Twilightbreeze paddled toward the fresh-kill pile, cats whispering about her behind. 

"Look! The liar came!"

"She did not even deserve to have a share in the fresh-kill pile!"

She banned down, taking the smallest vole from the pile. She did not really care about what the others said, but she still took the smallest as she was not hungry. She was tired of the glances and whispers so she decided to have her meal in the den. She was ready to head to the medicine cat den when she saw Birdflight heading to the pile. She did not know how Birdflight felt about her now, but their friendship might worsen as Fernheart was his sister.

Birdflight eyed her nervously as he took a mouse from the pile. Twilightbreeze glanced at Birdflight as she saw there was some yellow transparent liquid dripping from the mouse. Birdflight did not seem to notice as he paddled to his usual spot, under the pine tree.

Twilightbreeze sniffed. The scent was so familiar. She always had the gift of the strong smell sense and it was used again. 

"Wait! Birdflight!" Twilightbreeze mewed as Birdflight shoved the mouse into his mouth. Birdflight looked up as Twilightbreeze came near and grabbed the mouse. Birdflight watched puzzledly as she sniffed at the mouse. Fernheart and Mudblossom watched with disbelief when Twilightbreeze inspected the mouse, staring at the dripping yellow liquid.

"Take a look at the amazing show of the Mysterious Yellow Liquid by Twilightbreeze!" Fernheart snored as she announced. Mudblossom nodded. The cats circled around Twilightbreeze, some of them snickered but most of them watched quietly. 

Although sometimes Fernheart's speech was hurtful, she could not possibly blame her. She blamed herself for causing all of the trouble. She could have pointed out the wrong cat. After all, there were a lot of dark brown furred cats out there.

But Mudblossom was not completely innocent either. Fear was shown in her eyes when she was being pointed out... Twilightbreeze shoved all the unanswered questions into the darkest corner of her mind. It was not the time for thinking, it was the time for focusing.

"What...what...happened?" Birdflight asked nervously when Twilightbreeze froze.

"The mouse is covered with snake venom."

"How can it be?" Leafstar paced around the crowded medicine cat den, glancing at Ravenwind and Twilightbreeze.

Once Twilightbreeze delivered the snake venom to the medicine cat den, Ravenwind took a look at it and confirmed Twilightbreeze's anxiety. Along with the medicine cats, the leaders and deputies come to inspect the prey, but they kept a far distance from it.

Tinykit was lying on the moss with Yellowblossom beside her "This...this...is...how...my...vole...looks...like..." she mewed quietly, "With...some...yellow...liquid..." 

Yellowblossom asked, "But why? I gave you a rabbit and I inspected it carefully! There is no sign of venom!" "Yellowblossom, you said that you gave Tinykit a rabbit that day instead of Whiskerpetal giving her. And Tinykit said she ate a rabbit. Maybe you got the vole from somewhere else?" Twilightbreeze suggested.

The crowd nodded as they waited silently for Tinykit's answer. After a long silence, Tinykit mewed in an even lower voice, "I...I...took it from...under...the...pine...pine...tree...from the clearing..."

Yellowblossom looked up with terror, and after a second, Twilightbreeze knew why.
