One month ago

At a secret Team Rocket base in the Johto region, a Team Rocket guard was just finishing his rounds through a server room. He then turned out the lights, walked out, and locked the door. Just a few seconds later, one of the ceiling tiles raised up by one of the security cameras, and a black gloved hand came down and attached a device to it before going back up and the ceiling tile went back in place. This repeated three more times at the remaining cameras, but at the last, instead of the tile going back in place, a figure dropped down. He was tall and was wearing all black. Even his face was covered leaving only his silver eyes exposed. He then ran to one of the servers and pulled out the key board and screen, and began typing. He wasn't at all worried about the security cameras, as the devices he placed on them caused the cameras to show a loop of the empty room. The man then connected a thumb drive and began copying Team Rocket files containing information about their activities all over the world.

This man had one goal in life, the destruction of Team Rocket, and he hoped these files containing their plans would help. As he was searching for any important files that weren't specific to a region, he found a file named Ash Ketchum. Curiously he opened the file and began reading about Ash's exploits against criminal organizations. The file mostly contained information about Ash, but also contained information about all of his traveling companions as well. As the man read the file he was impressed, and felt that he had found a kindred spirit, another whose goal was to stop Team Rocket. However all this changed when he saw the list of past orders regarding Ash, 'Do Not Kill', 'Push towards Teams Magma and Aqua', 'Push towards Team Galactic, 'Push towards Team Plamsa', 'Push towards Team Flare', and 'Capture before Operation Overlord'. This man now became confused by Ash's file, as he was starting to look like a Team Rocket tool, with his encounters with Team Rocket looking staged to keep his affiliation with the organization a secret.

The final capture order also left him curious, as it was a fairly recent order, meaning the operation listed must be still active. He quickly typed in a search of that operation, and found it under its own specific file and not affiliated with a specific region. He began to download the file as he began speed reading it, seeing that most of the operation preparation was being conducted in Kanto, but also with connections to Sinnoh, Kalos, and Unova. He speed read through the file, looking for the final location, and learned it would be held in Torrent.

Just as he was about to start reading over the details of the operation, he heard talking outside the door. Quickly he disconnected the thumb drive, hoping that enough of the files were downloaded and weren't corrupted, and ran to the opening left in the ceiling. A few seconds later the door opened and light were turned on, just as the ceiling tile was put back in place and the security cameras began operating normally.

About thirty minutes later in an empty alley, a manhole cover raised up and was moved to the side, as the man climbed out. He then started walking towards the street as he removed his mask, allowing his long red hair to drop. As he exited the alley, he walked within the crowd of ordinary people, disappearing as he blended in.

————————————————————————

An apartment door opened and the red haired man walked in as he turned on the light. It was a fairly large apartment with three bedrooms, one for the Pokémon, one used as an office where he gathers his information to be used against Team Rocket, and the final was the bedroom he shared with his girlfriend. As he walked further into the apartment, he turned more lights on, revealing several potted plants, pictures, and a shadow box containing the ribbons won by his girlfriend at various contests. He stopped in the kitchen and filled a tea pot with water and started heating it on the stove. He pulled out the thumb drive and placed it on the kitchen table, then left to get his laptop. By the time he plugged the thumb drive into the laptop, his water was already boiling. He then sat back down at the table with a cup of tea steeping as he evaluated the data he retrieved, specifically the file about Operation Master.

"Encrypted," the man said out loud as he realized he couldn't access the data. This wasn't too much of a surprise to him, despite his laptop having the usual software to read Team Rocket files, as the more significant operations generally had additional encryption. He then began typing as he tried to decrypt the data. The encryption was fairly easy beat, allowing him the begin reading, however this was short lived. Quickly he noticed his laptop was connected to the internet, which was unusual as he never connected it to the internet for security. He attempted to disconnect but to no avail, showing that even though he beat the encryption there was another safeguard in place. Realizing that the WiFi turning on could only mean the safeguard was to give away his position, he disconnected the thumb drive and threw the laptop into the kitchen sink and turned the water on. Smoke rose up from the laptop as arcing was heard, showing him the laptop was now nothing more than a paperweight.

With a sigh he picked up his tea, walked into the living room, and took a seat on the couch as he picked up his girlfriend's tablet. He didn't know much about Operation Overlord, but he did know it was important, and that it was going down in Torrent. With this, he started his research into the region.

After a little while of research, he heard the door unlock, followed by it swinging open as his girlfriend walked in. She was roughly half a foot shorter than him with long light blue hair in pig tails, while wearing white knee high boots with black thigh high stockings, white shorts, black shirt, a purple coat, white scarf, and a purple hat.

