Second, today is the beginning of Ash's final gym battle. It has been written by RahulKalosChamp , so let's give him a big thanks for all his hard work.

Well I'm done, if you like my work please vote, feel free to comment, and please share this story with your friends. I now present to you Chapter 64. Enjoy.

Ash and the gang were on their way to the Burgos City Gym so Ash could earn his final gym badge. Yesterday, Ash and Gary battled so he could collect more data about Drakeon, but Gary wanted more. Lillie and Serena even had a battle to gather more data, and even watched Ash and Serena train with them this morning. Gary ultimately was never going to be satisfied, so Ash invited him and Lillie to watch his next gym battle, with the promise he was going to use Drakeon.

Upon arriving at the gym entrance, Ash pushed open the double doors to the gym. The inside was dark, only being dimly lit by candles along the walls. After they entered, the doors slammed shut behind them, causing them to jump. It was even darker now, and they could only see a short distance ahead of them.

"Who dares to enter this place?!" a voice boomed and echoed through out. The voice was clearly that of a man, and was rough sounding and old. Ash could clearly understand the purpose of the darkness now. As that combined with the sound of the man's voice could easily scare and intimidate anyone without a strong enough resolve.

"I do! My name is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, and I've come to challenge the gym leader for my eighth gym badge," Ash replied loudly as he used his aura to try and locate the source of the voice.

"Eight? Impressive. That means you must have at least some skills," the voice commented before continuing. "And what about the others, I do not like spectators?"

"My name is Gary Oak." Gary answered as he stood proudly.

"And I am Lillie Aether." Lillie replied as she clung to Gary's arm.

"We are doing research on one of Ash's Pokémon," Gary explained.

"You are related to Samuel Oak?" The voice asked.

"He's my grandfather. The research was ordered by him," Gary replied.

"I will allow your presence out of respect for your grandfather, as long as you do not interfere with the battle. And what of you Ms, why are you here?" The voice replied as it acknowledged Serena.

"My name is Serena Yvonne, I am Ash's girlfriend, and I am here to support him," Serena replied with a commanding presence, as she and Ash looked right at the man through the darkness.

"You will leave. I do not allow spectators," the voice replied.

"No! I've been here supporting Ash through all of his gym battles, and I will not stop now," Serena replied sternly.

"Then there will be no battle," the voice replied. The owner of the voice then stood up from his chair, but found himself forced back down into.

"You will battle Ash! And I will stay to support him!" Serena spat back as her eyes glowed red.

"Hahaha," the voice chuckled darkly. "You are an interesting couple. Very well," the voice replied in an dark amused tone. They then heard the snapping of fingers and the lit candles sent flames up at least two feet into the air, as several torches with mirrors behind them also lit, illuminating the entire room, revealing the battlefield before them. They could also now see the source of the voice directly in front of them sitting in what could only be described as a king's throne. He was an old man that appeared to be in his upper fifties to early sixties, with a long gray beard that matched the hair on his head. He wore a black scarf on his forehead, black pants, a gray button down shirt with a black vest over it, and a black and gray tie around his neck similar to Siebold's that held a key stone at the knot. "Ash Ketchum, I am Gibson the Burgos Gym Leader, and I accept your challenge." The man could then stand as Serena's eyes returned to normal.

As the man got up from the throne to walk towards his trainer box, Ash and the others approached the battlefield, explaining that the battle was going to be a three on three battle, with both trainers swapping out their Pokémon for each round as he walked. Quickly they realized there was no retaining wall or seats for spectators, showing that Gibson truly didn't like having anyone other than challengers watching. Deciding that Gibson was probably going to do his best to keep the battle away from his throne, Gary and Lillie set up the test equipment beside it, with Serena's help.

————————————————————————

Ash and Gibson stood in the trainer boxes on opposing ends of the battlefield. Gibson appeared to be taking his time picking out his first Pokémon, his right hand going over each of the Pokéballs on the rack beside him. By reading Gibson's aura, Ash could see this was his natural behavior. No doubt he would use it to get under the skin of less experienced or easily provoked trainers. But Ash was above all that now, and just patiently waited as Gibson picked his Pokémon, while Gary and Lillie finished setting up.

"Absol you're up," Gibson called out as he threw his first Pokéball.

