Chapter 6: The Diner

Yo! This chapter won't be as planned as the others because this is not part of my original story plan. I just feel like putting some more fillers before the gang gets to the Village of Dragons so that things won't escalate quickly.

Oh...while I was reading some previous parts of the book, I saw that I made a mistake in May's Pokémon. In Chapter 1, I said that she had a Venusaur, but in Chapter 2, I said that she has a Torchic. That kinda doesn't make sense since in the anime, Blaziken evolved in the second to the last episode of the Advanced Series. Bulbasaur wasn't revealed to be a Venusaur until May's Wallace Cup return. Eh. This thing is AU anyway, so never mind the inconsistencies.

Anyway...hope you guys enjoy this chapter.

The next morning

Milani, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf and Pikachu have gotten up early so that they could already start looking for the others and also find a way back up to the mountain.

"Okay...we need to round up the others before we can make our way up." Kristoff said.

"But what if they never fell down?" Milani asked.

"Hmm...I think we should divide our group then. Pikachu, Sven and I will try looking for the others. I'm sure Pikachu would be able to pick up Ash's scent if we're close by. You and Olaf try to get up the mountain. We'll come back to this area as soon as we find the others. You guys then have to pull us up. Got any Pokémon that can do the job, Milani?" Kristoff suggested.

"Hmm...I got some Pokémon that could do the job, but they're back in Resin Town. If you guys manage to find Drew, though, he could lift you with his Flygon." Milani answered.

"That is...if we find him. You know what? You and Olaf figure out what to do. We'll search for the others." Kristoff said and the others nodded.

"See ya Sven, Kristoff and Pikachu!" Olaf said as he waved to the others. He then faced Milani. "Ok, Melanie, let's get back up to the mountain!"

"Hmm...I got an idea. Lemme borrow your arms." Milani said as she pulled out Olaf's arms from his body.

"Hey!" Olaf yelled.

Milani stabbed the snowy slope with Olaf's arms, so that she could climb.

"Melanie! HEY! HEY! You're gonna break my arms!!!" Olaf shouted.

"Shut up, Olaf. We don't have many options right now." Milani said a bit annoyed.

"But Milani!" Olaf whined. Milani immediately pulled the arms off the slope and returned them to Olaf.

"It wasn't getting me anywhere anyway. Besides, you said the magic word." Milani smirked.

"Uh...but?"

"Nope. Milani. You actually pronounced my name right."

Olaf looked confused, but Milani was chuckling. He didn't get what she meant.

She and the snowman decided to sit down for a while and weighed in the options before doing anything reckless.

But then Milani stomach growls.

"Man...I'm hungry again" She said. Olaf, remembering the events from last night, covered his face with arms.

"Don't eat my nose!" Olaf said scared.

"Don't worry. I'm not Sven. Look...I'll try looking for berries. You stay here."

--

Drew opened his eyes and looked over at May. She was still sound asleep. He liked the view, so he didn't bother waking her up rudely. He then remembered how furious she was when he woke her up with his horn. He chuckled as he remembered her reactions. He found it really amusing, but he wasn't really planning on doing that this time.

But he still needed her to wake up so that they can get going and find the others.

"Hey May. Wake up." Drew said softly as he shook the sleeping girl.

"Five more minutes..." May mumbled as she turned, unconsciously resting her head and hand on Drew's chest. The green-haired boy blushed at her movement. He didn't want her to see it though.

'Fine,' Drew thought.

Surprisingly for him, May looked comfortable at their position. Of course...she was unaware of it.

Drew sighed. He knows that have to get going so that they could get to the Village of Dragons. However, he remembered that after that, he wasn't sure if May and the others would let Milani and him travel with them all the way back to Arendelle and then Porin.

So...he let this slide.

"Fine...sleep as long as you want for as long as the snow monster or worst, the others, would see us." Drew whispered.

May seemed to have heard him and she opened her eyes. She looked at the boy beside her and realized the position they were in. She blushed and moved back while hiding her face.

"Glad you're awake, May." Drew said while feeling the awkwardness in the air.

"I'm sorry, Drew." May mumbled while her face was still buried with her hands.

Drew gently removed May's hands on her face. She looked at him and he gave her a small smile.

"Come on, we better get going." Drew said as he walked with May following.

