet turned cold as I couldn't move. But I was relieved that he saved me."

"If you want, Dai-chan has a match later after class. You can cheer for him with all of your heart later."

"With all of my heart?!"

"You should come and watch the match since today is your last day!"

Mikan halted when Satsuki stated that, today was her last day as a temporary manager since her wound has finally healed. Somehow, this feels a little bit sad.

"And maybe later, you can tell him what you really feel."

"Um, Satsuki-san, you have it completely wrong. I don't have any feelings for Aomine-kun."

"Oh, you don't have to be shy! I ship you with Dai-chan, you know."

Satsuki kept teasing her and pairing her with Aomine as Mikan could only sighed in hopelessness.

It's nothing like that, really...

Satsuki continued bickering as Mikan stared down on her untouched lunch food.

"But I do have a confession to make."

Lunch time ended as they went back to their own classrooms, a sigh escaped her lips as she was busy thinking of how to tell Aomine.

"A woman can say more in a sigh than a man who can say in a sermon."

Mikan turned around to see the vice president of the basketball club, Akashi Seijuro, walking towards her. She blushed furiously.

"Akashi-kun?" she said as the boy stopped in front of her.

"Hello there, Sakura. I wanted to tell you something." he started.

"W-W-What is it?!" she stuttered.

"I wanted to invite you to watch our match that will be held later after class against players from other school." he flashed her a charming smile.

"Y-Yeah, I will come! N-No, I mean, yes I'll come and w-watch later, I-I'll cheer for you guys!" her eyes were currently spinning in circles as she was blushing heavily.

"That's good. Then, I'll see you later." he stated and walked to his classroom.

Mikan was steaming like a hot pot, her face was bright red as she cupped both of her cheeks while grinning like an idiot.

W-Why do I suddenly feel so excited?! The other guys have asked me already...yet I'm totally fine with it.

"What are you doing grinning like an idiot in the middle of the hallway, Sakura? Classes are about to resume."

Her short monologue was disrupted when someone talked to her, she looked up to see Midorima looking down on her as she pouted.

"I'm not grinning, Midorima-kun." she spoke as the blush on her cheeks faded.

"Earlier, you were." he stated.

"You did not see anything!" she stated, flapping her arms.

"Hey Sakura." he started.

"What is it?" she huffed.

"W-We'll have a practice match against other school later after class in the gym...I was thinking if you would like to watch?" Midorima said while lightly scratching his cheek.

"Of course, I've decided that I will watch earlier. The guys already told me about it." Mikan stifled a laugh.

"Oh, I see...well, I'll head back to my class. You should too, as well. Nanodayo." he stated as he pushed up his glasses.

"Right. Then see you later." she said as their paths diverse.

♛♛♛

"Finally, class ended! Let's go, Sakura-chii." Kise energetically told his seat mate as he stood up.

"Your just too excited, Kise-chin." Murasakibara stated as lazily stood up his seat.

"Alright, let's go." Mikan said as she stood up and grabbed her bag.

The three of them walked out of the classroom and through the hallway, they were chatting and laughing along the way as something caught Mikan's eye. It was a blue silhouette.

She stopped in her tracks as Kise and Murasakibara stopped as well and turned around to face her.

"You two can go ahead, I forgot something in the classroom. I'll just go get it!" Mikan stated as she ran back to the classroom.

The two guys continued walking to the gym as she ran towards the opposite direction they took.

I swear I saw something blue!

She began looking around to find what was that blue thing that she saw, strangely, she can't find it.

"Maybe it was just my imagination, huh?" she mumbled.

"What are you doing, Sakura-san?"

She slowly turned around and let out a loud shrill as she freaked out as someone crept behind her.

"W-What...it's just you, Kuroko-kun. I would appreciate if you don't sneak up behind me. I almost got an heart attack." she sighed.

"I'm sorry, Sakura-san, but I just wanted to ask you something." he started.

"What is it?" she asked.

"Please come and watch our practice match today, you'll have a good time watching us play." he said.

"Yes. I'll come and watch. Good luck, Kuroko-kun." she smiled.

    "Thank you." he stated.

Then something blue fell from Mikan's bag, it was a towel. Kuroko bent down to grab it as his eyes widened a little.

"Is this yours?" he asked as he stood up straight and handed it back to her.

"No, not really...but I'll return this later to the respective owner." she said.

"Oh, I see..." he stated as she took it from his hands.

He looked a little bit surprised after seeing this towel. Does he know something about it?
