It was morning in Valencia, and the first day of the Moltres Cup, a fire type exclusive tournament. Currently, one of the competitors was flying in with his girlfriend on his Garchomp. As he flew over the Pokémon Center, he could see several trainers and their Pokémon doing warm ups and squeezing in some last minute training. Many didn't look very impressive to him, but there were a few that showed some promise.

"Please can we land?" the girlfriend pleaded.

"Land us near the front door," he instructed Garchomp with a smirk.

His girlfriend had usually been pretty strong and confident, however this trip showed him her biggest weakness, a severe fear of heights. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, as he didn't like to ride his Pokémon very often. However, this time they didn't have a choice, as they wouldn't have made it to the tournament in time on foot.

As Garchomp landed, the girlfriend released her boyfriend, allowing him to take his first normal breath since they took off, since she had her arms wrapped around him so tight. She jumped down and went straight to her knees, so happy to be on solid ground. He then jumped off onto the other side of Garchomp.

"Your speed and endurance have improved. Good work," he praised in a calm tone.

Garchomp nodded as he returned it to its pokeball. Once Garchomp was in its Pokéball, he saw his girlfriend frantically trying to fix her hair.

"Let's go inside. You can use the bathroom mirror to fix your hair," he said.

"You're joking, right? I'm not going in there with my hair a complete wreck. What if someone sees me looking so bad and recognizes me? I need to at least fix it some," she stated.

"You didn't seem to care about your hair last night after I ran my fingers through it," he replied.

"First, it was only you, and second, I'm pretty sure you weren't even looking at my hair with what I was doing to you," she said back with a flirty smirk.

After another minute, they were walking into the Pokémon center. Once inside they could see things were very busy, and there was a pretty good variety of fire types out. There were multiple trainers boasting of how strong their Pokémon were, and how they would win the tournament with only the one Pokémon. But this trainer didn't pay any attention to these trainers, because he knew it didn't matter how many Pokémon a trainer used in the tournament, all that mattered in the end was that the Pokémon won.

"Hello Paul. Why am I not surprised to see you here?" a voice said from the side of the trainer.

Paul turned to see none other than Ash, with Pikachu sitting on his shoulder.

"Because for some reason, whenever we're in the same region, we keep running into each other," Paul replied.

The two then extended their hands and gave a firm hand shake. Unlike with Gladion and Gary, which was more of a show of strength, this was one of respect.

"Hey Ash," Miette chimed in, making her presence known.

"Hey Miette. Nice seeing you again. So it looks like Paul hasn't run you off yet," Ash commented.

"No, he's learned a few ways to keep me around," Miette replies as she hugs Paul's arm. "But where's Serena? You didn't run her off, did you?"

"No he didn't," Serena replied from behind.

Miette released Paul as she turned around and greeted her friend with a hug.

"Good to see you again. I saw you performance on TV last night. Nice work. And you caught a Tauros for it too," Miette said.

"Actually the Tauros was Ash's. He let me borrow him," Serena replied.

"You let her borrow one of your Pokémon for a performance?" Paul questioned as he looked at Ash.

"I've got thirty Tauros. I've only trained a handful of them. That one hadn't even left Professor Oak's lab before this," Ash replied.

"Why so many?" Miette asked.

"It's a long and kind of funny story," Ash replied.

"Well, you can tell us while we get our Pokémon checked out before the tournament," Paul stated, then looked to Miette. "Hand me your Pokéballs. I'll hand them to Nurse Joy."

Miette handed Paul three Pokéballs, then leaned in and gave him a kiss. When she did, Serena noticed what looked like a bruise near the base of Miette's neck.

"Ash Ketchum and Serena Yvonne. Your Pokémon are ready," Nurse Joy announced over the loud speaker.

"I'll get yours," Ash said to Serena.

Ash then gave Serena a kiss, then headed up to Nurse Joy's desk with Paul, leaving Serena and Miette alone.

"Miette, is everything ok?" Serena asked in a concerned tone.

"Yes, why?" Miette replied.

"I'm pretty sure I saw a bruise near the base of your neck," Serena replied.

Miette chuckled as she blushed a little.

"You mean this?" Miette asked as she pulled the collar of her shirt down a little.

"Yeah, but why does it look like a bite mark?" Serena asked.

"I wanted to experiment with being kinky with Paul a little," Miette replied with a smirk.

"So you chose biting?" Serena replied slightly confused.

"Well Paul likes when I bite him during sex, so I figured I'd try it out. Not my thing, but I do kind of like being on the giving end," Miette replied. "So do you and Ash have any kinky sex secrets?" Miette teased.