The two were pretty quiet, mainly because May kept her distance from Drew. She was still too embarrassed for what she did. It surprises her, though, that Drew never commented on what happened.

Drew stopped walking to check on May, who was a few meters away. May paused as soon as she saw him stop. He beckoned her to come closer. She got the message and ran towards him. They then started walking again, this time, side-by-side.

"What's up with you keeping your distance?" Drew asked. "I'm not going to eat you or anything."

"Well...um..." May said while trying to stop herself from looking at Drew. "I was afraid you were going to torment me because of what happened...that's all." Drew smirked.

"You worry too much. Look, I'm trying to be nice here. I don't want you getting mad and storming off while we're apart from the others." Drew said. May looked at him in surprise. She didn't know he was concerned.

"Um...thanks. Wait...you're not gonna tell the others then, right?" May said in a worried tone.

"No way. Milani will torment ME if I tell them. That will just be between us, so don't get so caught up by it." Drew said in an affirming tone.

"I guess you're right. So...where are we going anyway? Aren't we supposed to try to look for the others?" May asked.

"We were, but you're reliving what happened a while ago over and over. I know you enjoyed yourself, okay?" Drew smirked. May slapped him in the arm.

"You said you were going to be nice." May said.

"Fine. I was just messing with you. Ok...to tell you where we are going, we are going to a diner to get something to eat." Drew said.

"But...is there a diner in the middle of nowhere?" May asked.

"We're not exactly nowhere anymore." Drew answered as he pointed to a huge tree. "See that tree over there?"

"Yeah...it's a huge tree. What about it?"

"I've passed by here before with Grampa and Milani. We were lost when we saw this tree. And then we saw an eatery for travelers."

"Well...that's perfect then! Let's go there! I'm so hungry!"

--

Kristoff, Sven and Pikachu were looking around for the others. They didn't want to get to far from the area as Milani and Olaf might not be able to find them.

Pikachu was sniffing the ground in hope of sensing Ash's scent.

"Pika! Pika pikapi." Pikachu alerted the two.

"You managed to sense where Ash is?" Kristoff asked. Pikachu nodded. "Let's go then."

The three moved quickly until they have arrived in front of a cave. They peeped inside and saw the two warriors, Ash and Misty. Kristoff and Sven chuckled.

"Those two look comfortable together." Kristoff whispered.

Ash and Misty were still asleep. Their backs were against the wall and they were beside each other.

The three went inside. Kristoff noticed the pot of stew just standing around.

"These guys made stew enough to feed a town." Kristoff whispered while stirring the stew. Sven noticed that his bag of carrots was open. He panicked and Kristoff gestured to the pot. Apparently, a carrot or two was used in the stew.

Kristoff tasted the stew. He made a sour face and spat out the stew.

"They wasted all our ingredients to make this?!" Kristoff yelled.

Upon hearing the yell, Ash and Misty slowly opened their eyes.

"Pikapi! Pikachupi!" Pikachu cheered as he ran towards the two.

"Pikachu! You found us! I was so worried about you, buddy." Ash said while hugging Pikachu.

"Yay. Happy reunion." Kristoff said sarcastically. Ash and Misty then faced him.

"Hey Kristoff and Sven! Where are Milani, Olaf, Drew and May?" Misty asked.

"Before I answer that, mind explaining this?" Kristoff said gesturing to the stew.

"Uh...I tried to make some food for me and Ash. I kinda messed up, though." Misty said.

"Whoa. Misty just admitted she messed up!" Ash said.

"Shut up, Ash. Let's see you try to cook a meal!" Misty retorted.

"I bet I can make better food than you would."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah!"

"Sheesh! How did the two of you manage to keep up with each other?" Kristoff said as he separated the two.

"We didn't fight at all." Misty said.

"We promised to stop the fighting until we find you guys!" Ash said.

"Well...we haven't found everyone, now haven't we?" Kristoff said.

"Right." Ash and Misty said together.

"So...where are they then?" Misty asked.

"Milani and Olaf are finding a way to get back up the mountain. We'll be going to where we had camp and they'll lift us up. However, we don't have an idea where Drew and May are." Kristoff answered.

"I hope May is okay." Misty worried.

"She'll be fine, Misty." Ash comforted. Misty gave a smile and nodded.

"Wow...they're making nice." Kristoff said. He helped the two pack up and they headed out of the cave.

--

Milani was able to round up some Oran berries. By some...just two.

