pride

Sophie looked in the mirror, proud of the outfit she had chosen.

She was wearing a white t-shirt that read, 'WORLD'S OKAYEST LESBIAN', and rainbow arm warmers that fit snuggly beneath the shirt. She wore simple pink jeans, and black shoes with rainbow laces. In her hair was a hair bow with the colors of the lesbian pride flag, and she wore rainbow eyeshadow. She had a rainbow choker on.

Eliza and Chris already knew she was going, as they were going to drive her. There were crazily accepting.

She could only think of one family that was better.

As she got into the car parked out front, Eliza turned to her and squealed in delight.

"You look beautiful!" She cooed, gleaming. Sophie smiled, signing a quick thank you. The rest of the drive was in silence, as Sophie looked out the window. the closer they got, the more dressed-up people you could see. Everyone was wearing the colors of their pride flag.

When they pulled out into the main area, Eliza had only one thing to say.

"I'll be back around in a couple of hours. Text me when you're ready. Have fun!" she chimed. Sophie nodded, excitement controlling her now.

All around, people just like her were talking, having fun, being themselves.

She kind of wanted to be herself, too.

Amelia bounced around, in her strictly blue, yellow and pink outfit. Showing of her pansexual pride, all around her people were talking. She was by the main entrance, to see the flow of people in and out, when she noticed a familiar face.

A shy, smiling, silent face.

Her face turned red as she saw Sophie's outfit. Rainbows here, rainbows there. A classic 'WORLD'S OKAYEST LESBIAN' shirt. She didn't move. She stood rigid as Sophie walked towards Amelia, not seeing her just yet.

And then their eyes locked.

Amelia saw Sophie's face turn a shade of red similar to hers, and she hesitantly approached the girl.

'I didn't know that you were...' Sophie's hands paused, unsure of what to say. Amelia laughed nervously.

"Gay? Well, I wouldn't be here if I wasn't. You too, huh?" she said, her voice awkward. Sophie nodded.

'Wanna just hang out together, then?' Sophie signed. Her hands were still a bit shaky. Amelia nodded, her face breaking out into a smile.

'Okay. This is great. This is even better than before!' Amelia thought happily.

As the two went on their way, it was actually really fun. It was a bit embarrassing and awkward at some points, because people would assume they were a couple.

But whenever that happened, a few moments afterwards, Amelia noticed that Sophie would smile wider than she did before.
