"Mooommm!" A voice yelled, bursting into the Champion's Chambers.

Lyra, startled, pulled really hard on the brush in her hand. Her partner yelped and spit out a column of fire at the tugging of his fur. Lyra apologized to her Typhlosion and turned her head to the person who yelled.

"Amber!" Lyra gasped, "What the hell?"

Amber pointed at her mother, "You swore!"

Lyra frowned and sighed, "What do you want?"

"Well...seeing as it is my thirteenth birthday-"

"-Your birthday was last week..."

Amber ignored her mother's interruption, "I was hoping...You'd tell me about Dad."

Lyra flinched. The Pokémon in the room suddenly stopped whatever they were doing and turned towards their trainer.

Lyra stood up from her champion's throne and walked over to her daughter, "Sweetie...I told you- I don't know where he is."

Amber crossed her arms, "I-I know! I just...wanna hear about him..."

Lyra sighed. Her daughter looked up at her with large, pleading, silver eyes.

Lyra put her hands on her hips, "Truthfully? I hardly knew your father. We knew each other when I first started my journey, and we reconnected about ten years later."

"Is there anything else you can tell him about me?" Amber whispered.

Of course there was! Not necessarily things she could tell her thirteen year old daughter...

Lyra bit her lip.

"Did he not love me?" Amber asked, her voice wavering, "Is that why he left?"

Lyra put a hand on Amber's shoulder, "Oh no, of course not! He left before I even knew I was pregnant...and I couldn't reach out to him because I didn't know where he was."

Amber frowned, "Okay...thanks anyway..."

Amber walked back out the way she came, disappointed.

Lyra bit her lip. Her Pokémon came up to her and gave her judgmental looks.

Lyra groaned, "I'm gonna regret this..."

Lyra sat at the cold metal table with folded hands. She tapped her foot nervously.

"What do you want, you Seviper?"

Lyra turned to see a woman with red hair and red eyes standing in front of her. The woman's wrists were cuffed, and there was an officer next to her.

Lyra stood up and offered the woman her seat, "I-I just wanna talk."

The redhead seemed to decide that Lyra was worth her time and sat down. Lyra sat across from the woman as the officer stepped away.

"So," The woman said, "What is it?"

Lyra opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She closed her mouth and cleared her throat, "I want to know if you know where Silver is."

The woman across from Lyra laughed, "Seriously? You want me to tell you where my son is? After you broke his heart and sent his mother to jail?"

"Ariana-"

"-No no, why wouldn't you have the right? You only tricked him into getting caught! You may have helped him escape, but that doesn't mean I give a fuck about-"

"-I have a daughter," Lyra said, "...She's Silver's...she's been asking about him a lot lately..."

Ariana hesitated, "I'm just supposed to believe that?"

Lyra rolled her eyes and pulled out a photo of Amber. She slid it across the table for Ariana to see.

Ariana's jaw dropped, "Oh shit...Okay I believe you."

Lyra took back the picture and smiled fondly at it, "She looks just like him, doesn't she?"

"She's like a carbon copy of him..." Ariana agreed.

Lyra bit back tears.

"Why didn't you try to get in contact sooner?" Ariana hissed, "I have a granddaughter! My son missed thirteen years!"

"I tried!" Lyra exclaimed, "I visited Giovanni and you when I was first pregnant but neither of you knew where he was! I tried to trace the birthday cards he sends me, but there's never a return address because they don't come in the regular mail, apparently. I came back to see you and Giovanni a year after she was born but you still didn't know where he was!"

"He only got into contact with me recently," Ariana said, "But you kept her from me! I could have told her stories of her father-"

"I didn't want her to know that she had Team Rocket in her blood!" Lyra hissed.

"Then why are you trying to find Silver?"

"He isn't evil like his father!"

Ariana shook her head, "I can't help you, sorry."

"You can't or you won't?"

"Won't."

As Ariana tried to stand up, Lyra bit her lip, "W-Wait!" She stammered. Ariana hesitated.

"Please? She deserves to know, don't you think?"

Ariana sighed, "On one condition."

"A-Anything!"

