"Yawn," went Professor Oak as he walked down the hall from his bedroom to the kitchen.
It was morning at the lab, and Professor Oak was on his way to his morning cup of coffee. He walked into the kitchen, the smell of fresh brewing coffee filling the air. Gary was already out feeding the Pokémon, as he preferred to start that just as the sun began to rise over the horizon. Tracy was spreading some peanut butter on some toast, and Professor Oak's breakfast of oatmeal was sitting at a spot on the table.
"Good morning Professor," Tracy said as Professor Oak pulled out his chair.
"Good morning," Professor Oak replied.
Tracy then placed a fresh cup of coffee in front of the Professor, then grabbed his coffee and breakfast to join him. Professor Oak took a sip of his coffee, then looked down at his breakfast.
"What is this?" asked the Professor.
"It's called Oatmeal," Tracy replied.
"I know what it is, but why am I being given this? Where's my eggs, bacon, and sausage?" asked the Professor with an annoyed tone.
"Your Doctor called yesterday after you left your appointment. He said your blood pressure is still to high and to change your diet for you, since you won't," Tracy replied.
"Tell me Tracy, does the doctor pay you?" asked the Professor.
"No," Tracy replied.
"And who does?" Professor Oak asked, in an almost annoyed tone.
"You do," Tracy replied in a beaten tone.
"Exactly. Now whip up some bacon and eggs," Professor Oak said triumphantly.
"We're out of bacon. I didn't get any since you were put on a diet," Tracy replied.
"Well, what am I supposed to eat then?" Professor Oak asked.
"Oatmeal is food. I already mixed in some apples and cinnamon. Just eat it today," Tracy replied.
"Fine, but your going to the store later to get the usual food," Professor Oak stated.
Just then the bell chimed that indicated a new Pokémon arrived.
"I'll take care of that, while you eat that. Some of us would like you to keep living," Tracy replied, then walked out.
"Damn quack. I feel as good now as I did ten, no twenty years ago. My diet is fine. Hell I'll probably live to be a hundred," Professor Oak huffed to himself.
"PROFESSOR, GET IN HERE!" Tracy yelled urgently.
Professor Oak scrambled to his feet and began running to the lab, knowing Tracy wouldn't yell like that without good reason. Professor Oak arrived at the lab to see Tracy with his back to him as he stood at the medical station. Since almost always a trainer would have to battle a Pokémon to capture it, many new Pokémon arrived wounded and required medical care, which they would provide.
"Tracy, what is it?" Professor Oak replied urgently.
Tracy didn't reply. He only stood there unresponsive. Carefully, Professor Oak walked over to Tracy, with a pokeball in hand as he was ready for a dangerous Pokémon. As he arrived, he froze in shock, as on the table laid a feminine looking Pokémon with green hair.
"Professor, what is it?" Tracy asked, recovering from his shock.
"I believe that is Meloetta, a mythical Pokémon. So rare no researcher alive has ever laid eyes on her," Professor Oak replied.
He looked over the unconscious Pokémon, and took note of the injuries.
"Who sent her?" Professor Oak asked.
"Serena," Tracy replied.
"Serena? Are you certain?" Professor Oak asked, not believing this.
"Yes," Tracy replied.
"Ok, we'll begin treating her injuries. I have a feeling we're going to be getting a phone call very soon," said Professor Oak.

Back inside the Huelva gym, everyone is frozen in shock as to what just happened. Just seconds ago, Meloetta was sucked into one of Serena's pokeballs, then was transported away.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Adam yelled as he recovered from the shock first.
A second later, Adam was running to the seats where Serena and Behati were at. Upon seeing this, Ash sprinted from the other end, as he could see how furious Adam was at the moment. Ash didn't care about his gym badge. He wasn't going to let Adam lay a finger on Serena, let alone yell at her. Adam reached their row and continued running.
"Adam, calm down! I saw the whole thing. It was just an accident," Behati said as she put her hands forward to stop him.
"What do mean, accident? How could this be an accident?" Adam asked angrily.
By this point, Ash had arrived behind Serena, as her Pokémon were in front of her. Neither were going to allow Adam past them.
"Meloetta was out cold when Serena caught her. One of her arms was dangling and hit one of Serena's pokeballs, and she got sucked inside. Like I said, she was knocked out. She couldn't even resist," Behati explained.
Adam started to calm down upon hearing this, though he was clearly still bothered by this.
