Chiyoko Hayashi (林千代子 Hayashi Chiyoko) is the main female protagonist of the Jujutsu Kaisen: Purgatory series.

She is the adopted youngest daughter of Akio and Ogata Kikuchi, the younger sister of Suzume Kikuchi, and the goddaughter of Kento Nanami. They are also a grade 1 jujutsu sorceress and the infamous assassin known as the Blossom Princess, taking independent jobs and missions. Chiyoko is also one of the few surviving descendants of the Hayashi Family, a Sorcerer Family that most of the members were mysteriously slaughtered in the middle of the night.

She lived a relatively peaceful life until she encountered Megumi Fushigoro who witnessed her wearing one of Benzaiten's rings and putting on another one, signaling that she has been the vessel of Benzatien for an unknown period of time. After being discovered as Benzatien's vessel, Chiyoko began attending as a first-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High alongside Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Ren, and Ichika.

Chiyoko is known to be a kind-hearted girl with a pleasant temperament who treats others with politeness and courtesy. She also tends to be a perfectionist with an earnest personality. Countless people in her town always talk about her with sincere admiration.

Despite her earnest and kind nature, Chiyoko does have a limit to her tolerance and isn't afraid to hit her best friend on the head when he does something stupid once she finds out about it. This is mainly because, between her and Itadori, she was the more responsible one and tends to be brash with him should he do something stupid. This leads Itadori to see her as an older sister more than he should.

They don't think very highly of the higher-ups, hating the traditions that they tried to shove jujutsu sorcerers' throats and how they treat her and Itadori for being cursed vessels and still alive, wanting them to be dead. Chiyoko views them as a bunch of uptight traditionalists who can't accept change.

Whenever she's in a battle, Chiyoko always has an easygoing smile on her face, which more than often confuses her opponents and underestimates her abilities. In reality, they actually enjoy teasing others, to the point of being rather sadistic about it. She also carries herself confidently as a jujutsu sorcerer and she did when she was an assassin.

꒰🌸꒱ SYNPOSIS ♡꙼̈ ࿐ ࿔

Chiyoko was born in the Hayashi clan, a Jujutsu clan that was considered to be Jujutsu sorcerers who double as assassins. Due to the clan being on equal grounds with the Big Three Sorcerer Families, the Hayashi clan was feared by many and respected by many and there were rumors of them being cursed users.

One day when she was still an infant, Chiyoko's family was mysteriously slaughtered in the dead of night, thankfully Chiyoko's parents hid her away from and she became the sole survivor of the Hayashi clan. A family friend who goes by Suzume founded Chiyoko and decided to raise her with her family, the Kikuchi family.

Five years later, Chiyoko met Itadori Yuuji as they attended the same preschool and the two of them quickly became best friends ever since. Over the years, the two of them participated in various sports throughout their middle school years. Of course, they had their fair share of bullies and to that, Chiyoko had no problem fighting back. The only problem is the parents of the bullies who tried to justify their children's bullying by saying that Chiyoko makes their children feel "inferior" in comparison.

Chiyoko was around 13 when she first started her jujutsu sorcerer work in secret. She really only did assassinations for members of organizations like the Time Vessel Association. On one mission, after killing her target in their home, Chiyoko decided to look around and took an interest in a piece of a hand chain ring bracelet. The second she put it on, she became the vessel of the Cursed Goddess herself, Uga Benzaiten.

The two somehow got along and they managed to work together to find Uga's 19 remaining cursed objects so Uga can be resurrected and she could find Sukuna's fingers on her own.

She continued on with the assassinations for the next two years, all with Ogta and Akio supporting her decision. She did this so that she could protect and Itadori & other non-sorcerers from cursed spirits/curse users/non-curse users that get to close to civilians.

When she entered junior high, Chiyoko decided to join the Cooking and Kyudo Clubs.

꒰🌸꒱ ABILITIES AND POWERS ♡꙼̈ ࿐ ࿔

♡ OVERVIEW ♡

OVERALL SKILL LEVEL: Chiyoko is one of Tokyo Jujutsu High's most powerful and talented students. As a member of the Hayashi family, Chiyoko is a powerful and feared Grade 1 sorcerer, not only holding a large amount of cursed energy at such a young age but also due to her being the vessel of the goddess Uga Benzaiten and the reincarnation of her ancestor/Benzatien's child Yua. Akina Tengen herself believes that they have the potential to surpass her strength as a sorceress. Chiyoko is able to contend with and defeat Grade 1 and Special Grade curses. She is considered to have high potential by Mei Mei, Sukuna, and Benzaiten. They are able to contain Benzaiten with no ill effects.

