7. Zarkon- My Lord
(This is before... he turned... all wack.)

I smiled as I saw the paladins of Voltron take off into the stratosphere. I sighed and sat on a bench in the castle of the Galra. I watched suitors for the throne next to Zarkon pat their makeup and look in the mirror, sizing up their, ahem, "lady parts." I groaned as I held their dresses and clothing, that they were going to change into when the lord came back.
I, being a servant, would never be able to see the lord in a love interest, after all, all his suitors were all noble women and came from very rich kingdoms that Alfor had made alliances with. I guided the women out to his majesty's entrance to the castle. I saw his cape swish in the wind that came from the outside weather.
He was very handsome, I have to admit. I had stars in my eyes as I looked at the slight smile on his face when he greeted his staff. I made eye contact with him for a second, but then looked away, blushing.
"Sire, these are the suitors for your empire to rule by," I said, bowing and revealing the beautiful women. I sighed to myself as the suitors all giggled simultaneously and flirtatiously waved at Lord Zarkon. I plastered on a fake smile and went to his side.
"Lord Zarkon, we must get you ready for dinner, you must be famished," I said, ushering him to his room. As his personal assistant, I must tend to all of the lord's needs and desires. I fixed his tuxedo and waited outside for him to change as I changed into a small dress. It had small Galra jewels on the bottom rim, and was (Favorite Color)ed. I blushed as Zarkon came out of his changing room, fully dressed in his tuxedo and with a black bow tie in the middle. I walked up to him and led the lord to the door.
"We musn't keep your guests waiting, my lord," I said, opening the door and letting him through. He stopped me once he reached the frame of the wooden door.
"Stay with me for dinner, I beg you," he said, eyes sparkling and a small grin on his face. My face flushed and I nodded, internally screaming.
"Come then, let us go," I said, regained my composure. He nodded and paced down the isle, into the dining hall. Everyone stared at the king of the Galra, in all his glory and strength. He did look rather dashing, might I add.
"Let the feast commence!" the announcer said, ringing a small, silver bell. I helped Zarkon sit down and I took a seat next to him.
"So! You actually made it, Zarkon!" a male voice rang out. I looked at the direction where the voice was coming from.
"It's a pleasure to see you here, Alfor," Zarkon said, watching his wife and baby at their table.
"As to you, I see you brought a little lady friend along, finally going to marry?" Alfor said as he playfully nudged Zarkon. I blushed and shook my head.
"Sorry to disappoint, but I'm his personal assistant, and only that," I giggled, smiling at Alfor.
"Bah, you should have been chosen for one of the suitors, in my opinion, none of them seem very... refined," Alfor whispered, pointing to the others, who were busy scarfing down food and/or taking pictures, doing makeup, fixing their hair, as the list goes on. I smiled and let out a small laugh.
"I'm very flattered, King Alfor, but sadly the chance will never come, I'm not from a royal family, and a ruler cannot marry a subject, that is law," I said, rather sadly.
"I'm sure you'll find a right one out there... Miss..."
"(Y/N), (Y/N) (L/N)." I smiled and shook his hand. He gave me a brief nod and returned to his seat. I looked across the room, and at all the women who were smothering Zarkon, in an attempt to woo him. I sighed and sat down, slowly eating the food that had gotten cold. This was going to be a long night.
(Timeskip)
I looked up at the velvet sky, dotted with pink, fluffy clouds and streaks of red. I sighed and started to sing.
Dancing bears,
Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December.
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory.
Far away,
Long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December
I wiped a small tear that was coming out of my eye, then sighed. I heard metal boots clinking on the floor, and I knew all too well who it was.
"M-My lord!" I exclaimed, putting a fist to my chest, "I-I did not know you were here!"
"No need for formalities, (Last Name), call me Zarkon."
"Zarkon, my lord, what brings you out here? Wouldn't you rather mingle with the guests?"
"I have gotten tired of their company, they keep on chatting about the most bizarre things."
"Like what, Zarkon?"
"These things called... hoo-hu-humans? And this planet called Earth, which can be inhabited by these humans."
"Most odd."
"I had underestimated the others' knowledge for these unknown places."
"I see... However, Zarkon, have any of the women sparked your interest?" I asked, fiddling with the string of my dress. He looked at me, his gaze softening.
"Yes, actually, there is one," he answered, turning his back towards me.
"Who is she?"
"She is the most intriguing person I have ever met. Funny, talented, witty, and a heart of gold. She does an amazing job in the battlefield, and truly honors the Galra name."
"You must be talking about Cortana."
"No, someone else."
"Kedilia?"
"Still wrong."
"Nepilodiea?"
"Nope."
"Trikadelsia? Myborea? Ucanseia? Juniper?"
"Nope, no, nope, and no," he chuckled bemusedly. I sighed at his amused demeanor. I suddenly felt a swoosh of wind and a warm hand lift up my chin. I was soon gazing into his yellow, shining eyes.
"Have I not made it obvious that it's you, (Y/N)?" he whispered, lips inches away from mine.
"Y-You have, Zarkon."
"Then let me show you what I really feel," he breathed. Next thing I knew, his Galran lips were touching mine, and fireworks exploded inside of my stomach. I gently placed my hands on top of his shoulders. He looped his arms around my torso, bringing me closer to his toned body. Once we separated, I blushed a dark crimson and looked down at the floor.
"That was quite enjoyable, (Y/N), now, let's go to the ball, in fact, the party has only begun."
"Yes, my lord."