"Adam, I am so sorry this happened. I'll release her as soon as she's back here," said Serena.
"Where did she go?" Adam asked, not acknowledging what Serena just said.
"Professor Oak's lab in Kanto," Serena replied.
"Ok then, let's go give him a call," Adam said calmly, but still sounding a little agitated.
They all then left the battlefield the way they came, but took a quick turn once out and down the hall. They soon arrived in a room a bit bigger than the dressing rooms Serena gets at the showcases. Adam walked to a video phone and gestured to Serena to sit down at the phone. Serena did and started to call Professor Oak's lab. The video phone only rang once when the Professor picked up.
"Serena, how did you manage to catch a Meloetta!?" asked Professor Oak as her face appeared on his screen, his voice still clearly in shock.
Serena proceeded to explain the circumstances that lead to her capturing Meloetta, then explained how she needed her back.
"I see, well she's being healed as we speak. I'll send her back to you as soon as..." Professor Oak replied before being cut off by an explosion.
"MELO MELOETTA!" Meloetta yelled from the lab.
A shadow ball was then seen flying across the screen as the Professor ducked. Another explosion was heard a second later.
"Meloetta calm down," Adam yelled at the video phone.
Meloetta flew in front of the screen with a worried look on her face.
"Melo melo etta Meloetta," Meloetta cried.
"Meloetta, you need to calm down. There was a big accident that happened right after you were knocked out. Professor Oak was healing you. As soon as your completely healed, he'll send you right back. But you need to calm down and let him work," Adam said trying to calm her down.
Meloetta nodded, and then floated off screen back to the medical station. Professor Oak then stood back up to be seen.
"Thank you very much sir," Professor Oak said graciously.
"No problem, but I would hurry if I were you. She's never been very patient. If you try and do any tests she'll probably level your lab," Adam warned.
"Noted. It's going to take a few more minutes. That is if she didn't break the equipment. I'll call you back immediately after," Professor Oak stated, then ended the call.
"Ash," Adam said getting his attention. "In all the commotion, I forgot to present you with your badge."
Adam extended his hand, holding out the badge. The badge was golden in color and looked like a microphone with headphones on it.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with your sound badge," said Adam.
Ash thanked him as he look the badge and placed it in his case.
"Since we're going to be here for a little while longer, why don't I get your Pokémon healed with mine," Adam stated as he released a Blissey from one of his pokeballs.
Ash then handed Blissey Pikachu and his pokeballs, as Adam did the same. She then proceeded to use heal pulse on all of them. Adam then looked over to Serena.
"I want to apologize to you for my behavior. I got angry at you without even knowing what happened," Adam said sensorially.
"It's ok, I understand. I imagine you two were close, and with the intensity of the battle," Serena said, accepting his apology.
"Close doesn't even feel like it describes it. My earliest childhood memories are of playing outside with Meloetta at my childhood home. She inspired me to become a musician, and when Maroon 5 was formed, she was our first fan. She would always go to every one of our performances in the city, from the dive bars when we started, to the sold out coliseums we perform at today," Adam said as he remembered his and Meloetta's history.
"Wow, it sounds like she's always been there for you," Serena commented.
"Yeah, I guess she had," Adam replied quietly, as he appeared to be realizing something.
A minute later, Professor Oak called back, stating that Meloetta was completely healed and ready for transfer. Since Serena was still bound by the six Pokémon limit, she sent Pancham to the lab in her place. Upon completion of the transfer Serena handed Meloetta's pokeball to Adam. He held the pokeball in his hand for a moment as he stared at it, then released Meloetta from inside.
"Meloetta!" Meloetta cried out happily upon being released.
She then rushed Adam and gave him a hug. She then saw Serena out of the corner of her eye and became very angry. She released Adam and charged at Serena, her eyes full of rage as she prepared to attack. Ash saw this and quickly got in front of Serena to protect her. Ash focused his aura into his arms as he crossed them in front of him, as to take as much of the hit as he could. Meloetta pulled her right hand back to slap whoever was in her way. As everyone was focused on Meloetta, nobody noticed Serena's eyes glow light red.
"MELOETTA STOP!" Adam yelled.
Meloetta's movements were so quick, her hand was coming down at Ash as the words left his mouth. Meloetta's hand came down and hit something, that wasn't Ash. She felt as though she hit something that she couldn't see, just an inch away from Ash.
"Thank you Meloetta. Now just calm down while I explain what happened," Adam told Meloetta.