"No!" Serena replied quickly.

"Well, maybe you to could try this. How about I borrow Ash tonight and see if he likes it, and you can try giving to Paul?" Miette teased.

"MIETTE!" Serena practically yelled, with a very flustered look on her face.

"Ok then, how about we all just share a room and we can take turns with each other's man, and they take turns with us?" Miette teased again.

Now Serena was redder than a tomato, and looked like she was going to explode any second.

"HAHAHAHA!" Miette busted out laughing. "You are still so much fun to tease. Don't worry, I wasn't being serious. I won't let any other woman than me have sex with my Paul, and I don't want to have sex with any other man than Paul," Miette confessed.

"Good," Serena replied as she tried to calm down.

"Well, it's good to see you're seeming ok," Miette said in a much more serious tone.

"What do you mean?" Serena asked.

"I ran into Shauna and Trevor about a week ago. They told me about Tierno," Miette stated, with a sympathetic look on her face.

Serena then realized Miette was right. Normally, any thoughts of the attack, or even of sex in general would drive Serena into a state fear and panic. Serena then forced herself to think about the attack, she did feel afraid, but not the paralyzing fear she used to feel. This actually made her feel a little happy, as this proved that Tierno no longer had ahold of her.

"Serena?" Miette said, as she saw Serena looked deep in thought.

"Hmm?" Serena replied.

"Are you ok?" Miette asked.

"Yes, I'm fine," Serena replied with a genuine smile.

Shortly after, Ash and Paul returned, and Ash told the story of why he has so many Tauros. Miette found the story funny, while Paul was just irritated by it. He stated how he went to the Safari Zone in Kanto before and how he used five Safari balls in an attempt to just capture one, but that it wouldn't stay in, resulting in him deciding it wasn't worth the frustration.

After Paul and Miette's Pokémon were returned they proceeded to the stadium that was used yesterday for the showcase, as it was being used for the tournament today. Ash and Paul registered, and they all entered the arena to find their seats to watch the tournament. The stadium was packed, with banners hanging with a red silhouette of Moltres on them, as well as painted on the battlefield, with an unlit torch in each corner of the battlefield and on both sides of the trainer boxes.

After a few minutes of waiting, a man began to walk onto the battle field. He was tall and muscular with short brown hair. He was wearing a long red and white coat that almost touched the ground, with black boots. On either side walking beside him were two Pokémon, to his right was an Arcanine, and to his left was an Infernape. Everyone wondered who this was, until his face appeared on the two large screens in the stadium, leaving Ash and Serena surprised to see him again.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, welcome to this year's Moltres Cup!" He announced, causing everyone to cheer. "I am William, the newest member of the Torrent Elite Four, and will be the guest announcer for this year's tournament!"

Suddenly, the two fire types burst into flames. They jumped into the air and slammed back down near the edge of the battlefield, closest to the trainer boxes. The whole field was engulfed in fire quickly, igniting the torches, as well as several fireworks that shot into the air. No one could see it, but as the flames closed in on William, his eyes glowed blue, and his body was covered in a blue aura. People were shocked, and thought he was burned to a crisp, but then the fire on the field dissipated, revealing he was just fine. The audience cheered for the fiery display.

"Now I know you all didn't come here to hear me talk. You came here to see some fire type battles!" William said, getting the audience to roar in excitement. "So let's get this show on the road and see the first round line ups!"

The pictures of all thirty two competitors appeared on the screens in sets of two.

"Alright, in our first round we have, Ash Ketchum versus Steven Trace!" William announced, then proceeded to go over the remaining match ups, and explained where the participants were to go.

"Well, looks like we'll have to make it to make it to the finals if we're going to face each other," Ash commented to Paul.

"Then there shouldn't be much of problem then. Most of these trainers look like they'll be disappointing," Paul replied casually.

"You never know. Somebody could pull out a surprise," Ash replied.

Serena then gave him a kiss for luck, and he left for his first battle.

Ash followed the instructions, and was walking down a long concrete hallway, when he ran into none other than William.

"Hey Ash. Good luck with your match," William said.

"Thanks. Why didn't you tell me you were going to be here?" Ash asked.

William groaned.

"I wasn't supposed to be, Azazel was," William replied.

"Really? What happened to him?" Ash asked.

"He had a last minute change of plans," William replied, as he remembered the call.

