Chapter 14: Some Little Things
Draco and Hadrian sat peacefully in their compartment, each with a book on his lap. After they got on the Hogwarts Express, they headed straight towards the Malfoy's private compartment and had been there ever since. Draco mentioned some friends of his would probably strolled by, but they hadn't heard knockings or footsteps nearby. It was completely silent.
- Hey Dray?
- Yes, Hadri? - Draco answered, looking up from his book. He had come up with a nickname for Hadrian because "Hadrian" sounded very formal, and he didn't like that. They were friends, and friends were supposed to be close.
- Why is it so quiet outside? I thought the train was very crowded. - The ravenette questioned. It wasn't normal. Children at his age wouldn't be this quiet. They would be energetic, talkative and sometimes a bit noisy, but he could endure it. But this silence wasn't what he could stand.
- I don't know. Maybe they have all gathered to The Saviour's compartment. - Draco drawled at the title. How he despised that girl. Being chosen for an important mission, and all she did was acting like a queen, all high-and-mighty. How pitiful.
- I still feel there is something wrong. Maybe I'm mistaken. - Hadrian shrugged his shoulders. - Anyways, what are you reading?
- "Advancements in Potion Making", it's actually quite good.
- Can I read it with you? I just finished "The Basics of Herbology" and want to change the subject. - Hadrian smiled sheepishly.
- Sure, - Draco smiled and patted the spot next to him, - come here.
Just as Hadrian sat down next to Draco, there was a knock on the door.
Both boys looked at each other, surprised. Who could it be?
Another knock was sounded but there was no question. No calls.
- This is starting to get weird. - Hadrian mumbled. He drawed out his wand from his pocket, ready to act. He carefully glanced to his side and saw Draco doing the same.
- Is it normal to knock on people's compartments and not say anything? - Hadrian asked mockingly.
- No, so we are going to find out who is behind all of this ruckus and hex them into obliviation. - Draco sneered. They were taught some spells to protect themselves, and they wouldn't hesitate to use them.
Draco tiptoed to the compartment door and gently put his hand on the handle while Hadrian took his place opposite the blond. He mouthed quietly: "Three, two, one."
And he pulled.
Draco quickly put his leg out to trip dark figure in the hallway while Hadrian rushed forward, silently casting a "Petrificus Totalus". The figure fell down instantly, and they realized it was the highly-celebrated Chosen One.
- Potter, what are you doing here? - Draco sneered. - Are you here to flirt me? I must say my status and visage do tempt a considerable number of nobles, but it can't have the same effects on you?
Juliet stared at Draco virulently, her brown eyes were fuming with anger while she tried to talk back. Unfortunately for her the spell Hadrian had casted was so powerful that she couldn't do anything.
Draco smiled maliciously:
- Oh, trying to find an excuse, are you? Don't be, I know I have a lot of admirers, and you are simply one of them. They try to sneak in here sometimes, just to get some privacy time with me, but you don't have to, o Chosen One. I will announce your affections for me to the world so you don't have to maintain this secrecy.
Hadrian laughed his heart out while observing Draco's strange "conversation" with his twin sister. He saw him walked gracefully out of the compartment and pointed his wand to his throat. Draco spoke, and Hadrian swore the blond's voice had just got louder:
- Dearest friends, I have something important to announce. The respected Chosen One had developed affections for the noble Malfoy heir. Please kindly assist the Golden Girl in her attempts of courting me. Thank you for your attention.
He removed the wand from his neck and pointed at the red-haired girl: "Wingardium Leviosa", he muttered and the girl floated, making it easier for him to get rid of the "obstacle". He ruthelessly dumped the girl on the floor and slammed the door shut. He waved his wand a few times and the air wavered, signaling the wards had been put up.
- There, - he dusted his hand as if he had touched something vile, - that's going to ward of pesky pests and direct them towards that annoying little brat.
Hadrian chuckled:
- Okay, now come here, you owe me a book and a nice hug.
Draco smirked:
- I didn't say I was going to hug you.
- But I want one. - Hadrian pouted. - I'm tired and I really need a hug.
Looking at Hadrian's emerald eyes, Draco sighed and shook his head:
- How can you be so cute? - He mumbled quietly under his breath.
- Huh? Did you say something, Dray?
- Nothing, just saying how irritating that Potter girl was.
