Just a little note to say that Eevee's move set will be from the Gold/Silver games instead of Heart Gold/Soul Silver since Blue doesn't have Eevee there.

  Red was nervous, the crowd had almost filled and he didn't have Blue here anymore, Henry had escorted him to his seat a short while earlier.
  "Gosh, what have I agreed to?" Red nervously joked to Pikachu who was on his shoulder ready to support his trainer in this battle.
  'I'm not sure who to send out first, Pikachu will most likely be expected if any of the opponents know me and I'm not that confident with Eevee since he's Blues Pokemon' Red was overthinking, he hadn't noticed the announcer at first who already announcing the opening of the match.

  "In the yellow corner, we have Hiker Daniel!" Daniel came out and stood ready in position, waving at the crowd as they cheered.

  "In the green corner, we have Ace Trainer Tanner!" Tanner's entrance was cocky, waving the to crowd and shooting a 'thumbs up' in Daniel's direction, the crowd cheered louder.

  "In the blue corner, we have Veteran Pamela!" She came out and stood in her position confidently as the crowd was ecstatic, she was a favourite to win the competition.

  "And in the red corner," the announcer paused to build the tension "Stepping in for Black Belt Glen we have..... Red, former champion of the Kanto region!"

   The crowd was louder than before. Red nervously stepped out, his signature partner with him, he waved with a nervous smile as he looked around the room that was filled with eager spectators until his sight caught Blue, he had been given a seat right next to the arena where Red was, he was able to calm himself a little knowing Blue was close to him.
  'Can't let him down now can we?' Red thought to himself gaining a little confidence he used to have while battling.

  Blue was stood cheering for Red as his name was called, he laughed a little as he came out of the red corner 'How fitting' he joked with himself but knew how nervous he must have been feeling, it'd been a long time since Red battled competitively, the last time Blue even remembered him battling like this was their battle at the Indigo League.

  The cheers began to fade and the announcer could be heard through the speakers that were placed around the large room.

  "This is going to be a good one folks, we have some tough competitors here today. Challengers, please bring out your first Pokémon"

  Red was hoping the other competitors thought he would use Pikachu first.
"Nidoqueen let's go!" Pamela shouted as she released her Pokémon into the arena.

  "We can do this Machamp!" Tanner said, throwing his Poké ball up and catching it again then releasing his Pokémon.

  "Tyranitar, go!" Daniel said quickly releasing his Pokémon as Tyranitar came out with a roar.

  'Looks like I made the right choice this time' Red thought.

Blue looked on anxious yet excited because he didn't know what Red was thinking, but he knew he'd be planning each and every move in this tournament.

  "Come on out Charizard!" Red threw his ball out surprising most of the crowd with his first choice.
  'Okay, Nidoqueen isn't much of a threat since its ground moves can't hit us, but we need to be careful since we don't know what other moves it might have... Machamp would be the easiest to take out right now with our advantage but Tyranitar is going to be a big problem here.. Hmm, I'll probably be their first target here but I think I've got it' Red ran strategies through his mind, trying to calculate possible outcomes without knowing the move set of the other Pokémon.

  His thoughts were interrupted when the announcer could be heard again
"It's that time folks... The Battle Royal starts... Now!"

  A siren could be heard marking the start of the battle and instantly everyone was ready to go.

  Red knew he had to act right away to avoid a barrage of attacks "Charizard, Air Slash on Machamp now!"

  Charizard let out a cry as he flew up ready to attack.

  "Machamp quickly, use Stone Edge" Tanner shouted.

  The Machamp was quick and used Stone Edge but missed giving Charizard the perfect opportunity to attack. It was a hit, but not a knockout.

  "Good job Charizard, we need to do that again, but watch out for the other Pokémon"

  "Tyranitar Rock Slide on Charizard now!" Daniel ordered.

  'This is going to be a blow' Red thought and quickly shouted
"Charizard, fly up and try to avoid it!"

As Charizard flew up Red was taken by surprise as Pamela jumped in
  "Nidoqueen, use Earth Power on Tyranitar!"

  Tyranitar was too slow and Earth Power hit, causing its special defense to be lowered, Red
knew what to do next "Charizard, Dragon Pulse on Tyranitar!"

  Before the Tyranitar could recover from its previous blow Charizard was charging up and flying straight towards Tyranitar, he let out his attack and the crowd went silent. They couldn't see Tyranitar under Charizard's Dragon Pulse. Suddenly there was a loud thud.