Ash had already chosen all three Pokémon he wanted to use plus one alternate, just incase Gibson's final was too powerful for his last Pokémon to handle. Ash grabbed his first Pokéball and let it fly. "Incineraptor, I choose you!"

"Both trainers ready?" Ash and Gibson nodded.

"Battle Begin!"

"Absol, begin with Stone Edge!"

"Incineraptor, jump up to dodge and then use Flamethrower!"

Absol got up on his hind legs then slammed down on the ground with his front legs, sending a line of tall sharp rocks with a blue glow shooting out of the ground towards Incineraptor. Due to his powerful legs, Incineraptor was able to jump high up into the air, dodging the stone edge. As he did this, he also began building up his flamethrower attack, so once he was clear of the stones and had a clear shot, he opened his mouth and unleashed a powerful red orange flame.

"Absol, Megahorn and cut right through the flames."

The horn on Absol's head glows green and grows in size as he charges in towards the flamethrower. Absol winces in pain as he moves through the fire, but he endures and eventually Megahorn hits Incineraptor, leaving Absol with only slight burn marks.

"Looks like we're evenly matched," Ash comments.

But Gibson smirks a devilish smirk, "Absol, use Swords Dance."

Absol's eyes glow light blue as multiple blue swords appear and circle around him before turing towards him before disappearing. A red aura then bursts out from underneath Absol as his attack power is boosted.

"While he's distracted, Incineraptor, use Earthquake!"

"Absol, Iron Tail and hit the ground."

Incineraptor jumped up into the air, then slammed down on the ground causing tremors. Meanwhile Absol's tail glowed, he then jumped up into the air, did a flip, and hit his tail into the ground, effectively canceling out the earthquake.

"Incineraptor, use Rock Slide."

"Absol, use Aerial Ace and dodge and then hit Incineraptor."

Incineraptor creates several white orbs over his head, that soon turn into large rocks with white outlines. Then with a roar, the rocks shoot at Absol. Absol starts running towards Incineraptor as his body becomes surrounded by white streaks. Absol weaves in and out of the rocks, effectively dodging all of them, then slammed right into Incineraptor.

Ash smirks, "Incineraptor, catch Absol and use Flamethrower!"

Incineraptor grabs onto Absol and digs his claws into his back and right shoulder to hold on as his arms are not very strong. He then opens his mouth and releases a powerful red orange flame. Incineraptor releases Absol as he concludes his flamethrower. Absol backs away a little wobbly, but still standing.

"Incineraptor, use Earthquake again while you have the chance!"

"Absol, Iron Tail on the ground again."

Both Pokémon launch their attacks, but this time Iron Tail doesn't stop the Earthquake as Absol is weaker, resulting in him being hit.

"I won't give up that easily. Absol, use Aerial Ace."

"Incineraptor, draw it near..... now use Flamethrower"

"Won't work again. Absol, switch to Zen Headbutt."

Incineraptor begins firing the red orange flames, but Absol goes through flames and hits him powerfully in the stomach causing the flamethrower to stop.

"Now Absol, use Psycho Cut!"

Absol's horn on his head glows purple as he swings his horn in a diagonal down motion, sending a purple blade like crescent at Incineraptor. The attack is at close range so Incineraptor can't dodge, causing him to cry out after being hit in the chest.

"Incineraptor, use Lava Plume!"

"Absol, use Stone Edge to dodge."

Incineraptor roars as the ground around him explodes, creating an inferno around him. At the same time, Absol hits both of his front paws onto the ground, and a blue stone pillar formed underneath him sending him up into the air. The explosion from the Lava Plume destroyed the pillar, but not before Absol was already up in the air and out of harm's way. The explosion of the pillar sent Absol flying back, taking no damage, and he landed in his feet.

"Looks like you aren't backing down. You must have really earned those seven badges. That's good, because you're going to need everything you've got to defeat me. Absol, Swords Dance!"

"Incineraptor, Sunny Day!"

Absol's eyes glow light blue as multiple blue swords appear and circle around him before turing towards him before disappearing. A red aura then bursts out from underneath Absol as his attack power is boosted. Meanwhile Incineraptor roared and an artificial sun formed up in the air above them, increasing the power of his Fire Type moves.

"Now Incineraptor use Flamethrower!"

