sunkit felt his small body tense up as he crouched, aiming for the small moss ball at his father's paws.

ferntalon rolled it back and forth, watching carefully as sunkit and his littermates snuck up.

sunkit couldnt let his sisters get it first! he had to show how good he was at this game, especially if his father was playing.

sunkits tail swished in the air as he slowly crept closer, a tail length in front of swaykit. her light brown paws were silent as the hit the ground, and her bushy tail was slightly above the ground.

sunkit huffed as he got faster, desperate to beat them. he heard a yowl and noticed a white she kit with brown spots lunging towards it.

this is it! this is the time!

sunkit threw himself off the ground, getting a better leap then his sister, and landing on the moss ball a second before his sister landed on top of him.

"not fair! i jumped first!" flowerkit yowled, sitting down and sticking her head high in the air. sunkit ran up to her and nuzzled her.

"im sorry, flowerkit. maybe we can go play another game?" sunkit purred, licking his sister's ear.

she jumped up and ran off to a small rock outside the nursery and leaped onto it.

swaykit and lightkit ran after her, and ripplekit, wrenkit, and sparrowkit ran over from the prey pile.

sunkit looked at his father. his light brown tabby pelt was well groomed and smoothed down, no hair out of place. his bright green eyes glowed with happiness as he watched his kits.

ferntalon noticed sunkit looked and smiled. "go play, sunkit. ill be right here."

sunkit nodded and smiled, running after his littermates. flowerkit was still standing on the rock.

"my name is flowerstar, commander of turtleclan!" she yowled, her high pitched voice ringing around camp.

sunkit jumped onto the rock, landing besides her.

"and im sunclaw, best advisor ever!" he called, his long whiskers quivering in excitement. he looked down at ripplekit, her dark gray and white fur sticking up excitedly as she crouched, ready to jump up.

but out of no where, goldenkit jumped up, her fluffy golden pelt ruffled, as if she just woke up.

"and im goldenheart! im the second best advisor!" she said, laughing as she looked at sunkit.

sunkit laughed and jumped up and down. "me and goldenheart will pick the rest of the advisors!" he commanded.

flowerkit gave him a stern look. "but im the commander!" she yelped.

goldenkit turned to flowerkit. "actually, advisors decide everything. cloudydune gets to pick who the next advisor would be if someone died." goldenkit mewed, turning to sunkit for back up.

sunkit nodded. "remember flowerkit? ferntalon was the one who chose cloudydune as an advisor!" he exclaimed, raking his green gaze across camp.

the caves were a bit cold today. the cave was often cold, though, so the little tom was used to it.

sunkit smiled as he spotted firelight walking back into the caves, carrying a small fish from the ocean.

sunkit jumped off of the rock and ran to his mother excitedly, covering her in licks.

firelight laughed and put the fish on the ground. "hey, sunkit! what were you playing?"

he smiled and puffed out his chest. "my name is sunclaw, advisor of turtleclan." he meowed.

firelight giggled and shooed him off. "go back and play. im going on a border patrol soon."

sunkit walked away sadly. why was she always joining patrols when she could be playing with him? whatever, he didnt need her.

he trotted back over to the rock and jumped on.

bunnykit and wrenkit were sitting up there now. sunkit bunched his muscles and jumped back up.

flowerkit stared grumpily at goldenkit. "i am supposed to choose!" she squeaked, her amber eyes glowering at the fluffy golden kit.

goldenkit shrugged and turned to sunkit. "you get to pick the other advisor!" she meowed excitedly, turning and staring straight at ripplekit. "and i bet you choose her!"

heat rushed to the yellow tabbys face as goldenkit wraggled her eyebrow at him.

"so what! shes my friend." he huffed. "i choose rippletalon!"

of course he knew what her name was going to be. they talked about it all the time. sunclaw and rippletalon, the iconic advisor duo!

ripplekit smiled and excitedly hopped up. she turned to sunkit. "yay!" she shrieked, looking out across camp.

she nudged sunkit and pointed at deerleap.

"im going to be strong and brave like her someday!" she exclaimed, he tail waving happily in the air.

"don't be silly, ripplekit!" he said, laughing, "you already are! your actually better than her!" he meowed happily.

ripplekit sat up a bit higher and smiled. "thank you, sunkit! but i know i can be better!"

he smiled and shrugged. "if you put your mind to it, then yeah! that's what papa always tells me."

he looked around and spotted ferntalon right away. he was talking with the other advisors, theres head in a tight circle.

he wanted that someday. he wanted to be important. he wanted to join those advisors and do something nice for the clan.

make a change.

and that was when the small kit made a promise to himself.

i promise to change this clan... to become someone special. the talk of the clan. i want to have a big family, where they can also be special. and i will get there. i know i can.
