Chapter 2: The Blizzard

I sat on some random rock to get some rest. My feet are killing me right now. These princess shoes are not the comfortable thing in the world.

Honestly, I miss everyone back in Porin, but no way am I getting married to some dumb prince. I know it would make sense if I get to know the guy better, but something about him just makes me so uncomfortable.

Oh well. So...where could Ash be?

I looked around the place to see that snow has covered this area. I guess I'm near Arendelle.

I shivered in place as I continued looking at my surroundings. I didn't exactly have winter clothes on, so I'm still wearing the same dress I wore yesterday. I still couldn't find a decent changing area, though all the extra clothes I brought were all light dresses as well.

Suddenly I heard rustling from a nearby tree. Who could be here? Did my parents found out I was gone and they've sent some people to bring me home?

"Pika pika!" Something, specifically a Pikachu, called out.

"It's perfect, buddy! We could have lunch here. Good thing Brock made us food for our trip." A familiar raven-haired boy said as he and Pikachu emerged from the trees and they sat down on a wide snowy area not far from where I was.

"Hey Ash!!!" I shouted as I ran to where he is, hoping to get the warrior's attention. He turned his head to face me.

"Princess May?!?!" He said in shock as he stood up. "W-what are you doing here?"

"I'm here to help you save Arendelle, silly. You can't do it by yourself." I said, hoping he wouldn't ask any more questions.

"I'm not by myself. I've got Pikachu with me." He replied while gesturing to Pikachu.

"Pi-pikachu!"

"Yeah...I know Pikachu is really helpful and all, but having another human with you will make things easier and more fun." I said in a sing-song manner. Ash looked confused.

"No need, princess. After all, King Norman would have appointed someone else to accompany me if he thought Pikachu and I couldn't handle it ourselves." He replied, putting more pride in his tone.

"Ah. As you can see, Mr. Ketchum, King Norman, my father, appointed me to help you out. He just wanted to make sure that you will accomplish your mission." I lied...hopefully convincingly...while I slowly walked around him.

"Uh...I guess that makes sense." He answered, almost in defeat. I looked at him confusingly. I didn't know it would work. But then again, this is Ash we're talking about.

"Good." I said. "Shall we head off now?"

"Whoa, Princess May!" Ash said. "I didn't say I'll let you to travel with me. I just want you to please tell the King that Pikachu and I are perfectly capable of this mission by ourselves."

"I'm not sure, Ash."

"Yup! And to prove it, I'll challenge you to a battle!" He said confidently. My eyes widened. I knew Ash is one of the densest and immature warriors we have, but he is a skilled battler. This could be trouble.

"Uh...what's the wager?" I asked a little nervously.

"If you win, I'll let you travel with me and Pikachu. If I win, you have to go home and tell the king I'm perfectly capable of doing this mission."

Oh joy. I didn't want to push through with this, but I guess I have to try.

"I-I accept."

--

"Pikachu, I choose you!" Ash called. Pikachu stepped forward to battle.

"Torchic, take the stage!" I called,

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack!"

"Try dodging it, Torchic, and use Ember."

"Continue with Quick Attack, Pikachu!" Through the use of Quick Attack, Pikachu managed to dodge every single Ember Torchic would spit out. Not good.

"Try using Peck!" I commanded, almost feeling unsure about this battle. I didn't battle much with Torchic, so it was very difficult.

"Pikachu, go for Thunderbolt!" Pikachu jumped and released his signature move. Torchic was not able to dodge.

"Oh no! Torchic!" I said as I ran towards my Pokémon. I returned him inside his ball. "You did a good job, but I failed you. I'm so sorry."

"A deal's a deal, Princess May. I better head off then. Ooh...and tell King Norman that I'm doing well. See ya soon!"

"Pi-ka pika!"

Ash picked up his things and headed off before I could beg him again to let me travel with him. Well...we had a deal. I guess I'm not following him, but at the same time, I'm not going home.

--

I started walking my own way to Arendelle. After a while, the snowfall had turned into a blizzard.

Oh great.

I was only wearing my dress, so the cold really bothered me. I'm not Queen Elsa who is not bothered by cold.

I tried to walk further, but I couldn't feel my legs anymore. It was just too cold. I guess I'm just trapped in this frozen wasteland now. Oh well. Better than getting married to Randall.

My eyes started to close, and I barely heard anything else but the blizzard. I'm just gonna fall flat on this flurry for the rest of my life.

--

(Third Person POV)

The blizzard raged on as a young man was making his way home. He was well clothed with his hooded snow jacket. Actually, he was wearing his favorite jacket. He also wore a bonnet that would cover his green hair. He also had warm gloves on. His mouth was also covered to keep his face warm. He didn't need to do a lot of talking anyways.