Flashback: 3 days ago

It was night time, and William was in his home sitting on the couch with his wife Aubrey. They were watching the newest adventure comedy mystery movie that was just released, Detective Pikachu. It was a peaceful night, as they enjoyed the movie, ate popcorn, and drank beer and wine, when the phone started ringing and a message came up on the TV screen, indicating the caller.

William groaned, "Leave me alone, you idiot."

The phone continued to ring. Aubrey then paused the movie and stood up.

"Just answer it so we can get back to the movie. I'm going to get more wine," Aubrey stated, and walked off to the kitchen.

William picked up the TV remote and pressed the button to answer the call. Azazel then appeared on the screen, but he wasn't facing William. He was clearly in his kitchen working on something with his back to the screen.

"Hello Azazel," William greeted, in a slightly annoyed tone.

"Hey William. Sorry to bother you so late, but I need your help," Azazel said as he turned around to face him.

"What is it?" William replied.

"I need you to cover for me as the guest announcer at the Moltres Cup in Valencia," Azazel asked.

"I don't know. Why can't you do it?" William asked.

"Because Goodshow just asked me to go Sinnoh to battle Cynthia on the same day. Lance was supposed to, but he had to cancel due to having strep throat," Azazel replied.

William then put is right hand on his forehead in frustration. Under these circumstances, Azazel could have refused battling in another region, if it was any other champion he was battling on such short notice, but the problem was it was Cynthia. Azazel had a huge crush on Cynthia and wanted any chance he could get to spend time with her. The problem was, Cynthia was smarter than him, and Azazel was a complete idiot. He would try and flirt with Cynthia, but he would crash and burn worse than Adler every time.

"Azazel," William groaned. "You know that the Moltres Cup is only three days away, right? This is extremely last minute. You know I don't like last minute plans."

"I know, and normally I wouldn't ask you. But seeing as you are the newest member of the Elite Four, you really need some more publicity. You always do great with the public and are always loved. You just need to get out there more and make some more appearances," Azazel explained, as smoke started to rise behind him.

William then heard Aubrey clear her throat. He looked and saw her nodding her head, giving him her approval to go.

"Fine," William replied.

"Thank you so much," Azazel replied.

Just then a flame shot up into the air behind him.

"Your kitchen is on fire," William stated.

Azazel then turned around.

"OH SHIT!" Azazel yelled and ran off screen.

A few seconds later, he was back with a fire extinguisher, spraying the whole area with foam. William just watched the scene unamused, and in about a minute the fire was out and Azazel stopped.

"Thanks," Azazel said as he put the fire extinguisher down and was trying to calm his heart down.

"What were you even doing?" William asked.

"I was trying to make fried ice cream. I'm trying to impress Cynthia," Azazel replied.

"How did you start a fire trying to make fried ice cream?" William asked.

"I don't know." Azazel replied as he shrugged.

"Well, maybe you should look at the recipe to see what you did wrong, and maybe get a new thermometer for checking the oil temperature," William replied.

"Wait, I'm supposed to use a thermometer?" Azazel asked.

"Considering you're just using a pot, yes! Didn't the recipe tell you what temperature to get the oil to?" William asked.

"Recipe?! Ha, don't make me laugh. A real man doesn't follow instructions! He does things his own way and makes it work!" Azazel said proudly.

"You're an idiot," William groan as he sweatdropped.

"What did you say?" Azazel genuinely asked.

"Never mind. I'll cover the Moltres Cup while you go to Sinnoh. Bye, and don't burn your house down," William replied, then ended the call.

————————————————————————

"Alright, time to get this show on the road. Just be ready to come out when I call your name," William instructed to Ash, then walked out towards the battlefield.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, it is now time for our first match up!" William announced, causing the crowd to cheer. "First up, from the town of Cullera in the Torrent region, we have Steven Trace!"

From the other side of the field, a man in his early forties walked out towards the field. He had long unkept dark green hair and a beard. He was wearing sunglasses, a leather jacket, with a black tee shirt underneath with a flaming skull on it, torn blue jeans, and black boots.

"And his opponent, from Pallet Town in the Kanto region, we have Ash Ketchum!" William announced.

Ash walked out with Pikachu on his shoulder as they both waved. Several girls were heard squealing "so cute!" Ash blushed a little bit at first, until they finished, "we love you Pikachu!"

"This will be a one on one match of only fire type Pokemon. There will be no time limit, and the match will be decided when either trainers Pokémon is unable to battle." Stated the referee. "Trainers, send out your Pokémon."

"Growlithe, I choose you!" "Houndoom, time to battle!" Both trainers yelled as they threw their Pokéballs.

