Chapter ♞ 19 : I Can't Find Him Anywhere
"Today I will official start as a Manager of the boys' basketball club. I'm Sakura Mikan! Please take care of me. I swear I will do my best."
Mikan reintroduced herself to the first string members of the boys' basketball club, she bent down her back in a sign of respect as they also bowed, accepting her in the team as a manager.
The boys started running towards the court and began practicing, she walked towards Satsuki who was busy preparing the refreshments for the players.
"Satsuki-san." Mikan called, the pink haired girl turned to her.
"Sakura-san, nice timing. I really need your help now." Satsuki said as the orange haired girl nodded and helped her out.
After sorting out everything, fixing the things that the boys will need; water to stay dehydrated, towels to wipe their sweat away, and some snacks for them to eat.
"I'm surprised that you have enough money to buy these snacks." Satsuki said, looking at the plastic bags filled with various snacks.
"I really wanted to make something homemade for them, but I was running late earlier..." the orange haired girl lightly scratched her cheek while smiling sheepishly.
"Whoa, I never met someone as kind as you, Sakura-san." she smiled.
"Kind? Me?" Mikan asked, pointing a finger to herself as the other girl nodded in reply. "I'm just doing what a manager would do."
The boys practiced for quite a while now, they finally had a five minute break. They started walking towards the two girls to take a short break.
"Good job." Mikan said as she walked towards Aomine and handed him a bottled water.
"Thanks." he flashed her a toothy grin as sweat trickled down his face, he took the water from her hands.
Aomine twisted the cap open as he chugged down the water while his arm slung around Mikan's shoulder while drinking. Despite that he was reek in sweat, she didn't mind.
"Potato chips, cookies, pudding, chocolate—all of my favorites are here! Who's the god that sent this?" Murasakibara asked, looking at the snacks on the table.
"Oh, Sakura-san brought all of that here, Mu-kun." Satsuki answered.
"Can I have some, Saku-chin?" the purple haired basketball player asked as he turned to the orange haired girl, he showed his best puppy eyes.
"Sure, take as much as you like." Mikan answered with a smile forming her small lips.
"Yay." Murasakibara said as he started taking snacks and eating them.
"Murasakibara, can you wipe your sweat first before eating snacks nanodayo." Midorima said, irritated.
"Eh...I'll do it later..." the purple haired boy dully says as he continued eating the chips.
"Midorima-kun is right, you should wipe your sweat away." Kuroko, who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, held a towel in his hands.
"Gah! Kuroko-chii?! How long have you been standing there?" Kise exclaimed, surprised to find him standing next to him.
"I've been here since the start." he emotionlessly stated as it slightly freaked Murasakibara out, he heave out a sigh and grabbed the towel.
"Alright." Murasakibara said as he wipes away the sweat on his face.
"Why are you guys still surprised when Kuroko comes around? Shouldn't you be used to him by now?" Akashi said as he was wiping his neck with a towel.
"Well, it's still creepy that he suddenly pops out of nowhere." Aomine huffed as he finished drinking the bottled water.
"But that's what is good about him!" Satsuki squealed, blushing.
"You seem to be so hyped up, Momoi-chii." Kise chuckled as he sat on a chair, taking a break.
Suddenly, his mobile phone rung as the others turned to him, he fished out his device and looked at the screen.
"Your phone is annoying, Kise." Aomine scowled, slightly annoyed.
The yellow haired boy stared at the screen momentarily, which made the others confused in why he hasn't answered it yet.
"Who is it from?" Akashi asked.
"It's from..." Kise looked up from the screen of his phone and turned to his friends with a surprised expression in his face. "...from a fangirl."
"Go to hell!" Aomine screeched as he threw the empty bottle of water at his face.
"Ouch! That hurts, Aomine-chii!" Kise wailed as he started reading the text he received from a fangirl.
Fangirl? Mikan thought, confused. Little did she knew what Kise's part time work was.
"What's with that keychain attached to your phone, Kise-kun?" Kuroko asked as Kise jolted up from his seat as he was surprised to see the light blue haired guy seating beside him.