"Silver, I am sick and tired of all these appearances!" Silver's girlfriend cried out in frustration.

"Kris, you knew what you were getting into. Winning two Grand Festivals in a row means you knew the after-effects from the first time," Silver replied without looking away from the tablet.

The woman now identified as Kris glared at Silver as it seemed he was just brushing her off. "The appearances aren't the problem. It's the meet and greets after that are a problem. I don't mind the autographs, but these rich parents wanting to hire me to tutor their kid in coordinating is so annoying. And if one more of those dirty old men touches my butt again, I'm going to go postal!" Kris stated, seething with anger.

"Well maybe you should. At least they would learn to leave you alone," Silver replied casually.

"You know good and well I can't do that! Somebody needs to earn us money to live off of," Kris spat.

"I make money. I have multiple investments making money every month," Silver replied, still remaining calm.

"You use that money for your little war against your father and Team Rocket! I make the money we live off of!" Kris said as she moved the tablet away from Silver's face, forcing him to look at her.

"You need a vacation," Silver stated.

"Well of course I do, but where am I supposed to get that kind of money from?" Kris asked angrily.

"My checking account," Silver replied with a smirk.

"What?" Kris replied in a surprised tone. "You're taking me on a vacation? With your money?"

Silver nodded causing Kris's anger to disappear instantly as she sat down on his lap and kissed him passionately. "I love you," Kris said in a much more loving tone as she broke the kiss. "So where are we going?" Now sounding excited.

"How does the Torrent region sound?"

Present

Ash and Serena were happily eating breakfast at the Lleida Pokémon Center, as they are traveling to the city of Pamplona for the San Fermines, which is the world's largest fiesta. Palermo had told them both to take part in the local culture, so when they heard about the fiesta, and that it wasn't too far out of the way, they decided to make a detour. The young couple enjoyed Palermo's plan of enjoying the local culture, as they both felt it brought them closer.

Ash didn't however enjoy the social media aspect, he enjoyed living his life, not documenting it. Serena however was easily able to do both, and manage Ash's Poke'book page. Serena's page was primarily of the fun times, her performances, Pokémon, and her relationship with Ash. Ash's page however was a lot more simple looking. It of course contained pictures of the badges he earned, and his Pokémon, as well as when they evolved. Serena also put several pictures about their relationship. She did her best to keep it how she felt that her Pokémon crazy, battle obsessed Ash would have it, since she knew he didn't really care about it enough to do it himself.

But Serena didn't do this for nothing. She loved when she saw a friend request on his profile, as most of the friend requests came with a very entertaining story he would tell her when she asked about the person. This also had its negatives, as she also occasionally would see a crazy fan girl hitting on her Ash. She would ask about them just the same, but most of the time he had no clue who they were, meaning she could delete them. Honestly Ash had only known one fan girl. Her name was Melody and was from the Orange Islands. She sent a flirty message along with a suggestive photo, which told Serena all she needed to know about this girl. Even though Serena accepted the friend request for Ash, she made sure his profile picture was with the two of them together, and that his relationship status was up to date.

Ash, Serena, and their Pokémon ate their breakfast, completely unaware they were even being watched. Across the cafeteria, Silver sat eating his breakfast while watching them over Kris's shoulder as she sat in front of him. They had been in Torrent for two weeks now, and he had been secretly working hard trying to track Ash down, while also keeping this a secret from Kris. Silver didn't keep many secrets from her, and the ones he did were for her own protection. This meant anything he did against Team Rocket, she knew nothing to very little about. To her knowledge, this was just a simple vacation.

"Well I have to admit Silver, this trip was exactly what I needed. I almost forgot how mentally relaxing it was to just walk from town to town. No limos, no fans, no press, this is perfect. Thank you for planning all this," Kris said kindly to Silver.

Silver reached his hand across the table and put it on Kris's gently. "You're very welcome," Silver replied with a kind smile. His skills at keeping his observing a secret from Kris were beyond remarkable, as he could look right at Kris and see exactly what Ash and Serena were doing with his peripheral vision, and Kris couldn't even tell.

Kris looked away as to hide her blush. It wasn't that she didn't like to show Silver her emotions, as she showed him her love for him often. It was just something about Silver when he smiled that made her feel Butterfrees in her stomach.