POISON RESISTANCE: Since Chiyoko is both an assassin and the host of Benzaiten, she is immune to all kinds of poison. It started when she was younger, drinking small doses daily mixed in with her food and drinks.

MASTER WEAPON SPECIALIST: Chiyoko is capable of employing a wide variety of weapons in battle. Her entire fighting style is based on the weapons that they chose to use during fights. She has a vast arsenal thanks to one of her cursed techniques.

ANIMAL TAMING: Because of her ancestor Yua Hayashi, Chiyoko can tame mythological creatures with immense ease.

♡ PHYSICAL PROWESS ♡

MASTER HAND-TO-HAND COMBATANT: Chiyoko is an incredibly formidable opponent as she is one of the greatest young practitioners of martial arts, beating a handful of sorcerers and curses

IMMENSE STRENGTH: Chiyoko possesses a high level of physical proficiency, and when she was in middle school and after, she beat up many of the bullies and jujutsu sorcerers.

IMMENSE SPEED AND REFLEXES: Chiyoko is shown to have great speed. She's also been shown to dodge the attacks of multiple opponents. She has been shown to be fast enough to evade opponents and their attacks.

IMMENSE DURABILITY: Chiyoko has a surplus of durability that surpasses the average sorcerer. She has taken blows from various cursed spirits and sorcerers and then later won against them all. She has been able to continuously take hits from opponents stronger and more experienced than her during her assassination assignment and Chiyoko still manages to survive them.

IMMENSE STAMINA: Going along with their other superhuman capabilities, Chiyoko possesses a large amount of stamina and has often been shown to continue to fight despite grievous injuries for longer periods of time without rest. She has been able to sustain damage from her opponents and their attacks and was able to still able to go on the attacks. She is also able to resist several poisonous stab wounds from countless missions and jobs

♡ INTELLIGENCE ♡

IMMENSE TACTICAL INTELLECT: Chiyoko has proven countless times that one of her greatest strengths is her high level of tactical thinking. She is a young genius, said to be on par with Megumi. Much like Megumi, Chiyoko assesses all threats logically and deals with them strategically. Moreover, she uses the knowledge she has of the people she's close to in order to see how they may help her in battles. This is shown when she waited for Yuji to come in and help the other two members of the Occult Club from a cursed spirit before she killed it. She is also very capable of quickly spotting various weaknesses her opponents may have. Chiyoko is also capable of determining the cursed techniques their opponents may have.

Chiyoko possesses a wealth of knowledge about jujutsu complete with an expert-level understanding of it, equal to that of full-fledged sorcerers. Being an assassin from a young age, Chiyoko possesses battle experience that many of her fellow first-year students lack greatly. This is due to the constant lessons and training that she has received since she was a child.

♡ CURSED ENERGY ♡

IMMENSE CURSED ENERGY: Even prior to becoming the vessel of Benzaiten, Chiyoko possesses a very high volume of cursed energy despite not being a Special Grade sorcerer. She has also shown that they can easily control her cursed energy as well as be able to apply cursed energy to her physical attacks. Chiyoko has displayed immense reserves of cursed energy during drawn-out battles without exhausting themselves. They can summon up to three shikigami at the same time and use multiple summonings in every fight.

♡ BINDING VOWS ♡

Chiyoko has an unnamed Binding Vow with Benzaiten. The Cursed Goddess agreed to grant Chiyoko help her escape under one condition: Chiyoko would collect all of Benzaiten's cursed rings as her vessel. Once she has all of her cursed rings, her original body would be whole once again and she wouldn't be connected to Chiyoko anymore.

Chiyoko accepted but only after she added a condition herself: she is allowed access to use Benzaiten's shikigamis and one of her techniques. She mainly added this so that this Binding Vow would also benefit her.

♡ INNATE TECHNIQUES ♡

TELEKINESIS: A technique that originates from the Hayashi clan. Chiyoko can freely influence an object or person without moving. She can easily create barriers, curse energy blasts, or even enhance her abilities.

HEX ARSENAL: A technique that originated from the Hayashi clan. Chiyoko can mold cursed energy into different weapons and shields and she could also channel more cursed energy into weapons with special/unique abilities depending on what they are. Chiyoko likes to use various weapons in different mythologies and even in some animes.

