Esperanza nuzzled her son, tears falling down her cheeks. "Mommy, are you okay?" Spirit asked her and she smiled. "Yes. Just thinking of your father" Esperanza said, trying not to cry again. She perked up at a neigh she remembered and gasped as the horse runs to her.

"Strider?" She asked, now crying in happiness that she sees her mate again. "Yes. Esperanza, I'm home" Strider said, resting his forehead on hers. She smiled at his touch and licked his cheek. "Come, meet your son" Strider followed his mate to a small horse that had his mane and tail, but Esperanza's skin colour.

"He's amazing" he smiled and Spirit woke up. "Mommy, who's that?" He asked and his mother giggled. "Spirit, this is your father. Strider, meet Spirit" she smiled as her mate and son nuzzled. She rested her forehead on Strider's. "Don't ever leave. It broke my heart" she cried.

"I won't. That's a promise" Strider said, licking her cheeks. "Daddy, look" Spirit called, standing on his back legs and rearing. "Very good, Spirit" Strider smiled at his son. The herd smiled when they saw Strider and welcomed him home.

"Thank you" he smiled. Night fell and the herd fell asleep. Spirit was sleeping next to his Esperanza and she smiled before sleeping. Strider smiled at the sight and fell asleep next to his family.