Both dog like Pokémon emerged on the field giving a battle cry. As Houndoom lifted its head, it revealed its mega stone collar.

"Both trainers ready?"

Ash and Steven nodded.

"Battle begin!"

"Growlithe, play rough!"

Started charging towards Houndoom.

"Houndoom, foul play!"

Just as Growlithe was about to attack, Houndoom jumps to the side and bites down on Growlithe's back. It then jumps into the air as it spins and throws Growlithe back down to the ground. Growlithe hit the ground hard, bouncing back up into the air once, before hitting again.

"Growlithe, are you ok?" Ash asked.

Growlithe got back up on her feet and shook the dust off before nodding that she was ok.

"Houndoom crunch!"

Houndoom ran towards Growlithe with its teeth glowing orange.

"Growlithe, wild charge!"

Growlithe took off running, her body becoming surrounded by yellow electricity.

"Houndoom, forget crunch, use shadow ball!" Steven yelled upon seeing Growlithe was using wild charge.

Houndoom stops and forms a black ball of energy with purple static, then fires it. The attack hits Growlithe creating a dust cloud. Growlithe however wasn't stopped, and emerged from the dust cloud still charging at Houndoom. Growlithe hits Houndoom, creating a small dust cloud as it's sent flying back towards it's trainer.

Growlithe is taking slow deep breaths as she recovers from the recoil damage. Meanwhile, Houndoom is getting back up to its feet, as its trainer is looking at his Houndoom with his teeth clenched.

"Well, this isn't going as planned. I was hoping to save my ace for later, but there won't be a later if I don't do this now," Steven said, as he showed a key stone ring on his right middle finger, then slammed his fight fist into his left hand. He then pointed his fist forward as the keystone glowed. "Houndoom, mega evolve!" Bands of light left the two stones and connected as Houndoom mega evolved.

"This isn't good," Ash thought out loud.

Steven smirked, "Houndoom, dark pulse."

Houndoom opened its mouth as purple orb surrounded by black and purple circles formed inside it. Houndoom then fired a beam of black and purple circles at Growlithe.

"Growlithe, dodge then use iron tail on the battlefield!"

Growlithe jumped to the side as her tail glowed white. Once on the ground she jumped up again and did a flip, slamming her tail into the ground.

"Now keep using iron tail to send chunks of the battlefield at Houndoom."

Growlithe began launching chunks of the battlefield at Houndoom, who was for the moment, successfully dodging. Houndoom dodged rock after rock, until one split in half mid air. One of the half's hit Houndoom, knocking it to the ground.

"Keep it up, Growlithe."

Growlithe continued, and now they all were hitting Houndoom.

"Houndoom, torment!"

Houndoom stomped its front paws on the ground and howled loudly. Growlithe sent one more rock at Houndoom before her tail turned back to normal, as torment prevents the use of a move twice in a row.

Seeing as his idea was now done for, Ash decided to reveal his ace. Ash reached into the inside of his jacket and pulled out his groundium Z, and puts it into his Z power ring.

"Growlithe, time for tectonic rage!"

Growlithe nodded, and she and Ash began making the synchronized moves.

"Houndoom, crunch quick!"

Houndoom's teeth glowed orange as it began to charge at Growlithe.

"Too little too late. Tectonic rage!" Ash called out.

Growlithe got up on her hind legs, then slammed her front paws onto the ground. A fissure then formed underneath Houndoom as it was running and fell in. Meanwhile Growlithe quickly digs underground and rushes Houndoom with a full force tackle, sending it flying out of the fissure.

Houndoom crashes into the ground and returns to its normal form, as Growlithe climbs out of the fissure and it closes up behind her.

"Houndoom is unable to battle! Making Ash Ketchum the winner!" The referee announced.

Ash walked over to Growlithe and patted her head. "Great work out there. Now take a well deserved rest." Ash returned Growlithe to her Pokéball, then looked over at his opponent.

Steven was kneeling next to Houndoom and petting it. "Well it looks like our best wasn't good enough. Regardless, you did great. I'm proud of you," Steven said to Houndoom, who smiled up at him.

Steven then returned Houndoom to its Pokéball and looked up at Ash. Their eyes locked, and they both stood up and walked towards one another. As Steven walked, he removed his sunglasses, to reveal his gray eyes. Once face to face, Steven smiled and extended his had to Ash.

"Great match, kid."

"Thanks. You two were pretty great yourselves," Ash replied as he shook his hand.

The two then separated, and walked off the field, as the tournament continued.
