Part 33

After landing just in front of Malie City, Blue guided Red to one of the buildings near the entrance of the city, it was a restaurant.

"Sushi High Roller," Red said while reading off the restaurant's sign, "Sounds great" he continued with a smile.

"Then let's eat, I'm getting hungry too" Blue chuckled.

As they entered the restaurant they were met with a calm atmosphere, the room itself was designed similarly a zen garden.

A waiter greeted them and took them to an empty table, Red pulled out a seat for Blue. They both sat down and the waiter handed them both a menu each.

"I'll be back over soon to take your orders," he said with a welcoming smile before leaving to check on other tables.

The menu had different Z-Kaiseki dishes on offer. Blue ordered the Samurai set and Red ordered the Ronin set.

A little while later their food arrived, multiple intricate sushi dishes were set down in front of them. They thanked the waiter for their food and dug in, indulging themselves in the delectable arrangement of food.

"Don't take too long eating" Blue said between bites "We have somewhere else to be after this".

Red finished eating a piece of his sushi before responding,
"Really? The sun's already started to go down" Red replied curiously as the day was already in the early evening and the sun had started to set.

"Mhm!" Blue responded with a nod, his voice muffled by the mouthful of food he was cramming down.

"And I'm not allowed to know what, right?" Red replied almost sarcastically,

Blue swallowed his food, "You're getting good at this" he laughed.

Red chuckled in response and continued eating his food.

When they finished the waiter cleared their table and asked if they'd like anything else.

Before he could finish asking, Blue was already getting ready to leave
"No thanks, we have somewhere to be" Blue replied while taking his wallet out of his pocket "I am ready to pay though," he said with a warm smile.

Blue handled the bill but Red was still left wondering what else they were going to be doing this evening since Blue was full of surprises today.

They thanked their waiter and exited the restaurant, stepping into the cool breeze the sunset brought with it.

Blue checked the time then grabbed Red by the wrist and pulled him along,
"We need to hurry or we'll miss it," Blue said as he hurried them both out of Malie City.

Red was more befuddled than ever in the rush but kept up with Blue pulling him along.

Now on Route 10 Blue slowed down and let go of Red,
"We need to go there, there's a bus that's going to take us up Mount Hokulani," Blue said and gestured to a group of people waiting at a bus stop and then up at the mountain towards the end of the route.

They joined the group but didn't have to wait long for the bus. When it arrived everyone piled on. Friends, couples, and families filled the atmosphere with excitement.

Red was sitting next to the window so watched out of it as the bus headed up the mountain. He could hear people talking about "Hokulani Observatory" which gave him a very obvious answer as to where they were going, but he also heard them say "Minior" a lot. Red didn't know what that meant, he thought about asking Blue but stopped himself,
'He probably won't tell me anyway' He thought with a gentle sigh and a soft smile. He was still grateful for the effort Blue had put into the day for them.

Before Red could think about anything else his attention was drawn to a child laughing. He turned to see a young girl who was sitting in the seat behind him making faces at Pikachu, and Pikachu doing the same in return.
He laughed softly at them, then Eevee climbed next to Pikachu and joined in.

Red and the Pokémon played with the girl keeping her entertained for the bus ride, her mother who sat next to her didn't mind.

Blue watched with a gentle smile on his face and his focus on Red.

"He's good with kids" A soft voice spoke up,

Blue's focus was broken, he looked behind in the direction the voice came from and saw it was the child's mother who had just spoken to him.

She looked at him with a smile and Blue gave a gentle smile back, averting his eyes back to Red,
"Yeah, he is" he replied softly as he watched them play.

Seeing the joy on Red's face made Blue feel a warmth inside himself.
Outside of his battles, Red had always been a kind-natured person and while Blue's younger self wouldn't admit it, he always respected Red for that. Blue had always been a stubborn child and didn't prioritise the important things, something which he regrets.

The journey wasn't long and they soon pulled up outside Hokukani Observatory.

Everyone calmly got off the bus although there was still an exciting buzz in the atmosphere.

Some of the children rushed towards the observatory, their parents trying to keep up with them.

As everyone approached the entrance a blonde-haired male greeted everyone, a smaller boy was also greeting guests alongside him.

"Welcome to Hokulani Observatory! I'm Molayne and I'm the head of this observatory, Sophocles here helps" he said with a warm laugh while pushing his glasses up his nose.

  "Togede!"

Molayne was interrupted by a small spherical Pokémon, he laughed a sigh.

"And that's Togedemaru!" Sophocles spoke up, laughing as Togedemaru rolled around between the guests.

"Feel free to look around and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!" he continued to say as he gestured towards the entrance.

Everyone made their way inside while Red, Blue, and their Pokémon waved to the girl and her mother as they parted ways.

They looked around the building, it had lots of different equipment and machines to help with the celestial research that took place at the observatory.

Both Red and Blue were in awe at the place. Lots of different studies of other planets, galaxies, and celestial objects had been done with lots more ongoing.

They entered a room at one end of the observatory, it was quite large with a partly open dome roof.

"Oh, this is the equatorial room," Red said,

"I have no idea what that means" Blue replied to him with a jovial tone.

Red just laughed, "It's the room with the big telescope in, see" Red responded and led blue towards the telescope.

Guests were allowed to look through the telescope and the two decided they would. Red let Blue take a look first, the telescope had already been positioned so it was facing a constellation that was currently visible.

"You have to see this" Blue said, moving away from the telescope to give Red some room,

Red peered down the eyepiece, he took in a breath of awe. He was looking at the Gardevoir Constellation.

"Do you see that single star nearby, the one shining brightly? That's the Pikachu Constellation" Blue said.