As Kris was turned away Silver saw Ash and Serena return their Pokémon and leave their table. He then picked up his napkin and wiped his hands and around his mouth. "If you'll excuse me, I'll be right back," Silver said then walked off.

Silver exited the cafeteria behind Ash and Serena, carefully sneaking as he ensured he stayed out of their sight. Soon however, he saw them exit the Pokémon Center. He walked up to the door to see the direction they started walking in, then looked at the map on his phone to try and predict the route they were probably going to take. It didn't take Silver long to realize they were heading out of town. He looked back towards the cafeteria for a moment and thought about Kris, then ran out of the Pokémon Center.

————————————————————————

Ash and Serena had been out of town for about fifteen minutes, when they finally came to a stop. "Ok, show yourself. We know you're out there," Ash yelled. Ash could sense an aura following them for a while now, but thought nothing of it while they were in town. But now they were far enough away that he knew they were being followed. Out from behind a tree now came Silver as walked towards then and stared at them both with a piercing gaze.

"Do you mind explaining why you're following us?" Ash asked.

"I have questions for you. I regard to your affiliation with Team Rocket," Silver replied as he continued walking and detached two Pokéballs from his belt.

"Affiliation?!" Ash practically yelled with anger. "They have been stalking me since I was ten, and keep trying to steal my Pokémon."

"Are they? Or is that all an act for your cover?" Silver accused. "Team Rocket has a nice big file on you. And I have to admit I was almost fooled, but after you factor in all the orders against you, you look more like a covert operative."

"You have got to be kidding me!" Ash yelled in anger as his aura started to flare.

Serena could see Ash's rage, and despite her anger towards Silver for these accusations, she knew this was just a big misunderstanding. "Ash, calm down," Serena whispered into Ash's ear in a soothing voice as she wrapped her arms around him.

Ash calmed down a little, to a point where he had better control of his aura, but he was still furious with Silver.

"I don't work for Team Rocket, if I could I would take them down just like all the other groups," Ash stated in an angry but calm tone.

"And that's where you start looking suspicious. Multiple orders to push you towards these other groups, which results in you bringing them down, paving the way for Team Rocket to swoop in and take their personnel and resources," Silver stated, thinking Ash would stop the act. But to his surprise, a look of disbelief formed upon Ash's face.

"What?" was all that Ash could manage to say.

Silver was now becoming confused. He had become an expert at reading people, from the tone of their voice to body language. This aided him when questioning Team Rocket members to find lies and know when he was onto something. And right now he could see that Ash was truly enraged by the accusations, and the news of Team Rocket taking over other organizations as he defeated them looked like it was news to Ash as well. Silver kept his Pokéballs in his hand as his tone softened. "There was another order, do not kill. Despite what you did to other organizations, your work against Team Rocket should have called for a kill order by now, but instead I see that same order reissued again and again. If you're not an operative, then why don't they kill you?"

"I don't know," Ash replied. "I honestly had no idea they were even coming in behind me. I attacked those groups because I had to. Most would have destroyed the world."

"So you're saying that they've been using you without your knowledge," Silver deduced. Ash nodded. "These orders came directly from Giovanni himself. Think very carefully, why wouldn't he kill you?"

"I'm telling you I don't know!" Ash yelled frustrated. He then stopped and remembered what William told him about his mother's past. "You probably should asked a man named William. He's the newest member of the Torrent Elite Four."

"Why would he know?" Silver asked.

"He knows a lot about my family, as well as Giovanni before he became the leader of Team Rocket," Ash stated.

"What! How? I've sifted through so much Team Rocket data I should have seen him by now," Silver replied in shock.

"I don't know. Maybe Giovanni is scared of him. He and my parents attacked Team Rocket after Giovanni took over. Apparently my father actually got to him before Giovanni killed him," Ash explained.

"He must be keeping this data highly secured and off the server to keep anyone from learning about such a powerful threat to him," Silver thought out loud.

"Then why not just kill him?" Kris asked, announcing her presence. Ash and Serena looked at this new person, curious as to who she is. Silver on the other hand, looked at her with a sliver of fear as he wondered what she was going to do next.

"Hey Kris, what are you doing here?" Silver asked.

"Well, after I waited in the cafeteria for a while, I realized you weren't coming back. So I asked around and someone told me they saw you running this way, just for me to find out that this whole trip is really about you going after Team Rocket," Kris replied in a surprisingly calm tone.

"I'm sorry," Silver replied as he tried to walk closer to Kris, but was stopped by her raising her hand up.