"Absol, finish this with Zen Headbutt!"

Incineraptor opens his mouth and unleashes a powerful flamethrower, as Absol charges in with his head glowing light blue. Absol goes right into the flames and smashes his head right into Incineraptor's mouth causing an explosion as the flamethrower stops. Everyone waits to see the results as the two Pokémon are hidden in a dust cloud. As the dust settles Absol can be seen first, burned and breathing heavily. Then Incineraptor is seen in the ground with swirly eyes.

"Incineraptor is unable to battle." The referee announces.

Ash returned Incineraptor and thanked him as he reached for his next Pokémon as Gibson did the same. "Drakeon, I choose you!" Almost instantly upon those words leaving Ash's mouth, Sylveon and the female Drakeon emerged from their Pokéballs to cheer on their son/brother.

"What in the world?" Gibson said in shock as he saw the dragon type eeveelution take the field. He then saw Gary and Lillie were clearly more focused on their work, showing this was the Pokémon they were waiting for. He studied the Pokémon briefly as he tries to ascertain its type so he could make the best choice. He then pulled a Pokéball and whispered something before throwing the Pokéball, releasing a Melmetal.

————————————————————————

"You've got to be kidding me," Gary groaned.

"What's wrong?" Serena asked as she scanned Melmetal with her Pokédex.

"That's a Melmetal, a mythical Steel Type Pokémon. Gramps doesn't have much information on those, but I don't have enough equipment to properly study both," Gary replied.

"Why can't your grandfather just study Ash's?" Lillie asked, resulting in both Gary and Serena staring at her with shocked expressions. "What? Did I say something wrong?"

"Ash has one of those?" Gary asked as he pointed to Melmetal.

"Yes. Professor Kukui asked Ash to leave his with him for research purposes. Didn't Ash tell you?" Lillie replied.

Gary then looked to Serena, who shook her head to show she knew nothing about Ash having a Melmetal. "No he didn't tell us, but be certain that I will be asking him about it after the match."

————————————————————————

"Drakeon, attack with Extreme Speed."

"Speed, huh? Guess I can counter that. Use Agility," Gibson counters.

Drakeon becomes surrounded by a white aura as he starts running to a point where his legs become a blur. Then right before he hit, Melmetal disappeared then reappeared about foot away, narrowly dodging the attack.

"Now use Flamethrower," Gibson called out.

Ash's eyes widened in shock at this command, as this was the second move ordered that didn't match up with this Pokémon.

From the opening in Melmetal's chest, a red orange flame erupted and engulfed Drakeon.

"Drakeon, are you alright?" Ash asked with concern.

"Drakeon!" Drakeon replied as he stood back up and shook off the pain.

"Great, now use Dragon Pulse!"

"Counter with Dark Pulse."

The dragon shaped multicolored blast fired from Drakeon's mouth and collided with the beam of black and purple circles that fired from the hole in Melmetal's chest, creating an explosion and dust cloud.

"What's going on here? Flamethrower, Dark pulse, Agility, Melmetal can't learn those.  There's only two possibilities, and based on this Gibson and his gym, I'm pretty sure I know which," Ash thought out loud. "Drakeon, get in close with Extreme Speed and then use Dragon Pulse again!"

"Dodge it!"

Melmetal tried to dodge, but wasn't fast enough and was hit by the multicolored dragon energy. When the dust settled it was not a Melmetal standing, but a Zoroark.

"So it seems our cover has been blown. No matter, use Agility," Gibson said calmly.

"Speed won't do any damage. Drakeon, use Extreme Speed."

Drakeon charges at Zoroark at blinding speed while Zoroark just stands there. Zoroark then begins glowing with a red aura, and right before Drakeon hits her, she seems to disappear for a second before reappearing beside Drakeon. She then grabs him by the tail and pulls, causing Drakeon to stumble. Zoroark then begins spinning Drakeon before throwing him towards Ash. Drakeon uncontrollably flies through the air and slams into the wall above Ash, before beginning to fall. However Drakeon is able to catch himself and used his wings to glide down for a safe landing back onto the battlefield, breathing heavily.

"Alright Drakeon, use Draco Meteor!"

Drakeon opened his mouth and fired an orange ball of dragon energy into the air. The ball then exploded sending multiple glowing balls raining down.

