☺︎︎ Chapter Sixty-Seven

I'll try my best not to make this boring (this book already went downhill anyway lol what am I saying).

"How long has it been?" Jeno asks for the sixth time in a span of twenty minutes tops.

He's walking around Mark's bedroom, his friends calmly watching him as Haechan was playing some type of mobile game on his respective phone.

Yangyang sighs and answers, "Jen, relax, it's a battle."

He understands why the human boy is low-key freaking out, but it's kinda getting annoying now to receive the same questions after a few minutes.

"I can't!" Jeno exclaims, stopping midway towards Mark's bookshelves. Eyes frantic and he's gripping on his forearms tightly.

"What if he gets really hurt? Like– critically? Is it even worth it anymore? I can't have that! If it happens, it's going to be my fault! Oh m–"

"Jeno!" Mark cuts him off mid rambling, grabbing him by the shoulders and shakes him as if to get his senses back together.

When the younger boy shuts up, Mark exhales and says, "we understand what's going through your mind, you're worried, and that's okay."

"But let's stop thinking of the negatives, yeah? Let's just think of the good possibilities, like..." He pauses, forming a thinking face and smiling when he hears a chuckle from the younger boy.

"Like, Jaemin will obviously become king, the vampires will have peace, hmm some character developments?" He says about, emphasizing his point.

"Better blood banks and resources!" Hendery chimes, smiling awkwardly when he receives different reactions from the others.

Jeno and Haechan raising a brow at him, Yangyang rolling his eyes as usual from Hendery's antics while Mark snickers.

"Carry on," he gestures at them.

"Anyways, as I was saying, let's not think about Jaemin getting really hurt right now. Think about him easily beating some poor and nasty ass vampires in that battlefield."

"High possibility honestly, if Jaemin's in his focus, he'd probably do that. He's a purebred vampire, proper training, quick senses and royal blood flowing through him." Yangyang comments with a grin.

Hendery nods along and calmly says this time, "I've trained with Jaemin before, and I swear, I thought I was out for good."

"Hendery's not wrong, I've trained with them too and Jaemin's pretty good, quick and strong, it's almost like this whole thing is nothing to him." Yangyang said.

"You wanna know what else could happen if Jaemin wins?" Haechan speaks up with a hint of teasing in his tone.

He's still focused on his game, but nonetheless, he's listening to them too. Multitasking, Hendery guesses.

Once gaining their attention, he doesn't fully raise his head up to send Jeno a teasing smirk as he says, "he'd probably make Jeno his queen or something."

After he says that, Jeno's cheeks are crimson red as the dark and very visible color spreads throughout his ears and down to his neck.

They all laugh in amusement as Jeno was too shy to even look at them anymore.

"Whatever, you're talking nonsense again, Haechannie." He grumbles as Mark heard it crystal clear.

The raven haired boy giggles and brings Jeno into his arms, hugging his best friend close and sways them side to side, along with the wind.

"I'm just saying, Jen," the tanned male sneers lightly, already knowing what Jeno was grumbling about back there.

Suddenly, the door bursts open as Lucas and Bongsik comes back inside to the safety of Mark's bedroom.

Lucas was holding a grocery bag, filled with the snacks they've all talked about earlier to eat while they wait for Jaemin's news.

Panting, the alpha werewolf tries to regain his composure and straightens up. "Holy shit, it's a good thing we're safe in here."

"Why? What's happening out there?" Mark asks while still hugging Jeno and takes the grocery bag out of Lucas' loose grip.

"It's like an apocalypse out there," the alpha werewolf gasps.

"A lot of immortals are roaming around almost too obvious about their identities after the vampires that are here spread the news about what's happening." Lucas explains.

"There's more vampires in the woods though," Bongsik spoke up as she leisurely heads towards the bed where Haechan and Yangyang were.

"They're surrounding the few old shacks around, just to see what's going on back there."

Curling herself up and getting comfortable on Mark's now messy bed, she lets out a small yawn. "Not to worry though, they're just betting on who's winning."

"Jeez," Jeno mumbles and asks, "is this normal?"

"There's nothing 'normal' to us immortals, Jen," Hendery deadpans before he bursts out laughing like a maniac.

Clicking his tongue, Yangyang shakes his head at him and reassures the human boy himself with his own answer.

"Nothing to be worried about, yes it's normal for us immortals to act like this. Even if it's not your own kind."

"Almost like supporting each other and hoping the other creatures get a decent ruler, " Lucas also says.

"But others are just nosy, so we don't bother to even come along unless we have to." Bongsik mumbles with her eyes closed.

"Think of it as a sports event or a boxing match," Yangyang tells them.

His simple example made the three human boys nod in understanding before they all soon start distracting themselves– low-key anticipating too.

"Come on, Jaemin! You can do this!" The said vampire prince's well-known and very close royal instructor tells him.

The man is standing beside Dracula's throne, watching Jaemin's every move and shouting out encouraging words for the vampire prince to hear– despite the ongoing loud crowd.

Jaemin's parents are cheering him on as well, Mina playing with her long sharp red nails as Dracula was holding his breath.

They're both anxious.

Mina flinches when she sees her son getting thrown back down the dusty ground as his final opponent was on the air, a teasing grin on his face.

"What's wrong, your highness? Getting weak already?" The egotistical vampire boy sneers, slowly flying down– showing off how he's not as weak as Jaemin is now.

The vampire prince hisses, grunting when he pushes himself up to fly towards his opponent and lands a hard punch in his guts.

Sending the boy down, Jaemin pants and regains his breath, preparing himself for whatever tricks this guy has in his sleeves.

Besides, it wouldn't be the first time. His previous opponents have tried cheating, only to get either warned or kicked out.

Two tried flying out of the battlefield but failed miserably when they bumped into a really dense transparent wall.

Dracula knew this would happen, so he didn't regret ordering his fellow loyal wizards and witches to put a spell surrounding them.

Another one had the audacity to drink some type of potion, just so he could beat Jaemin. However, they were lucky enough the guy got caught later on.

"I heard you have a human boy, sire." His opponent suddenly brings up.

Jaemin's eyes instantly harden, his whole body going stiff for a moment. It was kinda obvious, which is why Dracula, Mina and his instructor were quick to listen in.

"Who told you?" His voice is low and cold. Sending shivers down to everyone's spine as they all tune in.

"A friend, a really dumb and oblivious friend. Whom I think you know," the guy replies.

And just with that description, Jaemin knows.

Choi Soobin.

But that's a talk for another time, he's sure Soobin didn't know, like his opponent said so.

"He's a pretty one, don't you think?" The guy smirks, snapping Jaemin back to his senses. "A pretty little human, we can all toy around with."

Jaemin's completely disgusted and angry.

How dare this guy say it like that, so predatorial and creepy. Talking such things about his beloved boyfriend.

"It would be a shame if either of you lost, wouldn't it?" His opponent exaggerates a fake pout. "You'd be really sad to lose such a cute little soulmate."

"What did you do to him?" Jaemin scowls.

And before he fell into the guy's trap, he hears his father and instructor yell at him.

"Jaemin don't listen to him! He's psyching you out!"

"Your soulmate is safe and well, son! He's with your friends! Don't let this guy get to you!" Dracula manages not to expose Jeno's name.

Blinking, Jaemin takes a deep breath as he hears the last few words his opponent tries to say, "your human boy is a bitch."

And just like that, a horn erupts.

The crowd cheers, everyone standing up from their seats as Jaemin stares at his knocked out opponent after he fell from the sky– he threw him up.

"My dear soulmate, please be okay. I'm cheering for you."

"Pup, I did it. For you."