"Sorry. This is all that I can find." Milani said as she handed one berry to Olaf.

"It's okay. So...got any ideas, Melanie?" Olaf asked. Milani sighed. So much for pronouncing her name correctly.

Milani ate her berry in one bite. As she swallowed her berry, an idea came to mind.

"Blaziken, Altaria, it's time to shine!" Milani said as she brought out the two Pokémon. Olaf was awed at the sight of the Pokémon, particularly Altaria.

"Ooh! She's so cottony! So soft and cuddly!" Olaf cooed as he hugged Altaria. Altaria wasn't too comfortable about this. She is a dragon/flying type after all, so she wasn't comfortable around ice.

"Back off, Olaf." Milani said as she pulled Olaf away from Altaria. "Altaria doesn't like that."

"But...she's so soft and cottony. Ooh! Can we can call her Pannacotta?" Olaf begged.

"Uh...why Pannacotta?" Milani asked.

"I don't know, maybe because it fits her!" Olaf said cheerfully as he came closer to Altaria. Milani rolled her eyes.

"Call her whatever you want." Milani said to Olaf. She then looked at her Altaria. "Altaria, you'll have to keep up with Olaf for a while." She then beckoned at her Blaziken.

"So...what's the plan?" Olaf asked.

"So...since Blaziken is physically strong, he can carry me while leaping up the mountain." Milani said. Blaziken nodded.

"But...won't Blaziken get tired for carrying you?" Olaf asked. Milani glared at him since she thought he was implying that she was fat.

"If you look closely, there are some spots where Blaziken can rest. Plus, just last month, Blaziken managed to carry my grampa when he injured his foot."

"Ok then...how about me?"

"Altaria will have to fly you up, but you have to behave."

"Alright! Let's go Pannacotta!" Olaf said as he rode on Altaria and flew. Blaziken carried Milani and leapt up the mountain.

--

May and Drew noticed that the area they were in was not affected by the winter anymore. It was hot again. They took off their jackets and put them inside their bags.

"Whoa! There it is!" May cheerfully said as they approached the Atria Bakery, Café and Diner. They entered and saw that there were other customers as well. They managed to find a vacant two-person table and sat there.

A young man around their age approached them and handed them their menus.

"Welcome to the Atria Bakery, Café and Diner. My name is Irwin and I will be serving you today." The waiter- Irwin- said.

Drew didn't bother scanning through the menu as he knew what he was going to order. May was having a hard time choosing.

"I'll have some oatmeal and yogurt." Drew told Irwin.

"Would like drinks with that, sir?" Irwin asked.

"Service water will be fine." Drew answered.

"And for the lady?" Irwin asked gesturing to May.

"Um...it's so hard to choose. You guys have everything here." May said while scanning through the menu. She then saw the noodles section and her eyes were filled with excitement. Drew looked at her and slightly smiled at her excitement.

"I'll have some ramen please!" May said cheerfully.

"Ok...and for drinks?" Irwin asked.

"Um..." May said as she scanned through the menu again.

"She'll have some service water too." Drew told Irwin. May closed the menu and nodded.

"Ok...let me repeat your order. Some oatmeal, yogurt and ramen...and service water." Irwin said. The two nodded. "Ok...your order will be here in 5 minutes."

Irwin left the table leaving the two.

"So...what's the deal with you and ramen?" Drew asked.

"It's my most favorite food ever!" May answered. Drew just smirked at her.

Suddenly, a purple haired man and a peach haired woman sat on the table next to them. The two recognized someone...

"Drewsy bear! I didn't know you would be here!" The purple haired man said as he approached Drew. The peach haired woman followed. Drew was embarrassed by the nickname. May was chuckling.

"Hi, Drew." The peach haired woman greeted.

"Harley. Solidad. Hello." Drew greeted a bit awkwardly. He was happy to see Solidad, but not Harley.

"Oh Drew, hun. Mind introducing us to your little girlyfriend over there." Harley teased. Drew slightly blushed.

"Um...Harley, Solidad, this is May. She's from the Porin kingdom and she's not my girlfriend. May, these are Harley and Solidad. They work in a shop that orders stuff from grampa." Drew introduced.

"Nice to meet you both." May said as she smiled at the two.

"So...how'd you two meet?" Harley interrogated as he and Solidad took a seat.