"Use Agility to dodge!"

Zoroark began moving so fast that she appeared to be momentarily disappearing and reappearing as she dodged the falling attack. However, eventually she stopped too close to one of the balls as it hit the ground and was blown off her feet. Before she could get back up three of the balls made a direct hit on her, dealing heavy damage.

"Not bad Ash, that was a pretty powerful attack. Zoroark, Flamethrower!"

"Drakeon, use Dragon Rush to break through it!"

Drakeon began charging at Zoroark as a bright blue energy begins coming out from under his wings and forms around his body as he jumps up and takes flight. By the time he hit the flames, his entire body was surrounded by the blue energy and he was shooting at Zoroark like a rocket. He then slammed into Zoroark with incredible force, but she managed to remain standing.

"Good, now you're too close to dodge. Use Toxic!"

"Huh? Quick, use Protect!"

Zoroark opened her mouth and sent out a stream of a thick purple liquid. However Drakeon was able to form the bluish green barrier in front of it. The poison hit the barrier but only ran off of it onto the ground.

"You caught me by surprise, but it won't happen again. Extreme Speed!"

"Agility, meet it head on."

Both Pokémon pushed into each other as they tried to move one an other, but to no avail.

"Use Night Slash now!"

"Twister!"

Zoroark's right claw glowed crimson as she raised it up into the air to strike. Meanwhile Drakeon begins flapping his wings rapidly, forming a twister around them. Zoroark tried to bring her claw down to strike Drakeon, but the twister lifted her off the ground. She spun around inside the twister, making her way up to the top before she was thrown out.

"Now Thunder."

"Dodge with Agility, then get in close."

Zoroark managed to land on her feet hard as Drakeon sparked with electricity. Drakeon then fired a bolt of yellow electricity, but Zoroark was able to dodge right before it hit.

"Use Dragon Rush!"

"Focus Blast, now!"

Drakeon began charging at Zoroark as a bright blue energy begins coming out from under his wings and forms around his body as he jumps up and takes flight. Meanwhile Zoroark formed a yellow ball of energy between her claws. As Drakeon was rocketing towards her, Zoroark fired her attack, hitting him in the wing. Due to his inexperienced flying, this caused Drakeon to lose his balance and crash into the ground, however he only took minor damage from the hit and crash.

"Let's end this, Dragon Rush full power!"

"Fine by me, now Dark Pulse!"

Drakeon began charging at Zoroark as a bright blue energy begins coming out from under his wings and forms around his body as he jumps up and takes flight for the last time this battle. Zoroark puts her hand in front of her chest and fires a beam of black and purple circles. The two attacks collide, as the Dark Pulse manages to hold Drakeon in place. Drakeon refuses to lose again when Ash needed him, and with a roar the Dragon Rush then exploded with energy as it doubled in size and resembled a dragon. He then pushed through the Dark Pulse and hit Zoroark creating a large explosion. The dust cloud that formed hid the results of the battle, but soon Drakeon emerged. Walking out of the cloud with a limp and his left wing hung down, he emerged showing he was still technically able to continue the battle. A few seconds later, the dust cloud settled enough to show Zoroark lying on the ground with swirly eyes.

"Zoroark is unable to battle! Drakeon is the winner!" Announced the referee, resulting in Sylveon and the female Drakeon cheering as loud as they could.

Gibson returned Zoroark and thanked her. Ash was about to do the same but was stopped by Pikachu as he raised the Pokéball. "Pikachu?"

"Let him have his moment," Pikachu replied, then watched his son with pride.

Ash looked back over at Drakeon too as he limped towards him and Pikachu. Ash at first didn't understand what Pikachu meant. He was limping, so Ash would imagine Drakeon would appreciate not having to walk all the way. But then he looked at his face to see a proud smile plastered on. Drakeon walked up to Ash, with his head held high, doing his best to hide his exhaustion and pain. As he arrived at Ash and Pikachu, he looked up to them with a smile.

"Great win son, I'm proud of you!" Pikachu said to his son with a proud smile.

"You did great Drakeon. Now how about a good rest," Ash said as he held out the Pokéball. Drakeon nodded, and Ash returned him to his Pokéball, then looked back at Gibson as he awaited his final Pokémon.
