Chapter ♞ 4 : It's Too Sweet

Today, the class were at the cooking room, they were assigned to bake cookies. Their teacher partnered them up together and to work as a team.

"Let's do our best, Murasakibara-kun." Mikan said.

"I don't know how to bake cookies." he lazily told her.

"Leave it to me! I've been making sweets with my Mom, I know how to bake cookies." she cheerfully said.

"Then you can do it alone." he said as he clearly doesn't want to bake.

"O-Okay..." she could never say no, because she was scared of what will happen if she defies him.

Mikan started making the cookies, she could handle it even if she was alone. Baking cookies we're a piece of cake.

"Murasakibara-kun, can you pass the sugar?" she told him.

Then she froze, she forgot that Murasakibara wasn't going to help or assist her.

"Here you go." surprisingly, he did what she told him to do.

Mikan grabbed the sugar from him, then she smiled at him.

"Thank you!" she said as she continued making the cookies.

"I'm not doing this because I want to help you, I just didn't want the cookies to go bad." he said.

"Don't worry. I'll make the best cookies that you ever tasted!" she said, brimming with confidence.

She put the tray of dough in the oven as she closed it and turned on the heater.

"That should do the trick." she said as she was going to wait for awhile until it was fully baked.

Mikan turned to everyone else who was baking as well, some did a good job and others were all right, but there were some who completely failed.

Murasakibara opened his box of pocky and grabbed a stick as he plopped it in his mouth, munching it. He was getting hungry.

Then they heard the ding sound coming from the oven, alarming Mikan that the cookies were fully baked. She grabbed a pair of gloves and wore it as she opened the oven.

The fresh smell of baked cookies lingered in every student's nose as they turned to the direction where it was—from Mikan and Murasakibara's cooking station.

"Whoa. That's so many." Murasakibara commented.

"Well, I made it enough for everyone." she said as she grabbed the tray.

Then she stood up straight while holding the tray tightly in her gloved hands, she accidentally slipped from the banana that was coincidently lying on the floor.

Suddenly, Murasakibara grabbed the tray while Mikan was also holding it as well. Her back hit his hard chest as he stopped her fall.

"Thank you, Murasakibara-kun." she said as he sighed.

"This is my first time seeing someone actually slipping from a banana peel." Murasakibara said.

"Banana peel?"

She looked down on the ground to see a banana peel lying on the ground, God knows how it end up there.

Then it was free-tasting time, everyone was finished baking as they went around each counter for some treats and to give them some of theirs as well.

But the center of attraction was Mikan and Murasakibara's cookies which looked cute and delicious.

"Here you go everyone, eat up!" she said as there were lots of cookies on the big plate.

"We can eat this?"

"This looks really delicious!"

"You made this for us?!"

Mikan smiled at them. "Of course."

Then their classmates started to pick some cookies and ate it, chewing it slowly and savoring the flavor.

"This taste really good, Sakura-san!" Kise commented after having a taste of her baked cookies.

"Really? Thank goodness." she laughed happily.

Mikan noticed Murasakibara who was literally drooling as he watched his classmates eat some cookies, she giggled and grabbed a plate filled with cookies and handed it to him.

"For me?" he asked as she nodded.

The cookies we're calling for Murasakibara, telling him to eat them right away. He was about to get it when he tried to restrained himself.

"Why are you giving me cookies? When I didn't even helped...?" he said.

"But I said I made it for everyone, meaning for you and the others."

Murasakibara halted at first, she was really kind enough to make lots of cookies and giving it to their classmates.

"I guess I have no choice. Since you were giving it to me, I'll eat it."

"If you don't want to eat it, I'll just give it to the others."

"I'm the one who's gonna eat it!"

Murasakibara has an attitude of a little kid, he is childish and selfish. He acts like a tsundere sometimes.

He plopped the cookie in his mouth as he began to munch it lazily, the flavor danced in his mouth as his eyes widened from the good flavoring.

"How does it taste?" she asked.

"It's delicious." he lazily said.

"Thank goodness." she giggled.

He has to say that this was the most delicious cookies he tasted, to add that it was also homemade. Though, he was never going to admit it.

"Here." he said as he grabbed a cookie from the plate and plopped it into her mouth.

Mikan munched on the cookie and swallowed it, she found her cookies taste really delicious.

"Thanks for the cookies." he said.

♛♛♛

Murasakibara was thankful enough for someone who is as kind as Mikan was able to be so nice to him. He wanted to repay the cookies that she gave him, also the orange flavored candy from day one.

After class, Murasakibara was able to attain another orange marmalade in his hands, hoping that this one isn't too sour like the one he got from yesterday.

This time, I'll surely give it to her.

Mikan walked out of the classroom with her bag hanging around her shoulder, then she heard footsteps running towards her. Turning around to see Murasakibara, running.

She thought that he was the lazy type, she wouldn't imagine him running. Though, he didn't broke a sweat.

"Sakura-san." he called as he gave her one of his dull expressions.

"Murasakibara-kun? What's wrong?" she paused from her tracks as she turned around to face him.

Then he clanked the jar of orange marmalade on her head lightly, she looked up and saw him holding her favorite food.

"Here." he said as he handed her the jar.

"It's an orange marmalade—my favorite! Where did you bought this?" she asked, grabbing the jar.

"Does it even matter where? All that matters is I'm giving them to you." he replied.

"Why are you giving me this?" she asked him, confused.

"Aren't those your favorites?" he asked her, pointing at the jar.

"It is, but why?" she asked.

Of course she'll ask, she kinda figured him out. He loves snacks and was probably the type who doesn't like to share it with other people.

"I just feel like giving them to you." he and his lame excuses.

Mikan's lips curved in a smile as she appreciated his kind gesture.

"Thank you, Murasakibara-kun!" she smiled at him as she didn't expect him to give her a food.

She opened the lid as there was a free plastic spoon there, she grabbed it and scooped a spoonful of orange marmalade. She put the spoon in her mouth as her tastebuds reacted to the flavor.

I hope that it isn't too sour.

"How does it taste?" he asked.

"It's too sweet." she answered.