"My friends and I were supposed to order some stuff from his grampa's shop. We were then told to go to the Village of Dragons. Since we didn't know how to get there, Milani and Drew came with us." May answered.

"So...where is Milani? And the other friends?" Solidad asked.

"We were separated because some snow monster attacked us." Drew answered.

"Was it Kyurem?" Harley asked.

"I don't think so. It was like a giant snowman." Drew answered.

"Ok...oh wait...May, you're from the Porin kingdom, right?" Solidad said.

"Yeah, why?" May asked...not in an Olaf-y manner.

"I heard on the news that the princess of the Porin kingdom ran away." She answered. May's eyes widened. The last time she checked, she is the princess of the Porin kingdom.

"I didn't know about that." Drew said. "What happened?"

"I don't know. The princess was supposed to marry some guy from the Southern Isles, but she ran away. They didn't even say much information about the princess. Like, how do they expect people to find her? I mean...if they told more about the missing princess, I would go out and try to look for her. The kingdom will thank me and I will be the amazing godfather of a royal couple." Harley ranted. May pretended not to listen.

"Hmm...you know...the princess probably didn't want to marry the guy. Plus, the reason why they never said anything about her is to prevent bounty hunters from kidnapping her." Drew said.

"Makes sense." Solidad agreed. May prayed that the conversation will divert somewhere else.

"Wait...May! What do you know about the princess?" Harley asked the surprised May.

"Um...I-I don't know much. We're not allowed to disclose such information. Why do you think they never said anything about her?" May stuttered.

"OH COME ON MAY! YOU JUST WANT THE REWARD FOR YOURSELF DON'T YOU?!" Harley shouted, making everyone look at their direction.

Another young man appeared and kindly told Harley to leave the premises. Solidad apologized about Harley and left with him.

"I DON'T LIKE YOUR PESTO ANYWAY!" Harley shouted as he was kicked out.

Irwin arrived with May and Drew's order and the young man who kicked Harley out talked to him.

"Irwin, bro, remind me to ban Harley Cacturnehead from our restaurant forever." The young man said to Irwin. Irwin nodded and left. He then faced May and Drew.

"Wow. Jonny, for once, thanks." Drew said.

"You're welcome, Drew. So...it's been forever since I saw you here." Jonny said.

"Eh. I don't travel that much around this area nowadays." Drew replied.

"I don't see Milani around here anymore either."

Drew didn't know how to reply to that though.

"Oh...anyway, I hope you and your date enjoy the food." Jonny said after the silence. He then left, without giving May and Drew a chance to correct him.

--

Milani and Olaf managed to get back up the mountain. Now they were just waiting for Kristoff's signal. Milani had returned her Altaria to its ball while Blaziken was still waiting. She also brought out her Gallade to help Blaziken out.

"Milani! Olaf! Pull us up! We found Ash and Misty!" Kristoff yelled.

"Ok...Blaziken, Gallade, help them out!" Milani said. The two Pokémon glided down the cliff.

Ash, Misty, Pikachu, Kristoff and Sven waited for the two Pokémon to come down. They were glad as they saw the two Pokémon. Blaziken carried Kristoff, Gallade carried Misty, and Ash brought out his Charizard for him and Pikachu. They were about the hit off when Kristoff stopped them.

"How about Sven?" Kristoff asked.

"Put him inside his ball." Milani shouted.

"But...I left his ball at home. As in...at home." Kristoff answered. Yup...he left the ball, not in Arendelle, but with the love experts. "I know! I'll tie a rope on Sven and then we'll pull him up. Have a flying type hold on to the rope temporarily."

Milani nodded and brought out her Altaria. Altaria went down to fetch the rope while the others climbed. She flew back up and tossed the rope to Olaf.

"I got it! I got it! Oof!" Olaf said as he was slightly pulled, but Altaria stopped him from falling...again. "Thanks, Pannacotta!"

The others managed to get back up and held the rope. They pulled in unison, and they managed to bring Sven up as well.

"Finally!" They said together.

"Group hug!" Olaf said as he forced everyone into a group hug.

"Wait a sec...where are Drew and May?" Milani asked.

"We haven't found them yet." Kristoff said. "I must say, that Blaziken of yours is really strong."

"Thanks." Milani said in reply.

"Plus, your Gallade is super awesome too. It even looks different from other Gallade." Misty said. It is true though. Instead of having a green head, Milani's Gallade had a blue head.