"Bring her to see me."

~~~
"Wow so you're my grandma?" Amber asked, "We have the same hair color!"
Ariana smiled, "Yes we do! Your dad has the same hair color too!"
Amber nodded, "I know that! Can you tell me something I don't know about him?"
Ariana thought, "Well...as a child he was always waiting for the day he could get his own Pokémon. He ran away at ten to go pursue that. Your grandfather was furious! He really wanted your father to take over Team Rocket. And he did, once someone put Giovanni in prison."
Lyra rolled her eyes, "Giovanni was a bad guy!"
"Who's Giovanni?" Amber asked.
"Your grandfather." Ariana answered.
Amber looked to her mother, "Can I meet him, too?"
"No. Absolutely not."
"Lyra...she deserves to know."
Lyra sighed, "If you want to know when you're eighteen you can go see him," she told her daughter. She turned to Ariana, "But for now I think it's best she have no contact with him. He's not exactly a fan of me."
"I'm sure he'd love Amber..."
Lyra gave Ariana a death glare.
Amber leaned in to Ariana, "Don't worry- I can convince her."
"I heard that!"
Amber and Ariana chuckled. They spent the rest of the time they had with Ariana chatting about Amber's life- about her journey with her Pokémon and how she made it all the way up to the champion, but how she was no match for her mother.
Just before Ariana had to leave, Lyra asked, "Where is he?"
Ariana sighed, "Hoenn."
"Where in Hoenn?"
"I don't know..."
Lyra scowled.
"Don't make that face," Ariana said, "He can't exactly broadcast where he is, ya know."
"Then how do you know he's in Hoenn?"
"He sent me a photo once. It was this crazy looking cave. I did some digging and it turns out it was Meteor Falls."
Lyra nearly wept. All this time...he'd been in Hoenn.
"Mom?" Amber called, looking up at the brunette next to her, "Are okay?"
Lyra wiped her eyes with her palms, "I-I'm okay..."
Lyra looked up at Ariana, "I'm so sorry...I did what I could for you during the trial, ya know? They wanted to give you thirty."
Ariana nodded, "I know. But that doesn't undo what you did."
Lyra looked down at the table, "I know...but I had to choose my people. I loved him, but it had to stop."
Ariana bit back a response as the guard came to get her. Amber gave her grandmother a hug before the guard took her back to her cell.
Amber looked at her mother, "How come you never brought me to see my grandparents?"
Lyra gestured to the prison walls, "I didn't want you thinking -this- could be your future. When we were kids, people judged your father just because of your grandfather. I didn't want that for you."
Amber sighed, "I guess that makes sense..."
"Giovanni has another thirty," Lyra said, "You can visit him when you're eighteen if you want."
Amber nodded, "I think we should just focus on my dad for now."
Lyra smiled and copied her daughter's nod, "Right."
~~~

"We've looked everywhere," Lyra sighed, "He has to be here."

Amber held out her hand as ash fell from the sky, "This seems like a health hazard."

Lyra nodded, "Try not to breathe too hard."

The mother and daughter had been all over the region searching for Silver. They'd had zero luck. Lyra even visited her friend May, who used to be champion, but neither she nor her husband were able to help.

Lyra and her daughter walked into the Pokémon Center. They shook the ash from their clothes as Lyra approached Nurse Joy. She talked to her for a bit. Amber noticed she talked to her a bit longer than usual.

Lyra came back to her daughter with a mix of nervousness and excitement.

"He lives in town," Lyra said, "She isn't sure where but he's here."

Amber clapped her hands together, "Really?! This is awesome!!!"

Lyra gulped and plastered on a smile. The pair walked outside and Amber was bouncing with excitement and determination. She began asking every person she saw if they knew a man named, "Silver". Most people shook their heads and walked away as quickly as they could.

Lyra felt nervous. He could be here. He could be behind her and she wouldn't know it. He could know she's here. He could-

Lyra suddenly heard loud footsteps rushing in her direction. She turned just in time to put her hand out in front of her. A large blue Pokémon towered in front of her, focusing on her hand.

The Pokémon grinned and let its tongue drop from the side of its mouth like a puppy Pokémon.

"Feri..." Lyra gasped.

"Shit! Feraligatr!"

Lyra's face paled. She stood frozen as the Feraligatr's trainer approached them.

"I'm so sorry!" The trainer apologized, finally coming into view, "He really likes-"

Lyra's brown eyes met the silver eyes of Feraligatr's trainer's.

"People..." the trainer exhaled.

The pair kept silent eye contact. Lyra found herself drowning in those silver eyes. There was ash freckled in the trainer's long blood red hair. Their hair was tied back in a low ponytail, and red beginnings of a beard adorned his face.

Lyra snapped out of her daze as someone slammed into her.

"M-Mom! Are you okay?"