  "Ohh and Tyranitar is down after Charizard swooped in for the KO!" the announcer exclaimed.

  Daniel huffed as he called back Tyranitar "Good job out there" he pulled out another Poké ball "Let's see how well you do against this. Aerodactyl, it's your turn!"

  Aerodactyl let out a screech meanwhile Red was already working on finishing off Machamp "Charizard, Air Slash again!"

  "Not this time, Machamp Stone Edge!"

    Charizard tried to avoid the attack again but failed, taking significant damage.

  "And that was a critical hit!" the announcer shouted.

   Red winced as Charizard let out a roar.

  Blue reacted too, hoping that Charizard was okay. "Charizard!" Red shouted. then Charizard stood back up, visibly damaged but unwilling to be beaten so easily, Charizard let out a growl, standing confidently and ready to go. 

  Red didn't have much time to think about his next move, Daniel had already ordered for Aerodactyl to use Protect while Pamela's Nidoqueen charged up Ice Beam to try and knock out the prehistoric Pokemon. 

  Blue watched on nervously, he could see Red's face. It had a certain look, he was calculating his next move carefully 'Still like he used to be, that's what made him the superior trainer' Blue thought letting out a small laugh,  he didn't feel hurt by that fact anymore and was happy enough standing by as his friend's support.

  He cupped his hands around his mouth and took in a large breath "YOU GOT THIS RED!!" Blue shouted. Red snapped out of his thoughts and momentarily locked his gaze with Blue's, he smiled which turned into a grin.

  "Charizard, stay still for just a moment" Charizard was a little confused by his trainer's decision but didn't doubt it, he firmly stood his ground ready for his next order.

  "Machamp, use Knock Off!" Tanner shouted to his Pokemon.

  "Gotcha" Red grinned "Charizard, get ready to use Air Slash!" Machamp was running at Charizard to use its attack but Charizard was ready, as soon as Machamp was close enough "NOW!" Red shouted, before the Machamp could pull off its move Charizard had struck.

  The Machamp fell back now unconscious, Tanner called him back "You did great today".

  "That super effective move has taken down Machamp! But how much longer can Charizard hang on?" the announcer could be heard.

  Meanwhile, Pamelas Nidoqueen used Sludge Bomb on Daniels Aerodactyl which also poisoned it then Aerodactly hit Nidoqueen with Ice Fang knocking it out. 

  Tanner send the sent out Slowbro and Pamela sent out Arcanine. 

  Red then decided to target Aerodactyl, but it looked like Daniel had the same idea "Aerodactly use Stone Edge!" Daniel shouted to his pokemon.

  Red had to make a quick choice "Charizard, now use Flare Blitz!" 

Blue was anxious at Red's choice but knew he could pull it off, he has so much adrenaline coursing through him, he hadn't been this excited about a Pokemon battle in a long time, but watching Red made him feel different, and he couldn't contain it, he continued to cheer for Red and his team which in turn gave Red the confidence he once had in battling.

  Charizard let out a roar and collided with Aerodactly in the air, Flare Blitz hit, Aerodactyl fell but so did Charizard, both trainers called back their Pokemon "You did amazing Charizard! You take a good rest" Red smiled down at the Poke ball. 

  "The current statistics show Red in the lead with 3 KO'S and one Pokemon fainted, Daniel is in second with one KO but two Pokémon down and Pamela and Tanner are in third with one Pokemon down each," the announcer said.

  Red thought to himself 'This should be easy, logically Daniel should be targeted because if his last Pokemon is defeated then this match is over'

  "Ready buddy?" Red asked Pikachu,

  "PIKA-!" Pikachu jumped into the battlefield ready to battle, his cheeks sparked with electricity.

  "Saved my best for last" Daniel grinned "Hippowdon go!"

  'That's going to be a problem' Red thought.

  Pamela ordered Arcanine to use Protect as Daniel tried to hit a Crunch with Hippowdon, Red took this opportunity to try and take out Slowbro "Pikachu, Volt Tackle on Slowbro!" Red had ordered.

  "Slowbro, Calm Mind" Tanner told his Pokémon.

  Slowbro managed to use Calm Mind before Pikachu could hit, when he did Tanner had already called out for Slowbro to use Psychic. Before Red could react Slowbro hit, also lowering Pikachu's special attack.