"Wow..." Red started to respond, but he was interrupted by an announcement that was made throughout the observatory.

"Could all guests please make their way outside to Starfall Hill, our employees will be waiting to guide you there".

Blue perked up, he took Red's hands and guided him to the exit alongside other guests.

A guide took them towards the back of the observatory and directed them to Starfall Hill.

Blue rushed ahead slightly, he was looking for the perfect spot for them to sit.
"Over here" he called over to Red as he waved his arm up, he'd found a spot just out of the way of other people with a clear view of the night sky above.

Eevee and Pikachu are ran to Blue and danced around his feet playing with each other.
"Settle down you two," Blue said, laughing at the two Pokémon.

Red approached, he could see Blue laughing and Red smiled softly at his expression.

Blue caught Red smiling at him and his cheeks quickly grew warm. He looked away and sat himself down,
"Yeah, this spots perfect," he said a little timorously.

Red quietly chuckled and sat himself down on the grass next to Blue, but as he did so he remembered the pendant he bought earlier in the day.
He fidgeted a bit as he pulled a small, narrow box from his pocket, it had a blue ribbon wrapped around it and into a small bow on top that was now a little unkempt.

"I didn't really have anywhere else to keep it" Red tittered a laugh. He held the box out to Blue in one hand,
"Open it, it's for you," Red said a little nervously.

Blue peered at the box for a moment then carefully took it from Red's hand. He studied it for a few seconds and ran his index and middle finger along the bow.

Red watched almost impatiently, he really hoped Blue liked it.

Blue took the end of the ribbon and pulled on it gently, undoing the bow.

He didn't say anything and he opened the box and saw the pendant inside, he carefully took it out and held it up, the light of the moon gazed through the blue pendant.

"I bought it for you because it was pretty and reminded me of the one you always wore" Red paused for a moment,
  "I-I really hope you lik-"

"I love it," Blue said softly, he was overcome with gratitude.

Red let out a sigh of relief,
"I'm glad, do you want me to help put it on?"

Blue replied with a nod and gave the pendant to Red.

Red opened the clasp and leaned towards Blue to reach round either side of his neck.

Blue could feel Red's warm breath on the side of his face, his body fluttered. He reached his arms around and pulled Red in, hugging him with his face buried into his chest.

Red closed the clasp and held Blue to him, a warm smile on his face.

From the corner of his eye, something caught Red's attention. He looked up to see a colourful light shoot through the sky.
"Look..." Red trailed off as another light flew through the sky.

Blue looked up "and the show begins," he said softly. He let go of Red and sat so he could rest his head against him while they watched the colourful display.
He gently held onto the pendant against his chest and smiled.
"These are Minor, a Pokémon from space. Their colour depends on what they eat and when their shells get too heavy they fall towards the Earth" Blue said, remembering what he could from his research.
"When they hit the ground their shell breaks and then you can really see them shine..." Blue trailed off with a pause.

"So these are Minior, I heard people talking about them earlier... And then what happens to them?" Red asked curiously,

Blue let out a sigh, "If they aren't caught in a Poké Ball they'll eventually just disappear..."

"Oh..." Red replied quietly, knowing what Blue meant.

"Yeah... That's life for them, but hey, the ones that are caught get to live with a loving trainer!" Blue said trying to lighten the mood.

"Yeah, you're right" Red replied, the fact still saddened him but there wasn't anything he could do about it.
He put his arm around Blue's waist, pulling him a little closer, and enjoyed what he could of the Minior shower.

They sat and watched the Minior shower, Pikachu and Eevee chasing each other in the grass.

When the display ended people started to leave Starfall Hill, but Red and Blue stayed a little longer. They didn't say anything, just sat in peaceful silence with each other for a short while.

The silence broke when Blue yawned, Red let out a soft laugh,

"We should head back to the hotel, it's late and you need some sleep, you were up early this morning, and you're still technically recovering," Red said with a soft laugh as he stood up and held his hand out to Blue.

"Yeah yeah," Blue replied semi-sarcastically as he took his hand, when he was stood up he checked the time.
"Oh no, we've missed the last ferry back to Akala Island. I completely forgot I'm so-"

Blue was interrupted as Red held Blue's chin and turned his head to face him. He placed a gentle kiss on Blue's lips which took him by surprise.

"It's okay," Red whispered, he let go of Blue and took out one of his Poké Balls, he threw it up and called for Charizard.
"Charizard will get us there, no problem, okay?" he continued.

  Blue was calmer now,
"Okay," he replied, exhaling a large breath of air, "Let's go".

Red smiled and helped Blue onto Charizard, the Pokémon also jumping on and sitting in front of Blue.
Red sat behind and held onto Blue then pat Charizard on his side instructing him to fly

They got back to the resort and quietly made their way back to their room, kicking their shoes off when they entered, leaving the lights off. Red placed the rest of their things neatly to the side.

Blue was ready to get in bed right away and tried to undo his shirt but was fumbling with the buttons in his tired state, he was getting a little frustrated.

Red took hold of his hands and stopped him,
"Here," he said softly and carefully undid each button for him.

Blue yawned a thank you and kicked off his shorts, then practically threw himself into bed, he was exhausted.

Red closed the curtains in their room then undressed and followed Blue to bed, pulling the sheets over both of them and then wrapping his arms around Blue.
"Thank you for today, I had a lot of fun" Red gently whispered,

Blue didn't say anything, instead, he gently kissed the front of Red's neck as a way of saying 'you're welcome' then nuzzled his head into his chest.

Red smiled to himself and placed a kiss on Blue's forehead before the two fell into a restful sleep.
