Thingy for Reindeer

For the egg contest- Egg 2!

  Freedom's POV
I was flying above the Ocean, searching for the Bay of A Thousand Scales. I was the Hybrid Representatives for the Pyrrhia Dragons Meet. In this, each tribe sends one dragon as a representative for their tribe. I was sent by the Hybrids to the Bay of A Thousand Scales to talk with the tribes at the Summer Palace of Queen Coral.

As I'm flying by, I notice something small in the water, buried half in the sand at the bottom of the ocean. I fly closer to inspect the minuscule object. To my surprise, it's a seawing egg. I gasp as salty air fills my lungs in panic. From what I read, Seawing eggs need heat and have to be open to the water. What's a seawing egg doing in the cold ocean, almost completely covered in sand?

"What do I do?" I ask myself, staring down at the seawing egg. "It can barely breath!" Being a Rain-Nightwing, I'm not keen on swimming. On the other talon though, this dragonet could die. I have to make my choice, and fast.

I hold my breath and dive into the salty and icy water. I use my wings to push myself deeper and deeper, closer and closer to the egg. The ocean current is pushing me away, but I keep my ground, or water I should say. Almost..almost..Gotcha! I grasp the egg within my talons and surface as fast as I can.

Surfacing, I take several breaths of the crisp ocean air. I can see the egg better. It's a dark blue with wave patterns and it contains one light blue and white stripe. "I have to get this little one warm." I say. I see a small beach with a cave. Scattering along the beach seem to be pools of water with some kind of hot rocks in the bottom.

I enter the cave which also has a pool. "Who would put these here?" I ask myself while I carefully place the egg into the pool. Lying down next to the pool, I make another decision. I don't know where the Bay of a Thousand Scales is, and this egg needs attending to. I'll stay here and protect the egg. It's so small and helpless on its own.

I wrap my tail around the pool's outer edge and camouflage my usual amethyst and gold scales into a silvery grey like the cave walls. "Don't worry little one." I whisper to the soon to become dragonet. My eyelids feel heavy and my breath starts to steady. Finally, I let myself fall into a slumber.