  Red thought quickly "Pikachu, Quick Attack then Thunder!"

  "PIKA!" Pikachu called out as he ran full speed at Slowbro.

  Unfortunately for Tanner Pikachu was too quick and thunder came down from the sky, hitting Slowbro and knocking it out.

  "Ooo, that looked like it hurt, another KO for Red," the announcer said as the crowd was ecstatic.

  As Red looked over to Daniel and Pamela Hippowdon has just taken down Arcanine with a final crunch, it was getting closer.

  Red knew he had to try and deal with Hippowdon, it was his quickest way of winning but it was going to be a problem for Pikachu but he thought up a plan.

  Tanner called out his final Pokémon sending out Snorlax and Pamela sent out Blastoise.

  'Have to act fast' Red thought "Pikachu, Quick Attack then Iron Tail!"

  Daniel grinned "Hippowdon, use Yawn!"

  Pikachu hit with his Quick Attack then Hippowdon used Yawn, making Pikachu drowsy, Pikachu used Iron Tail to deal a little more damage then fell asleep.

  "PIKACHU RETURN!" Red shouted before Pikachu took any more damage.

  Tanner hit Hippowdon with a Return as Red called out Eevee "This is down to you now little guy" Red let out a breath of air "Eevee go!"

  The crowd was surprised to see an Eevee in such an intense battle "YOU CAN DO IT EEVEE!" Blue poured out his emotion to his small friend,

  "EE-VEE!" Eevee squealed, ready to battle.

  Just then Pamela ordered Blastoise to use Water Pulse on Hippowdon "Eevee, use Quick Attack on Hippowdon, and then take Blastoise's attack!"

  'I hope you know what you're doing' Blue anxiously thought, the thought of Eevee being hurt, hurt Blue himself, he couldn't bear it.

  Eevee did as he was told, staggering a little after taking the attack "Hang in there Eevee" Red said "One more Quick Attack!"

  "Eeee" Eevee ran headfirst at Hippowdon, landing the hit. Everything stopped for a moment and then Hippowdon hit the ground.

  Another siren could be heard "AND THAT'S IT, FOLKS! All 3 of Daniels Pokémon are down marking the end of the battle"

  Blue couldn't contain himself, he ran towards the backstage area where Red had previously waited.

Awards were handed out, Red received a gold trophy for his win.

  When onstage celebrations were over each participant headed back into the coloured corner they came out of.

  Blue was waiting but couldn't contain himself, Red barely made it backstage before Blue wrapped his arms around him "AH, YOU DID IT, IT CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I MEAN I CAN, BUT YOU DID IT, EEVEE YOU DID AMAZING YOU ALL DID AHH I'M JUST SO HA-" Blue was still ecstatic.

  Red cut him off "Blue calm down and breathe" he laughed,

  Blue let go of him "O-oh, of course".

  The two walked back through the corridors after the Pokémon were healed and Red was thanked for his participation. "We should celebrate" Blue perked up.

  "Oh?" Red curiously replied,

  "Yeah, we should go somewhere, eat somewhere new.. Just something".

  "Sounds like a good idea, you can choose" Red responded with a smile
  "But you won the battle, it should be your choice," Blue said,

  "But I couldn't have done it without Eevee" Red said, smiling at Eevee who was now being carried by Blue.

  "That's true, let me think" Blue praised Eevee with head pats.

  They got outside and the warm air felt cool, at least cooler than inside the arena, they decided to go back to the hotel to freshen up before they did anything else when Blue started to lag behind Red a bit.

  Red turned to see that Blue seemed to be sweating, he ran over to him
"Blue, blue! Are you okay" Red held his arms while Eevee jumped to the floor now, nudging his head against his legs.

  "I'm fine, I jus-" his voice was weak and cut off then he collapsed into Red.

  "BLUE" Red gently shook him but barely got a response. Red frantically looked around for help and spotted a woman "HELP, PLEASE" he shouted, Eevee ran up to her and bumped into her leg to get her attention.

  She turned and realised what the fuss was about and hurried over to the two men "P-please, can you help?
"Yes, yes, of course, let me call for an ambulance"

  Red's focus was fixed on Blue, he set him down on the floor gently and kneeled next to him, not letting his hand go.

  "The ambulance will be here shortly," The woman said quickly.

  "Th-thank you... Blue... Please.." Red's voice broke, the man he loved was unresponsive and he didn't know what else to do.
