☺︎︎ Chapter Sixty-One

"What's it like in the vampire world?" Jeno asks, swinging their intertwined hands between them as they walked.

Jaemin shrugs his shoulders, "dark, scary, dangerous even." He makes sure to emphasize the last word very clearly and loudly.

Noticing what the older boy was trying to do, he rolls his eyes and nudges him, "still trying to convince me?" He asked in a bored tone.

"You caught me."

"Sure did." Sighing softly, "listen, I already asked the others for some advice and warnings, they said your parents aren't bad. They just look like it but they're pretty nice."

Snorting, Jaemin shakes his head. "That's not what I'm worried about." He licks his dry lips, "it's also some of the people there."

Pouting, Jeno leans closer to his side while they turn to a corner, "it's alright, I know I have you to protect me." He smiles innocently.

Jaemin glances at him and sees the look he has on his face, "pure persuasion." He thinks to himself.

Looking back to the front, he only replies with a short hum and continues to lead his pure human boyfriend to a secluded place.

They soon arrive in an old shack, somewhere near his abandoned apartment building and is surrounded with trees and such.

"This is where we usually do our portals." He shortly introduces the old shack with a lazy hand gesture.

"Why not in your abandoned apartment?" Jeno asks with a tilt of his head to the side.

His vampire boyfriend purses his lips, "this area has a spell surrounding it, no human will have the thought to mess with it." He answers.

"But... Wouldn't they think the same thing about the apartment building?" Jeno couldn't help but wonder, getting confused.

"The apartment building doesn't have a spell around it. It's simply just there for humans to either renew it or keep it as a memorial." Jaemin starts off his explanation.

"They'll share the story of that building. Telling their kids, grandkids, friends, anyone. About what happened back then." He sighs.

Jeno's eyes widen a bit, "like in those books and movies about scary abandoned building?" He gasps.

The older boy chuckles, nodding off as he wraps an arm around Jeno's waist. "Yes, pup, like the ones you've seen." He said.

"But I don't find the story and the building scary." The younger boy suddenly says, "I find it very sad."

Raising a brow, Jaemin asks, "and why so?"

"Because it's where my soulmate used to live peacefully, no harm in his intentions in this world." Jeno answers.

His vampire boyfriend slowly smiles, "it's okay, I understand not all humans are like you. Unfortunately." He comments with a small wink.

Finishing it off with a laugh, Jaemin opens the door to the shack and lets Jeno enter first. Soon, he closes the door behind them and grabs his human boyfriend by the shoulders.

He turns him so they could face each other properly, "before I do this and we enter, I need you to listen and promise me."

"Don't ever separate from me, even if you saw something interesting, someone approaching you whether they're mean or nice, if you need to use the bathroom. Just stay with me."

"Don't fall too easily, lots of vampires these days are mischievous especially without a ruler. They'll use tricks and spells against you."

"Whatever you do, always tell me what you've seen, touched or anything that comes to your mind. I want to make sure you're not doubting yourself for something actually true and you're okay."

"Don't eat anything someone hands you, even if they're nice. It could be poisoned, especially since you're a human."

"Don– mmph." Jaemin gets interrupted by a pair of lips smashing against his own.

He shuts his eyes, almost melting into the touch until the person pulls away first. He opens his eyes and meets Jeno's grinning face.

"I get it, I understand what you're saying. I should always be with you and not trust anything else in the vampire world."

He then cups Jaemin's face gently, "you're just being protective, and I understand that." He plants a small kiss on the older boy's nose.

Sighing deeply, the vampire prince tightens his arms around Jeno's waist, "I'm just really worried about you going there."

Pausing, he shuts his eyes and bites the inside of his cheek, "but let's get this over with."

Snorting, Jeno kisses his forehead, near his furrowed eyebrows. "Come on, your parents must be waiting long."

"Wait," his vampire boyfriend said and reaches in his back pocket of his jeans to grab something.

He takes it out and reveals a glowing necklace.

"You need to wear this," Jaemin announces, already getting the glowing necklace locked around Jeno's bare neck.

Once it's locked, the human boy gently takes the pendant between his fingers and eyes it carefully in awe.

He then furrows his eyebrows when he notices the liquid in the tiny glass bottle. "Who's blood is that?" He blurts out.

What if it's not even blood? It's just some glowing liquid or something. But considering his boyfriend is literally a purebred vampire, he's not doubting anything.

"Mine." Jaemin easily answers, "I visited an old witch friend and asked her to make this for you."

"For me?" Jeno's cheeks starts to heat up once he hears that.

Nodding, Jaemin gently brushes the hair falling onto Jeno's forehead. "It's very special, it'll help protect you and will let me know when you're in danger."

"How?" Jeno glances at the pendant in his fingers.

"It's like a bond thing, since it's my blood, I'm the one who'll know. If you're, for example, getting approached by a vampire, I'll feel something."

"So a gut feeling?"

"In a way, yeah."

"But what if someone else got the necklace?" Jeno frowns in worry.

Jaemin caresses his cheek and shakes his head, "it won't work. It'll only work for my soulmate, which is only you."

Blushing, Jeno nods shyly and takes his hand. "But what if they'll come to attack me because they smell my blood?" He wonders.

The vampire prince hums, "that's also what the necklace is for, it'll hide your scent." He reassures.

Nodding, the human boy squeezes his hand and kisses his cheek, "alright."

"Are you ready?" Jaemin asks in a breathless whisper.

"Yep."

"My dear soulmate, I'm sweating–"

"Pup, I can't believe we're actually doing this."
