Welcome to Repent, a mafia game!
In typical mafia games, there are usually two teams (the Town and the Mafia) and the Neutrals, each with their own goal. They will work through the days and nights of the game to fulfill their purpose in life, despite their real purpose in life being entertainment for me.
The Town's goal is to survive without any more purposeful killings happening because of the mafia or neutral roles.
The Mafia and Coven's goals are to kill all of the Town roles or roles whose goals contrast with their own, including each other.
The Neutrals each have their own goal, whether it be surviving, killing everyone, being lynched, or something else.
This book will have several gamemodes as well, and they could change what roles are in the game, what some roles do (slightly), or what some roles want.
Each player has a specific role, and they determine what faction they're on, their day/night action, and their winning conditions.
The game has two states- day and night. During the day, players can talk amongst each other and vote to lynch players. A couple roles also have actions that can be used during the day. During the night, players can use their night actions, and the mafia may talk to each other through me.
There will be several comment chains I will create each day or night: discussion, voting, trial, activity, and roleplay chains.
Discussion chains will only be there during the day, and they are the main place to talk about who is the mafia. I will only get involved in discussion chains if someone directly asks me a question about game mechanics.
Voting chains are day exclusive as well, and they will decide who will be put on trial. After at least half of the living players put in a vote for one person, the trial chain will open, and the accused can make a final defense for themselves. After they make their defense or 24 hours pass without a response, every other living player can vote on their innocence. If the majority say the accused is guilty, they are lynched, and their role will be publicly revealed.
Activity chains will be posted every day and night. If a player misses three checks in a row, they will be killed from inactivity, and their roles will be revealed publicly.
Each player may also write a last will, which will be revealed on the next day or night if they die. Wills may be updated at any time, as long as the player writing one is still alive.
Non-town killing roles can have a deathnote set, which is a message they can give to the town when they kill a player.
DMing other players about the game or directly talking with them privately is not allowed, even if the players are mafia members together.
Whispering, however, is allowed. To whisper, DM me a message you'd like me to relay during the day and who you'd like to whisper to, and I will. However, I will write that you are whispering to that person in the Discussion Chain.
The Necronomicon is an item that is given to the Coven on night three and increases the Coven's abilities. If there is a Coven Leader, they will get it first, and the Medusa will always get it last. All the either members get it in a randomized order, which is rolled for once the current holder of the Necronomicon dies.
Most roles and gamemodes are copied from Town of Salem and aren't mine. I will say when they are mine, but if I don't, they aren't.