"Amber!" Lyra gasped, pulling herself out of her haze. She looked down at her daughter, "I-I'm okay..."

Amber looked up at Feraligatr's trainer and gasped. The trainer noticed Amber and his eyes widened.

Feraligatr opened his maw and put Lyra's head in his mouth. Lyra sighed and frowned.

"I missed you too, Feri!" She huffed, pulling her head from the Pokémon's jaws.

Feraligatr smiled and nudged his trainer's face with his.

"Lyra..." The trainer gasped.

Lyra felt her heart twang. She immediately started sobbing, "Silver!"

Amber and Feraligatr stepped back as Silver rushed to Lyra. He picked her up and spun her around as she wrapped her arms and legs around him.

Amber turned to Feraligatr, "I knew she still loved him..." she whispered.

Feraligatr nodded.

Silver put Lyra down and pulled away. Amber noticed they were both crying.

Silver opened his mouth to speak, but Lyra spoke first, "I-I have someone who want to meet you."

Amber strolled over and hid a bit behind her mother, "H-Hi..."

Silver looked down at the girl, as if actually seeing her for the first time. Silver kneeled down so that Amber was looking down at him.

"H-Hey...shit..." Silver whispered.

Lyra placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder, "This is Amber. She's your daughter..."

"Hi...Dad...Father!" Amber exclaimed, her nervousness drowning her excitement.

Silver chuckled and took Amber's hands, "Hi...fuck- Wait no don't say that. Uh...hey."

Amber smiled and pulled Silver into a hug. Silver's eyes widened and he hugged the girl back. After they pulled away, Silver stood up.

"Pigtails," Silver exhaled, "H-How...W-When...?"

"Well I think you know how," Lyra giggled, wiping her tears away, "And...during the sting."

Silver blushed, "O-Oh...why didn't you tell me?"

Lyra raised an eyebrow, "Your letters are untraceable and your mom and dad didn't know anything until recently! According to you mom, anyway."

Silver nodded, "Yeah...fair enough."

"Why can't I trace your letters back?"

Silver rubbed the back of his neck, "Your mailman may or may not be an ex Team Rocket member that didn't get caught in the sting..."

Lyra's jaw dropped, "What?"

Silver looked around, "Who said that?"

Lyra giggled. Silver's heart pounded. He still loved her. He thought about her every single day. He wanted to scoop her up and kiss her and kiss her and kiss her and never ever leave her again.

Amber grinned. This was going well! Maybe she'd get the chance at having a mom and a dad!

Silver kneeled back down to make eye contact with Amber, "I'm sorry I wasn't there. I know how frustrating it can be...If I had known..." Silver shook his head, "I should've considered you were a possibility. I should've given your mother the opportunity to contact me. I should've-"

Amber hugged Silver again, "It's okay. Everybody makes mistakes."

Silver smiled, hugged his daughter back, and blinked away tears.

As they pulled away, Amber grinned, "We're all together now. That's what's important!"

Lyra put her hands on her hips, "Since when were you this mature?"

Amber flipped her hair dramatically, "Mother dearest," she said, using a terrible Galarian accent, "Ye have such little faith!"

Lyra scrunched up her nose. She shook her head, deciding the argument wasn't worth it.

Silver chuckled, "You're just like your mother when she was younger."

"She is not!" Lyra protested.

Silver looked up at Lyra and smirked.

Lyra blushed and crossed her arms, "You thought I was annoying when we were younger! Don't call your daughter annoying!"

"I'm not calling her annoying!" Silver chuckled, wrapping his arms around Lyra's waist and picking her up, "You're annoying!"

"Silvey!" Lyra exclaimed, "Put me down!"

Silver was laughing uncontrollably, "No!"

Lyra put her hands on Silver's shoulders, "Silvey!"

"Say please!"

"Please!"

"Please what?"

"Please Silvey!"

"Try again!"

"Silver?"

"One more time!"

Lyra blushed, gasped, and hit Silver's chest, making him chuckle.

Feraligatr rested his head on Amber's. They both sighed in content, happy to see Lyra and Silver so happy.

Silver finally put Lyra down on her feet again. He took her hands and put them on his heart, "Stay..." he begged, "Stay here...we can be a family..."

Amber gasped, "Yeah!"

Lyra bit her lip, "We can't just uproot our lives..."

"Dad can come live with us!"

Lyra shook her head, "If he comes back he'll be arrested..."

Silver pressed his forehead to Lyra's, "Stay...Live here with me...forever..."
