1: Hello Los Angeles

Perri smiled as she walked into Station 118, she looked around for Athena, who had left her in the car. She made her way upstairs, where some of the firefighters and Athena were, "I thought it was illegal to lock people in a car?" Perri smiled looking at the group.
Her comment made the group stop and turn, "You locked her in the car, Athena?" An older man questioned looking down at Athena.
"The windows were rolled down." Athena sighed
"I'm fine. I just like giving Sargent Grant here a hard time." Perri smiled.
"I thought that you didn't have a partner since you are a Sargent?" An African American woman questioned.
"I don't but Officer Hart here just transferred and Maynard thinks that she can learn a few things from me." Athena sighed. "So far, it's nothing more than a headache."
"It's a pleasure to meet you Officer Hart. I'm Bobby Nash, Captain of the 118." He said as he held out his hand for her to shake.
"Please call me Perri." Perri smiled as she shook his hand before letting go and looking at everyone else.
"I'm Henrietta Wilson but I prefer Hen." The African American woman smiled
"I'm Howard Han but everyone just calls me Chimney." An Asian American man smiled
"And I'm Bu...." a tall man around the same age as her started
"You're Buck. I know, Athena has warned me about you." Perri smiled.
Her comment made the other firefighters laugh. "So, is Perri short for anything?" Chimney asked
"It's short for Perrin." She said
"It's a little weird." Buck commented grabbing food off a plate before popping it into his mouth.
"And what, "Buck" isn't weird?" Perri questioned looking at the blonde firefighter.
"Oh burn." Chimney chuckled.
"I like you." Hen smiled.
"Are you from L.A., Perri?" Hen asked
"No. I'm from Chicago." Perri told them as she followed them over to the table.
"Long way from home. Why'd you leave the Windy City?" Chimney asked.
Just as she was about to answer, bells started to go off and everyone rushed downstairs to the trucks. Perrin rushed after Athena and jumped into the police cruiser.
~~~~~~
Athena and Perrin along with Station 118 arrived at a house where a person was trapped. Rushing to the backyard, they noticed that a 20 something kid got himself stuck in a raccoon trap.
"What the hell?" Perri questioned. "How did this happen?" She asked the few people that were there.
"They bet him that he couldn't fit his head in it." A girl said.
"Okay I need statements from all three of you so come with me." She said as she ushered the three away from the scene. "Let's give them room to work."
A minute later, Perrin walked over to Athena, "I got statements from the friends. They said that it was all a bet. I thought people in Chicago were crazy." Perri said as she watched as Hen and Chimney put the man into the back of the ambulance.
"Welcome to Los Angeles, Hart." Athena said plainly before walking to the cruiser. "Lunch?"
"I could eat. What are you in the mood for?" Athena asked as she drove off.
Athena and Perri had gotten burgers and ate in the car, "So tell me, Hart...." Athena started before she took a bite of a fry, "What made you come to Los Angeles?"
Perri sighed as she looked out at the road in front of her. "I needed a change. I was born and raised in Chicago and I wanted to go somewhere where people know me." Perri explained.
"Your mom or dad a cop?" Athena asked
"Dad. He is a Sargent. I didn't want to be part of the CPD and have everyone treat me differently than all the other officers just because my dad was a Sargent. So I made the bold choice of moving all the way to California, to forge my own path as a cop." Perri explained
"Bold choice indeed." Athena chuckled lightly. "I have no idea how I would feel if one of my kids moved a thousand miles from home."
"My dad wasn't to thrilled that his baby girl was leaving but he supported my decision. Told me that I was an adult much to his dismay." Perri smiled before taking a sip of her soda.
Their radios went off about a supposed animal attack, "727-L-30, in route." Athena spoke into the radio before driving off.
Once to the house, Perri saw that the 118 got there at the same time as they did. Jumping out, she rushed over to where Bobby and Buck stood, "We'll be here if you need us." Perri said.
A few minutes went by before the 118 ventured back outside to their trucks. "So what was it?" Perri asked walking up to Buck and Bobby as she watched Hen and Chimney put a man into the ambulance.
"Someone had a Brazilian Viper as a pet. Apparently it got out of its cage and bit the father. Son called 911." Bobby explained.
"A viper? What kind of person has a snake for a pet?" Perri asked as she walked off, heading towards the police cruiser.
~~~~~~
After her shift had ended, Perri made her way to the firehouse. She wanted to thank the 118 for being to so welcoming, and she hoped that food would do the trick. Her first week in Los Angeles had gone by fast, and she didn't really have any friends yet outside of work, the 118 would have to do for now.
Perri was in the kitchen of the firehouse cooking dinner for the 118 and Athena. It has only been a week since she's been in Los Angeles and she wanted to do something to thank the 118 and Athena for being so welcoming.
"Whoa what smells so good?" Chimney asked as he walked upstairs, heading to the kitchen. The others were close behind him. Stopping at the kitchen island, looking at all the food.
Perri looked up and smiled at the members of the 118. "I-I uh wanted to wanted to say thanks for being so welcoming, and this is my thanks." she said motioning to the food.
"What is that?" Buck questioned as he moved closer to the island.
"Well, these are Chicago dogs." she said as she pointed to the dish before looking up at the firefighters with a large smile.
"You made all of this?" Hen asked gesturing to the food.
"Chicago dogs are quick and easy to make." She smiled. "Dig in and have as much as you want."
Perri waited for everyone to make their plate before making her own plate and sitting down between Buck and Hen.
"This is amazing. Can you cook for us at the end of every shift?" Chimney commented out loud
His comment got some giggles and a serious look from Bobby, "Do you hate my cooking or something?" Bobby chuckled
"What? No?" Chimney stumbled, "I'm going to shut up and eat." He said before taking a bite.