He continued trekking as he came across something...unusual...in his path.

'What the heck is that?' He asked himself as he came closer to the said unusual thing.

His eyes widened as he realized what it was...or rather who it was.

'It's some girl.' He thought. He managed to turn her around, and he was enamored with what he saw. She was a simple, yet elegant girl with beautiful blue eyes. It was none other than our very own Princess Maybelle.

"W-w-w-who a-a-arrrre y-you?" May asked weakly.

The young man just shook off the enchantment he felt for the girl and carried her bridal style, hoping to find a place where she could rest. He didn't say a word to her.

May wanted him to let go of her, but she was too weak. She didn't even know who the guy is, or where he is carrying her off to. She wasn't alone though. Even the young man didn't know who she was, but he knew right away she wanted to bring her somewhere safe.

He thought of bringing her home to his house, but that would sound like kidnapping. If not kidnapping, he'd expect his family to tease him about her and immediately make wedding plans.

"W-w-where a-are you t-t-taking m-me?" May asked, shaking the young man of his thoughts. He shrugged without saying a word. He didn't know where exactly to take the girl.

He continued walking while carrying May. His eyes narrowed as he saw a light that was probably coming from a place familiar to him.

'Wandering Oaken's Trading Post...and Sauna'

He entered the place and saw the jolly Oaken welcome him.

"Hoo hoo!" Oaken greeted. "Big summer blow out. Half off swimming suits, clogs, and a sun balm of my own invention, yah?"

The young man ignored Oaken as he spotted a fireplace and a couch. He gently dropped May on the couch. He noticed that she was sound asleep, and he smiled...though no one could see it because it was hidden behind his mask.

Oaken looked at his direction as the young man faced him. He took off his mask to reveal more of his face.

"Oy! Mister Hayden! It's you...say who's the lady?" Oaken, who apparently knows the young man, raised his eyebrows teasingly while asking. The young man, identified to be as 'Mister Hayden', rolled his eyes as he approached the counter.

"I just met her, okay? I saw her alone in the middle of the blizzard." Mister Hayden said. "Anyway, do you have winter clothes for the girl? I don't even know why she decided to wear a dress on a snowy day."

"That would be in the winter department." Oaken replied, gesturing to the said winter department.

Mister Hayden looked at the winter department and saw that there was only one outfit, and it wasn't really for women. He shrugged, knowing that it was just for the girl's warmth and comfort.

He sighed. "How much?"

"It would be-a 70 dollars." Oaken answered.

"What?! Come on, 20 dollars!"

"Ok...60 dollars. No more discount."

"Ugh...I don't have time for this." Mister Hayden said. He glanced at the wall clock and noticed that it was getting late. He had to go back home. He noticed that the blizzard had subsided...or well now it was heavy snowfall, but much kinder than the blizzard from earlier.

He approached the sleeping girl, who was still slightly shivering. He took off his jacket- his favorite jacket- and wrapped it around her. He sighed, but at least it was worth it. A faint smile appeared on his face.

'I hope to see you again soon. Besides, you have my favorite jacket.' He said in his thoughts. He then brought out a red rose and left it beside her. He fixed himself up and left the store.

--

The next morning...

May slowly opened her eyes and saw the red rose that was beside her. She also realized that she was wrapped by a green jacket.

'Is this from the guy from yesterday? Where is he now?' May asked herself. She looked around to see that she was in Wandering Oaken's Trading Post...and Sauna.

"Ah! Good morning lassie!" Oaken greeted.

"Good morning to you too." May greeted back, holding on to the rose she had received. She also wore the jacket to provide her with more warmth.

"How are you doing, yah?"

"Fine...at least better than yesterday. Um...were you the one who brought me here last night?"

"Nah. He left already. He did leave his jacket with you, and also that beautiful thing you got there." Oaken said, pointing at the red rose.

"Oh. This came from him? If he comes by again, tell him I said thank you."

"Will do."

"I'll be going now. Thank you so much." May curtsied and faced the door. As she was leaving, the door suddenly opened. Her eyes widened.

The door revealed an orange-haired girl who had a side ponytail.

"Princess May! I've looked everywhere for you!" The orange-haired girl said as she hugged May.

"Hi, Misty. Let me guess, you're here to bring me home." May said worriedly.

"Yup. Come on, May!" Misty said, pulling May out of the store.

"Misty...I don't want to!" May said, releasing Misty's grip.

"But May, the king and queen are worried about you."

"Please, Misty. If you could just listen to me."

"Ok...spill."

--

Ending it there. Getting too long for this supposed short story. Plus I'm sleepy. So yeah...I guess you all figured out who Mister Hayden is, right? Well, if you didn't, you're lost.