"Yup...it's pretty special, alright." Milani said.

"Come on guys! Let's go look for them!" Ash said as they moved forward.

They continued walking until Milani has passed by a familiar tree.

"Hey guys! There's supposed to be a diner around here." Milani said.

"A diner?!" The others shouted in unison. Milani nodded. They followed her until they passed by two other people.

"The nerve of that...ugh!" A purple haired man scowled.

"Wait...Milani!!!" The woman with him said as they approached Milani.

"Harley! Solidad! Hi!" Milani greeted.

"Hey Milani! That Jonny Atria is a friend of yours right?" Harley asked angrily.

"Uh...kinda...I guess...why?" Milani asked.

"Because he kicked Harley out of the diner. He was making a huge deal about something and kept shouting. Jonny had enough, so he let him out." Solidad explained.

"Wow." Milani said.

"Oh...by the way, we saw Drew with a girl named May there as well." Solidad said. The others were filled with relief. "They should still be there. I assume you're looking for them?"

"Yup! Thanks, Sol!" Milani said as she and the others ran to the diner.

"Hey! It's not snowing here anymore." Misty said noticing the lack of snow in the area. Pretty soon, they saw the diner.

They entered the diner and saw May and Drew who have just finished their food.

"May! Drew!" Milani said as she and the other approached the two.

"Hey guys!" May greeted.

"So...did you two manage to take being with each other?" Kristoff asked. Misty then approached Drew.

"Actually yes...it was nice to get to know Drew better." May answered.

"You didn't harm May, right?" Misty asked threateningly.

"Nope." Drew answered.

"Good." Ash said.

Meanwhile, Milani heard footsteps and she turned around to see a familiar figure.

"I suppose you're here to kick us out for being loud, Mister Atria?" Milani said...rather sassily.

"No, Milani. I'm just here to greet you. It's been a while since you last visited." Jonny answered calmly. "And you got to relax a bit. You're all angry again. You gotta smile a lot more." Milani then flashed him a kinda fake smile.

"Thanks, Jonny." Milani said.

"Uh...guys...a little help here." Olaf said as he was melting, breaking the tension...that was mostly on Milani's side.

"The flurry, Olaf." Kristoff said.

"I'll help him." Milani said as she approached the melting snowman. She grabbed his arm and twirled it around the body, and Olaf was once again complete.

"Thanks, Melanie! You're just as sweet as Pannacotta!" Olaf said as he hugged Milani.

"Anyway, how about I get you guys a table? You must be very hungry." Jonny said as he led them to a table not too far from May and Drew.

The others happily ate. Milani ordered pancakes, Kristoff ordered carrot cake for Sven and stewed beef for himself, Ash ordered a cheeseburger, Misty ordered pesto (Misty liked it, even though Harley didn't), and Olaf ordered a Pannacotta.

May decided to try some yogurt, while Drew just watched her eat. She didn't really get why Drew liked it so much, but whatever.

Jonny and Irwin were looking at them, particularly Olaf.

"Um...Irwin, is that a snowman? Isn't it the middle of summer?" Jonny asked.

"I know right. Weird." Irwin replied.

They finished their meals, waved goodbye to the diner, and went travelled once again to the Village of Dragons.

--

This is probably the longest chapter I've ever written, even with the long author's notes. I would have divided it into two parts, but I don't know where to do the division. Okay...trivia time.

If you guys are wondering what's Milani's deal with Jonny, don't ask. It's not part of the story. He's not gonna show up in this story again. If you want more of Jonny though, read the Pokémon World books. Irwin is one of Jonny's cronies. Oh...Atria Bakery, Café and Diner was also a setting in the "The Heat Badge" chapter of the Pokémon World: Adventures through Hoenn book...except it was just a Bakery and Café.

I actually did parts of this chapter while playing Tomodachi Life. There, Drew's Mii counterpart's all-time favorite foods are oatmeal and yogurt. Oh...and while playing, Harley was hungry, so I fed him pasta pesto, and it ended up being his worst. Lol. Talking bout timing.

And why is his last name Cacturnehead? I don't know what other fanfiction writers use, so I used the one I invented for my Tomodachi Life.

Oh...and my Altaria's nickname in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire is really Pannacotta. I don't know why.

Hope you liked it.
