14. Good night

SO I STARTED WRITING A NEW FANFICTION IF YOU WANT TO CHECK IT OUT. ^~^

Mavis Pov.

After that whole day things started to calm down thankfully. I finally knew everything. What I wanted to know so badly. And I understand. But what still strikes me is, this feeling inside. After the finding out that Zeref had committed a crime in the past, shouldn't the bubbly stupid feeling stop? I shouldn't be thinking so much about him, or getting so nervous!

I'm confused. I guess I have to start facing the facts huh? Start asking the hard questions. Do I like Zeref? Like, like-like him?

Just then my mom entered my room. I looked up at her. She seemed like her usual happy self. That's good. I'm still in trouble for walking home late, and I have a feeling she wants to talk about what's up with me.

"Hello there." She sat on the end of my bed.

"Hey! So what's up?" I asked, sitting up from my messed up flop on my bed.

"Well I wanted to tell you about this weekend." She said.

"Oh? What's going on this weekend?" I questioned.

"Your father and I are going to visit your great aunt Laurie. She's been getting sick a lot lately so we wanted to check up on her. But since she does live far away we're going to be gone for about four days." She tells me, "do you think you can handle that?"

"Oh, well-" I hate being home alone. I hate it! I always get super paranoid, not during the day. Nope. But at night my mind goes to a mess if I'm all alone in my house. I freak out. Mom knows this too.

"I know, I know. But you can invite some friends to stay the night with you. That could be fun right?" She gave her convincing little smile, "I'll even let that friend Zeref of yours stay over. Won't tell your father either."

I gave a small glare while blushing. "I already told you it's not like that." Although it'd be... I sort of imagined what it'd be like to tell my parents if I ever ended up dating Zeref.

"Ok. Ok. I'm sorry. But there's no need to worry. You'll be fine."
...

My parents left on Friday before I went to school. I talked to Zeref about everything.... Now that he is my only friend. So thankfully he understood my situation, and agreed to stay over night with me.

I was waiting by his locker as he was getting his things.

"You know, we should probably try not to miss the bus. Seeing as walking does take awhile." He suggests, teasing me. I pouted. Yeah, yeah. I have a habit of missing the bus, whatever. Being early is just to overdone.

"We will, the bus doesn't leave too early." I said rather nonchalantly. I didn't mind if I had to walk home with him. I enjoyed his company... A lot. The more time with him really wouldn't bug me.

"Ok, I got my stuff. Let's get going out." Zeref smiled, I smiled back. He checked his watch and his eyes widened.

"What is it?" I asked, intrigued by his shocked expression.

"It's late." He said. Oh, his watch is behind. Which means, we're behind. Crap.

We both start running out of the building, checking to see if the bus was still in the schoolyard. We sighed, relieved as it was still there.

We went to take seats around the front, they were the only ones left. People already claimed the back.

"You know it's weird. Out of all the things your afraid of, it's the dark." He said, fidgeting with his long fingers.

"Huh? Is that so weird? And it's not the dark I'm afraid of. It's what lurks in it." I pointed out. He shrugs.

"Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose if you invite a murderer to your house?" He said winking at me. My heart skipped a beat as he did so. I punched his arm playfully in return, looking away to hide my blush.

"Oh come on, I'm not afraid of you! I trust you probably more than I should." I laughed. It's true though, he's the one I trust most in these moments. Ironic.

"Honestly, I never pictured anyone to say that."

Zeref Pov.
As I entered Mavis's house I was gratefully met by warm air, the house I shared with my aunt was cheap and completely frozen. We didn't have a great heating system. So this place, was much more welcoming. I should of let myself been invited over sooner.

"Your house is so, warm." I said, enjoying the comfort.

"Oh, yeah. My family likes it like this. But in the summer it's horrible. Overheating like crazy." Mavis explained, taking a seat on her light brown couch. The walls were a cream colour, and there was an orange tint to the wooden floors. This place is really nice.

"Come! Sit!" She said, motioning for me to come over. I took a seat by her, as she turned on the TV.

"Anything you want to watch?" She asked me, flipping through the channels.

"My place doesn't have cable actually. So I have no idea what channels are good or just shitty." I replied, looking at her. She was starring at me with her sympathetic eyes, those green eyes were going to be the death of me. I sighed, "what's on channel 25? That's a good number."

"That's full of reality TV shows!" She giggled, "do you really want to watch, Gypsies of New York?"

"Ugh, not really." I grinned, "do you have any movies?"

"A whole bunch. My dad collects them." She jumped off the couch and crawled over to a DVD cabinet. Well she was right. There was A LOT.

"What do you like? Action? Adventure? Sci-fi? Ooo I know! You seem like a total chick flick guy!"

"Just pick something that's good, and makes you think." I rolled my eyes jokingly. Oh yes, I would definitely enjoy a chick flick. Note the sarcasm.

"Got it!" She put on a movie, one I didn't recognize. It looked old... Maybe from around the eighties. And after getting around an hour into the film, Mavis fell asleep. Wow. It's only like 8:30, she's such a child.

I don't want to wake her, but, we didn't even eat dinner. And with how tiny she is, I don't think missing meals will help her any.

I leaned over to wake her up, but her face looked so peaceful. Her breath was light and easy as she slept. Ha, she sort of reminds me of a puppy when sleeping. Huddled up like that. It's actually adorable.

I poked her cheek gently, she mumbled something I couldn't quite make out. I shook her.

"Mavis!"

"Cactuses can't get drunk." She said waking up, looking around, "wait what? What happened?" She was probably dreaming... About cactuses?

"Mavis, you didn't even eat. It's not healthy to miss meals." I nagged her. She still seemed a bit out if it.

"Oh right! Yeah, um, what did you make?" She asked rubbing her eyes. I sighed.

"Mavis this is your house. I have no idea where anything is. How could I make dinner?" I said slowly, hoping she'd start to catch on.

"Opps. I forgot. Um, my mom made stir fry. It's in the fridge. We just need to heat it up." She stretched her legs out. Getting off the couch. She was still a bit sleepy, but that made her even cuter. Ugh, why am I thinking like that? I guess I'm tired too.

We went to the kitchen, I took a seat at the small elegant light oak table. She grabbed the stir fry putting it in the microwave.

"There! See we have food." She took the seat right next to me, resting her head back on the table.

"Don't fall back asleep, ok?" I told her, she nodded.

"I know, I know, I'm-" yawn, "not." She's defiantly falling back to sleep. I laughed as she closed her eyes.

I took the stir fry out of the microwave as it beeped, and Mavis opened her eyes.

"Is it done?" She lifted her head up quickly.

"Yeah, it's done." I placed a plate in front if her. She started to eat it, gobbling it down. I also ate mine. Wow, this tastes a lot better than my aunts cooking, but then again she doesn't cook. She just buys cheap pre made meals from grocery stores.

I felt a tiny head rest on my arm. Oh, Mavis. She's sleeping once again. I smiled at her. She's full of warmth, she's a very welcoming presence. Her fluffy blonde hair all over the place, and her pale skin had almost a milky glow to it. She was a bit of a mess, but stunning. What's with me? Why am I admiring her so much tonight? I mean I admired her before, but never to this extent. It's like I'm noticing her way to much. My face felt heated as I watched her. Oh crap, I like her don't I?