EIGHT DEADLY SINS TECHNIQUE: This is also a technique that originated from the Hayashi family. Originally, Chiyoko is able to summon seven very powerful shikigamis. When they (Chiyoko or shinigami) are in the presence of the sin they represent they will grow exponentially more powerful. Chiyoko was the first of her family to summon the eighth shikigami. It also allows the user to control dangerous and "evil" shikigamis and mythological creatures.

♡ENVIOUS KING: TSUCHINOKO: A giant snake shikigami that has a rather flexible body with sturdy scales. It's very fast and has enough strength to strangle and crush a grade 1 cursed spirit.

♡ PRIDEFUL KING: KOMAINU: A lion-dog shikigami that can quickly attack and kill its master's targets. It is able to grow its horn and skewer curses that are grade 2 at most.

♡ WRATHFUL KING: OROCHI: A dragon shikigami that can be used as a surprise attack and binding the opponent. Orochi has a medium-grade water manipulation and can rip cursed spirits into pieces with their teeth.

♡ LUSTFUL KING: USHIONI:  A cow shikigami with small, gold rings on each of its horns. Ushioni also controls fire at a great range as well as breathing fire and generating it by stomping on its foot. The gold rings on its horns can catch and absorb fire if thrown, further powering up Ushioni.

♡ SLOTHFUL KING: ONIKUMA: A large black bear shikigami that can not only walk upright like a human but also hide and move in the shadows and excels in surprise attacks.

♡ GLUTTONOUS KING: INOSHISHI: A slimy mass of black ooze that takes the shape of a boar most of the time, with its ooze always dripping. Where it lacks in strength and speed, Inoshihi makes it up with his ability to consume almost anything, whether it is a cursed technique or a cursed spirit.

♡ AVARICE KING: TAMAMO: A kitsune shikigami distracts the enemy so that Chiyoko can escape. Tamamo excels in creating illusions and confusing opponents.

♡ DESPAIRING KING: SHINCHU: A silkworm moth shinigami with wings that remind people of angels that are known to perform miracles only for the user who summoned it. Shinchu is also able to create silk that it uses to defend the user,  attack opponents using it, and perform miracles with it. Shinchu was considered a legend among the Hayashi Family and the Jujutsu World as the user must feel nothing but despair to summon it.

♡ MAXIMUM: ORIGINAL SIN: A fusion of all seven/eight shikigamis into one immensely powerful chimera shikigami.

CURSED DIVINE WATER: A technique that Benzaiten allow Chiyoko to use. It allows the user to fully manipulate the element water in any of state of matter.

DIVINE TATSU, YOKO: Benzaiten's tastu shikigami that is often used for devouring opponents, transportation, and protection. Yoko can also shoot large streams of water from his mouth.

DIVINE WHITE SNAKE, HAITO: Benzaiten's white snake shikigami that is often used for delivering messages and stealth attacks. Haito is also known for his venomous bites with venom as deadly as a black mamba's.

♡ BARRIER TECHNIQUES ♡

IRON MAIDEN'S TORTUE ROOM: The area becomes a dungeon with several clones of the user wearing masks and wielding different weapons. Each time a clone is destroyed two more appear in its place, the real version of Chiyoko will be able to summon chains in order to try and restrain the opponent.

GARDEN OF EDEN: Chiyoko's Domain Expansion. It creates a space that is similar to a lush forest/jungle with a large number of tall trees. Within this domain, Chiyoko is capable to summon all of her seven shikigamis and allow them to have full reign of the environment. Sometimes, they work together to attack the opponent. While she can't fully control who enters her domain, she can still control who her shikigami attack.

꒰🌸꒱ EQUIPMENT ♡꙼̈ ࿐ ࿔

TWIN CHAKRAMS: Chiyoko also uses twin chakrams with jet-black and white steel for both. She often uses her telekinesis to retrieve them after using them.

TWIN KUSARIGAMAS: Chiyoko primarily goes into battle with twin kusarigamas that can extend when needed. She uses her kusarigama during long-distance fights and for traveling without having to summon one of her shikigamis.

TESSEN FAN (WITH HIDDEN TANTO): Chiyoko also goes into battle with a crimson tessen fan with golden flower prints and a tanto hidden in the tessen. Her tessen also grants wind manipulation and it's strong and durable enough to cut through steel with ease.