"Oh, it's just Kuroko-chii...this? Ah, it's from—"
Then Mikan's phone also begun to rung as she grabbed her phone out of her pocket, it was a text from her mother.
"Who was it from?" Aomine asked, taking a peek on the screen.
"It's from my Mom." Mikan replied as she read the text silently.
That's when they noticed something from the two people who were busy reading and texting back at their mobile phones—they had the matching keychains.
"Y-You two had a matching pair of keychains, nanodayo." Midorima stated, completely surprised.
"Your right!" Aomine stated as he took back his arm from her shoulder, he begun looking at Kise and Mikan's beat keychains closely, comparing them.
"My, you two are already at that stage?" Akashi said.
Kise's cheeks flared up from Akashi's sudden commentary, "N-No! It's nothing like that, Akashi-chii."
"I just happened to saw them and bought matching ones the other day." Mikan interjected.
"It's so cute! Where did you bought them?" Satsuki asked.
"Do you know the book sale shop in the town? I bought it near that place." she informed her.
Then Nijimura, the captain of the basketball team, who went somewhere to do his business, came back to the gym. He walked towards the first string members who was taking a five minute break.
"You guys, who told you to take a break? Practice now!" Nijimura's voice roared and ordered them.
The boys complied to his order as they ran towards the court and started practicing once again.
"Senpai, do you want to drink some fresh, cold water? You must be thirsty by now—" she paused when she saw that all of the bottles were empty.
"Um, I guess we ran out of water. Do you want to have some snacks, Senpai? I bought a haul earlier and emptied my wallet—" she paused once again to see that there were lots of plastics clattered on the floor, there was no more snacks left on the table.
Mikan had a depressing aura around her as she kept bowing down and spewing sorry to Nijimura as she can't offer him anything—since all the boys drunk the water and ate the snacks.
"It's alright, Sakura-san. I'm not really thirsty or hunger at all." the captain said, waving his hand.
However, Mikan can't help but be guilty from that. "I-I'll buy you some drink, what would you like, Senpai?!"
"Like I said, it's fine, you said that your wallet is empty after buying lots of snacks."
"It's fine, Nijimura-senpai! I can walk home! It won't make me feel at rest when one of the members isn't treated well."
Nijimura heaved a sigh, "Then a can of iced black coffee please."
"Iced black coffee? Okay." Mikan cheerfully stated. He flashed her a soft small before he frowned, making the girl confused of his sudden change of expression.
"Did Haizaki went to practice today?" he asked.
"No, he didn't. Senpai." she replied.
"Damn that Haizaki." a black aura appeared from Nijimura's form as Mikan shivered from the scary aura that he was giving out.
"Um...I'll just buy some iced black coffee." she sweat dropped, slowly moving away from him.
"Sakura." he said.
"Y-Yes?" she flinched.
"I have a favor to ask you." he stated.
Nijimura looked at her with a scary look in his eyes which made Mikan shivered, her knees began shaking as she was nervous in what he has to say.
"Find Haizaki and bring him here."
Mikan shook in fear as she nodded in reply, "Yes! I'll do my best to find him, Senpai." hurriedly, she dashed out of the gym doors.
She bought first a iced black coffee from the vending machine, afterwards, she hurriedly ran and has begun searching for a certain guy with light gray hair, she searched everywhere for him in the entire school—at the hallways, the nurse's office, the canteen, the library, the pool, the garden, the science lab, the computer lab—everywhere!
I can't find him at all...is he still even here in school?
Mikan paused for awhile as she wipes the sweat trickling down her forehead, panting. She has been looking for Haizaki for a while now, yet she still can't find him.
"I can't find him..." she said as she stood up straight after catching her breathe. "Is he still here in school?"
She wanted to stop looking and go back to the gym, but when she imagines going back there empty-handed, Nijimura will surely get angry at her and show her his scary self.
Shivers run up to her spine as she started searching for a certain gray haired boy outside the school premises, no matter what—she has to find Haizaki or else...she will have to face Njimura's wrath.
"I wonder where he went." she said as she began running downtown.

Meanwhile, a tall guy with light grey hair was goofing around the mall, he reaches the arcade and started wrecking the place like a delinquent.
"Is there something fun to do?" he muttered, completely bored.