To everyone else it appeared she broke off the attack at the last second, but to her she knew something weird just happened. As she knew she hit something, as she also could have sworn she saw Serena's eyes change back to their normal color.
Adam explained everything to Meloetta. She still wasn't happy, but she also didn't feel like she could really blame Serena either. Meloetta then floated over to Ash and Serena and bowed.
"I'm sorry for trying to hit both of you," Said Meloetta.
Even if Ash couldn't understand Pokémon speech, it was clear to everyone that she was apologizing.
"It's ok Meloetta, and I apologize to you as well for this whole circumstance. Like I told Adam, I'll release you," said Serena.
Meloetta's face lit up with joy upon hearing this. She then looked around for her pokeball, when she found it she flew over to smash it.
"Meloetta wait," Adam said urgently as he rushed over and grabbed the pokeball.
Everyone looked over at him curiously, uncertain as to why he stopped her.
"Meloetta, I've been wondering about something for a long time, and current events made me think about it even more. So I guess now is just as good a time as any," Adam said to Meloetta.
Her attention was now focused on him as to what he wanted to say.
"Meloetta, you have been a part of my family for over one hundred years. And as long as I've been around, you've always been there when we asked for you. You spend almost all your time between this gym and my house. You even have your own room in my house. This leaves me wondering, when was the last time you've done anything outside of this city? Do you have any friends outside of the family?" Adam asked.
"Mel o etta," Meloetta said as she crossed her arms and pouted.
"Meloetta, you know you need to write it down, I can't understand," Said Adam with a sigh.
"She said she has friends," Ash translated.
This got everyone's attention. Meloetta nodded, signaling Ash's translation was accurate. Adam then asked for Ash to translate the rest of the conversation.
"Ok, who? And you still didn't say if you go anywhere," Adam asked.
"Umm, other legendaries, and the Hall of Origin," Meloetta replied, not sounding convincing.
"And when was the last time you've seen your friends, or gone to the Hall of Origin?" Asked Adam.
Meloetta just shrugged while avoiding eye contact.
"You are a wild Pokémon, or at least you were. When was the last time you even left this town?" Adam asked.
Meloetta just pouted and looked away.
"Meloetta, I think it's time you took a vacation," Adam stated.
Meloetta looked back at him with a look of shock and sadness. Causing Adams heart to ache as he saw his oldest friends expression.
"You need to see more than this city. You're a mythical Pokémon. You can see the whole world, but you don't. I think it's time that you saw more," Adam said.
Tears began to form in Meloetta's eyes, as she felt like she was being pushed away. Adam quickly understood and took her into a hug.
"I'm not saying leave forever, and I'm not forcing you. I just feel that your sense of loyalty to the family is depriving you of living your life. I think starting with a couple month tour of Torrent would be a great start, and I think you should do it with Serena," Adam explained.
Everyone looked at him in shock, completely taken off guard by his words.
"Meloetta, Ash is going to be competing in the Torrent League, which means they are traveling around the region. So this also means you'll see me at the league. As for Serena, she's a performer, and not just any performer. She is a well respected performer that is opening up at those showcases I've seen you enjoy watching on TV," Adam explained.
Meloetta quickly turned her head to face Serena, a questioning look in her eyes.
"It is true. I am doing the opening performances," Serena confirmed.
"All I'm saying is travel a little and have some fun. Maybe even do a performance with Serena," Adam suggested.
Meloetta looked deep in thought.
'I do like the showcases and would like to perform, but is Serena worthy of having me in one of her performances? I just met this girl and she captured me, although it was an accident,' Meloetta thought to herself as she considered this idea.
"And how about this to put your mind at ease," Adam said to Meloetta, then looked to Serena. "Since there is no guarantee Meloetta will even want to even perform, why don't you transfer her to me. This way she might feel a little safer, and you'll still have full access to all of your Pokémon while you still carry her pokeball. I just want her to travel with you two so it'll put my mind at ease that she's safe. After you arrive at the Torrent League, if Meloetta still doesn't want to be a captured Pokémon, we shatter the pokeball so she can be free again to do as she wants," Adam suggested.
"That's fine with me," Serena replied.
All eyes were now back on Meloetta.
"So what do you think? I'm very confident that she will be a good trainer and friend, but this way if she doesn't listen to what you want or tries to run and keep you, the police would work to get you back," Adam states to Meloetta.
Meloetta sighs and nods in agreement.
"That's great," Adam replies.