"Yes you are sorry, and I am so angry with you for lying to me. But I also know how important bringing down Team Rocket is to you, so I will eventually forgive you," Kris explained, then gave a disturbingly pleasant smile. "Just know, you will pay for this later."

Silver breathed a sigh of relief, as he knew he could endure whatever punishment she hit him with, though losing her he couldn't handle.

"So back to my question. If Giovanni is so scared of this guy, why wouldn't he just kill him? Not to sound dark, but he could poison him, kill him in his sleep, or even have a sniper take him out," Kris asked again.

"You know the old saying, don't poke a sleeping Ursaring. He probably can't guarantee he would get him in one shot. If Giovanni failed, they'd come after him again," Serena stated.

"Whose 'they'?" Kris asked.

"Ash's mother also went after Giovanni," Silver answered.

"I don't know about that. After what William explained happened after Giovanni killed my dad, he should be more scared of my mom than anyone. There's more going on than we know, and the only people that do know aren't talking," Ash explained.

"What the hell is your mom, an assassin?" Kris asked.

"It's complicated," Ash hesitated. "But trust me, William didn't lie when he explained their last attack on Giovanni," Ash shuttered as he remembered the images William shared with him. "My mom is a true force to be reckoned with, and that's probably actually why Giovanni doesn't want me killed. He's probably truly scared of her."

"Well, I still don't know if I can trust you. This could all be some elaborate plot cooked up by Giovanni to capture me, or at least throw me off of whatever he's got in store for this region," Silver commented.

"What do mean? Is something coming?" Ash asked.

"Yes, but first," Silver then looked to Kris. "Kris I need to borrow your Alakazam," Silver said as he reattached his Pokéballs.

"First you lie to me, now you ask for favors," Kris said as she reached for her Pokéballs. "You better consider yourself lucky I'm in love with you." Kris then released her Alakazam, which then looked to her for instructions. She then pointed to Silver indicating he was the one who needed him.

"Alakazam, could you please check their minds and tell us if they are with Team Rocket, and if we can trust them," Silver requested. Alakazam nodded as his eyes glowed red. A few seconds later, Alakazam's eyes returned to normal as an astonished look formed on his face.

"Alakazam, are you ok?" Kris asked.

"I think he realized I'm a psychic," Serena stated.

"What?! Really?!" Kris replied in shock.

"Alakazam, can we trust them?" Silver asked. Alakazam nodded as he looked at Ash, for even though he could read his mind, Ash was definitely something he never had sensed before. "Good. Thank you Alakazam."

Kris then returned Alakazam to his Pokéball.

"So, what is Team Rocket planning?" Ash asked again.

"I don't know the details unfortunately. I stole the file, but I couldn't get through the security on it, and I lost two computers trying. What I do know is this is the biggest operation Team Rocket has ever planned, and it has parts of it happening in almost every region. But Torrent is where this is going to put into effect," Silver replied.

"Do you know when?" Serena asked.

"Soon, in the next few months. But I can't be more specific than that," Silver replied.

"That's a pretty big window of time there. How are we supposed to stop them?" Kris asked.

"They want Ash captured before they put this operation into action. So as long as Ash stays free, we should be ok," Silver replied.

"Well, now I know why they've been trying to capture me more than my Pokémon," Ash commented.

"And I would expect them to come after you even harder now, especially if they've seen you use your aura," Silver replied.

Ash was about to question Silver as to how he knew about him being an aura user, but then remembered how his aura was flaring earlier.

"Maybe we should all exchange our phone numbers, incase either of us learn anything," Serena suggested.

"Good idea. Silver might not be good about sharing, but I'll be sure to let you two know if we learn anything," Kris replied.

The four trainers exchange numbers, then part ways as they all mentally prepared for whatever Team Rocket is up to.

————————————————————————

Meanwhile in the main Team Rocket base in Kanto, Giovanni's assistant walks into the Rocket boss's office.

"Giovanni sir. The trio just reported in. Silver has made contact with Ash Ketchum," the assistant said as she placed a cup of coffee on the desk in front of Giovanni.

"Excellent, just as predicted. This is proving to be well worth the small security breach to allow him to steal those files. Although he is my son, he probably could have stole those without our help," Giovanni replied. "What is Steal's status?" Giovanni asked as he picked up the coffee and took a sip.

"Steal reported that they recovered the plate, and are heading to the main Sinnoh base for an airlift to here. He should arrive by tomorrow. The science team also reports that construction is nearly complete and should be ready early next week," the assistant replied.

"Very good. Soon all our years of hard work will finally be paying off."
