26. Kolivan- Altean Roots, Galra Blood

I slipped on my white face mask again as Haggar approached me.

"High Priestess Haggar," I greeted, bowing.

"(Y/N), my head disciple. I have a task for you. We have recently found out a base called the Blade Of Marmora. Sire would like you to infiltrate it, and destroy it. Use any means necessary. Earn their trust, then mercilessly betray them. If you can, kill them one by one." She had a wicked smirk on her face as she said this.

I felt my skin drain of its purple color.

"Y-Yes, High Priestess." I bowed as she walked away.

"By the way, you are allowed to take off your mask for this. I shall keep it, in case you die. I want to remember you," Haggar said, reaching out her hand. I hesitated to pull my mask off, and slip down my hood. I let my (Hair Color) hair fall out, and my (Eye Color) irises to be revealed.

"I will not let you down, High Priestess Haggar. Vrepit Sa," I vowed, changing my billowing robes into normal Earth clothing. I also changed to look more human-like, a bit shorter. Still with my pointed ears, and Altean markings.

"Go," Haggar ordered. I bowed and ran off.

I purposely sent out a distress signal from an already prepared escape pod, hoping to catch the attention of Voltron. I smirked as the giant blue castle-ship came into view.

"This is Princess Allura of the planet Altea! We are coming to rescue you!" a voice bellowed. My smirk immediately dropped. Allura... Is that really you? I watched as the castle swallowed me, closing my eyes as darkness engulfed my senses.

I opened my eyes again and saw a team standing before me. I gasped as I saw the all-too familiar princess standing before me.

"What... But, how? I didn't think... There would be any Alteans left in the universe..." she whispered, running up to me, checking my face. I forced myself not to cry, and reminded myself of the mission at hand.

"I-I was held captive, and experimented on in the Galra main station," I lied, well, partly. I was experimented on, where the sentries injected Galra blood into my veins. "I got out just in time." Allura looked at me, eyes glowing.

"It's so nice to see a fellow Altean..." she whispered, hugging me. I tensed up, but tried to embrace her back. I looked at the others in front of me. There were more than twenty people. I saw a familiar looking black and purple crest upon one of their knives. Thace. The Blade Of Marmora. I winced at the painful thought.

He had survived the explosion, but I had to kill him with my magic. I still remember the hot tears flowing down my face as I killed a friend. A friend I had made at my time on the Galran side. I breathed in and out as a voice pierced my thoughts.

"Hey, are you okay?" I jumped back. What would Haggar do if she saw me this vulnerable?

"I-I'm fine. Wh-Who are you?" I croaked, trying to get rid of the horrible memories. I got lost in thought again as I saw a Blade take off their helmet.

I remember Thace's final words, as he smiled compassionately at me.

"I forgive you." Those were the last words I wanted to hear. I was a monster. An Altean, no less. Galra blood, Altean roots. I was a monster, a hybrid, a scum.

"Hey, hey. Are you sure you're okay?" the same voice said. I nodded vigorously, fighting back tears.

"If you want to say something, say it. We're listening." I opened my mouth.

"I knew Thace. He was one of you. He was... an amazing fighter, friend, and companion. I saw him die, not because of the explosion that rang through the chambers, but from a Galra Priest," I choked out, knowing that it was true. I killed him. "I want to join your group, and hope that I can fight back... against the Galra Empire."

Some of them nodded, and gave smiles to me. I plastered on a fake smile, but on the inside I was crying with confusion and vain. A Galran man with a small white braid came up to me and offered me a hand.

"If you did know something about Thace, we should talk."

Over the next few months. I had learned so much from the paladins and the Blades. I actually had developed feelings for Kolivan. But everyday, there was this nagging voice in my head that reminded me that I needed to carry out my mission.

It all changed when I tried out to be a Blade. I had gotten in, and this is where all the mayhem happened. It was the middle of the night when I had gotten no sleep, and decided to wander around the base where I was staying at.

I walked out onto the porch and looked at the beautiful night sky.

"(Y/N)." I turned around to meet Kolivan.

"Kolivan," I replied, smiling slightly. When was the last time I had smiled with a Galran?

"I have something to tell you."

"Tell me what, Kolivan?" I asked, walking towards him. He backed away a little, but walked towards me. We were inches away from each other, and started to lean in, if some sort of magnet was attracting us. Our lips connected, in a short, sweet kiss.

I tried to force myself away, knowing it would be safer for him not to get into a relationship with me, but I couldn't resist. I wrapped my arms around his neck, as he pressed his body against mine in the pale moonlight. I knew I had made a mistake.

Tears streamed down my face as I looked at the bloodied paladins, and the Blades. I let them speak, knowing that they hated me.

"We trusted you, (Y/N)!"

"How could you?"

"I cared for you as I would a little sister, and this is how you repay us!"

"Despicable!"

I let all the hatred sink in as I closed my eyes and cried. Why? Why did I have to be a traitor? Allura, I remember the memories of our times in the castle. I was the daughter of King Alfor's second in command.

I walked away, leaving the paladins and the Blades behind me.

"I forgive you." I stopped dead in my tracks as I heard that voice. Not you too... Kolivan. Please, don't.

"I forgive you, (Y/N)." The battle field was quiet, except for the flames licking the ruins of a building.

"I forgive you, for all of the things you did to us. I forgive you for all of the things you did to them. I know it wasn't your fault. I. Forgive. You," Kolivan said, compassion dripping from his honey-sweet voice. I broke down in sobs.

"Not you too... Kolivan, please. I don't deserve it. I didn't deserve this... This wonderful team. Thace, you, Ulaz, I didn't deserve to know about these amazing beings who were willing to sacrifice themselves to protect others," I screamed, looking at all of the group, who I remembered, almost yesterday, were smiling at me with joy and happiness.

"I'm a monster. Just, please. Let me live down with the imprint that I can't be forgiven. Please." I felt my hand gnarl into a claw, slashing Kolivan's leg one more time, so he fell to the ground, groaning in pain.

I recalled all the sweet kisses we shared, all the heated nights, all the happy smiles, and all of the fantastic journeys we went on. I didn't want to hurt him anymore. I didn't want to see them anymore. So I just left, like a coward. Once I was a mile away, I didn't go back to Zarkon. I sent a message to them.

"Friends. What I never had with the Galra. What I had with all of you. It's a speculation that I never realized I needed until now. I realize now, that I was wrong, siding with Zarkon. So I will send you one last goodbye and duty. Hopefully, you'll never see me again. My last time in this universe is now filled with remorse and regret. It's what I deserve. And please, take care of Kolivan for me." I sent the message to Pidge, hoping she will see it.

Positioning myself on the edge of a cliff, I counted to thirty, preparing myself for my death.

3... 2...

"(Y/N)!" I felt tears rise up again.

"Kolivan, please! Stop!" I yelled, looking at him, "I don't want to have to hurt you again!"

"You don't have to do this! We can save you, (Y/N)!"

"No! I deserve this! I don't deserve you, Kolivan!"

"Well I think I deserve you, (Y/N)." His words left me speechless.

"Please, let me be selfish just this once and have you all to myself," Kolivan said, looking into my eyes.

"Kolivan..." He walked over to me and embraced me. I sobbed into his shoulder, hugging him tightly.

"Don't leave me again."