"Meloetta, I hope we can become friends, and I promise I will treat you as well as I would any of our other Pokémon," Serena said.
"Serena, how about you and Ash come to the concert tonight as my guests. I already asked the stage manager to get you two backstage and pit passes," Adam offered.
"Thank you," Ash and Serena responded.
"Meloetta, you of course can enjoy the concert as you always have before your vacation begins," Adam stated.
Meloetta gave Adam a tight hug. She was sad, but also looked forward to seeing the region again, as it had been over one hundred years since she last did that.

Meanwhile back in the Kanto Region, deep within a Team Rocket base, Giovanni was walking through a large area where construction of a large machine was commencing. Some Team Rocket grunts noticed his presence, but didn't stop to acknowledge him. It was made clear the importance of this work, and they were not to stop unless specifically told to do so. They merely made sure to get out of his way quickly, as he and his entourage walked through.
Soon they reached the end of the large room and went through a set of double doors that opened up into a lab. Inside were several armed guards, and a few scientists wearing white lab coats working on computers. Giovanni walked past all of them and stopped in the back by two scientists wearing bright orange jumpsuits. These two scientists weren't there by choice, they were prisoners of Team Rocket.
The first was a heavy set man with red hair by the name Xerosic. He was the Team Flare head scientist before Ash stopped them in Kalos. This led to the capture and imprisonment of Xerosic, until he was broken out of prison and forced to work for them.
The second was a tall man wearing glasses, he had blonde hair with a blue streak, who went by the name Colress. He once worked as the lead scientist for Team Plasma, however saw the error of working for them and left. He was continuing his research into bringing out a Pokémon's full potential, however through much more ethical means. Team Rocket took him from his home several months ago, along with his wife Fennel.
"What is your progress, Drs?" Giovanni asked the two scientists.
"Even though the team you assigned me with had some set backs, we've managed to get back on schedule. We should be ready to begin construction of our last component by the beginning of next week," Xerosic replied as he trembled with fear.
"Excellent. And what of your team, Colress?" Giovanni asked in a pleased tone.
"Still working. I'll let you know when I'm done," Colress responded coldly.
Giovanni's expression was changed to a more serious one by Colress's response.
"I said I want a progress report," Giovanni said sternly.
"And I said I'll let you know. The team you gave me is completely incompetent. A team of trained Primeapes could be more useful." Colress then looked up from the computer to Giovanni. "They can't even comprehend half of the theories necessary for this project you force us to work on. If I were to use that team you assigned me, they would have gotten us all killed. I might hate you and all of Team Rocket, but I don't want to die as well."
"It's seems you need a reminder of your place," Giovanni said in a cold threatening tone.
Giovanni then snapped his fingers and a Team Rocket grunt handed him a cell phone, as another walked up beside him and began pressing buttons on a tablet.
"Persuade him," Giovanni said over the phone with an evil smirk plastered onto his face.
The grunt with the tablet then turned it around so the screen was facing Colress. On the screen was Fennel, strapped to a chair as she sobbed. She was still wearing the same purple dress she was wearing when Team Rocket captured them, but it was torn in several places from when Team Rocket grunts would grab at her.
"No," Colress said upon seeing the sight.
His heart was breaking upon seeing her condition. Fear filled his body, as he saw a grunt walk up behind her and place several wires to her skin.
"Just remember, this was your fault," Giovanni said in an evil tone.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH," Fennel screamed as thousands of bolts of electricity coursed through he body.
"No please stop, I beg you," Colress pleaded as he tried to run to Giovanni.
But instead, he fell to the ground as his legs were both chained to the desk that he worked at.
"It was a very simple question, progress report?" Giovanni said in an almost mocking tone, as if he was enjoying this.
"TWO WEEKS!" Colress yelled, wanting Fennel's torture to ends.
"Not good enough," Giovanni replied.
"I don't know how I'll do it, but it'll be on the same schedule as Xerosic's," Colress cried.
"Better," Giovanni said sounding pleased. "Enough," Giovanni said into the phone.
Fennel's screams died down as the electricity was turned off. Giovanni then took the tablet and placed it on the floor in front of Colress.
"I'll let you two have a minute, to help you put things back into perspective," Giovanni stated, then walked off.
Colress cried as he looked at Fennel, who had passed out from the pain. The movements of her breathing being the only sign that she was still alive.
"Don't worry Fennel, he'll pay for all of this. I'll see to it," Colress said to her softly.