Draco gracefully walked towards Hadrian and set himself down comfortably next to the ravenette. He gently put an arm around the smaller boy and pulled him into his embrace. Said boy sighed contentedly and slowly drifted off to sleep.
- Silly Hadri. - Draco smiled, touching the other boy's nose and carefully laid his head on his lap. He loved to see Hadrian being calm and cozy like this. The innocent boy deserved to be loved, and damn to those who thought the opposite. He quickly breathed in and out, trying to calm his bubbling anger. Not now, not when Hadrian was sleeping. The ravenette didn't have enough sleep when all his nightmares were after him, and this was one of those rare times that he could rest properly.
Draco quickly snatched the book he was reading, trying very hard to distract himself. He calmingly threaded his hands through Hadrian's black hair, relaxing at the silky feeling. He kept that position for another hour before he, too, fell asleep.

Hours later, Draco suddenly woke up. He sleepily glanced out of the window, just to see the outskirts of a magnificent castle.
- We're here. - He mumbled.
He looked down and found Hadrian still in deep slumber. Draco sighed and gently shook the sleeping boy awake:
- Hadrian? Hadrian, wake up, we're here.
Hadrian dreamily rubbed his eyes and yawned:
- Already? I was having a good dream.
- I know sleepy head, but we haven't dressed yet. Now get up and changed. We'll be there soon and I don't want to be late.
Hadrian grumbled in agreement and quietly changed into his school robes. Once they were done, the train slowed down and pulled into its station. Both boys quickly got down the train, right before the flock of students came rushing out. They caught a glimpse of Juliet and her minions, a redhead boy and a curly blond girl. Seemed like the group saw them too as they approached them immediately.
- So, Malfoy, what are you doing with Julie's brother? Trying to pull him to the Dark side with you? - The redhead asked tauntingly.
Draco just smirked:
- Hm, red hair, freckles, and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley. My father always says the Weasleys have too much children than they can afford. I had never really believed him until now. What a shame. - He shook his head regretfully.
The redhead, Weasley, seemed to have lost his temper. He shouted at Draco:
- Why you little slimy-
Just then, an enormous figure stood in front of Weasley:
- Ron, don' talk ter other students like that! Yeh'll make a mess!
Juliet popped in:
- But Hagrid, they insulted him first! - she huffed.
- Now, Julie, don' start a fight. I don' want anyone to get in trouble. 'Tis almost time, let's hurry. FIRS' YEARS, FIRS' YEARS FOLLOW ME!!! - The giant shouted, raising a light by his side. He secretly winked at Hadrian and led them away from the train station.
As they were following Hagrid, Draco whispered to Hadrian:
- Hadri, you know the halfbreed?
Hadrian shook his head:
- I never met him before, but strangely there is something familiar about him. Who is he anyway?
- Rubeus Hagrid. He's the gamekeeper around here, or a more flashy title is Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. You're familiar with him? - Draco questioned.
- I can't put my finger on it. While my head is screaming I don't know him, part of my memory says otherwise.
Draco gently rubbed the boy's back:
- Don't worry, I'm sure you will figure this out.
Hadrian smiled in response and followed the giant figure to the lake, where countless little boats were waiting patiently for the students to climb in. It was quite noisy, and Hagrid had to speak louder so everyone could hear him. They were going in groups of four, and as the two boys were wondering who they would bring along, a hand tapped Draco's shoulder:
- Draco, why didn't you come to Blaise's compartment to sit with us? I thought we had a deal.
An annoyed girl looked at Draco questioningly. To Hadrian, no offense intended, she had a face like a pug. Her big dark eyes were very noticeable, and her medium-length dark hair fell gracefully on her shoulder. Standing next to her was a lazy-looking quite handsome black boy. His brown eyes flashed mischievous looks towards Hadrian so frequently that he had to step behind Draco.
Draco sneered at the girl:
- I should ask you the same question. I thought I had made it clear that I want you two to go to MY compartment. Are you forgetting who I am, Parkinson?
The girl froze and bit her lip, hard. The black boy laughed:
- I told you so, Pans, but you just don't know when to stop. Don't overthink anything, will you?
He stepped to stand between Draco and the girl, smiling at the blond's direction:
- Nice to see you again, Dray. Everything okay?
- Couldn't have been better. - Draco smirked. - And there is someone I want to introduce.
The blond gently pulled Hadrian from behind his back and put the ravenette in front of him.
- This is Harry Potter. Harry, these are my friends: Pansy Parkinson, and Blaise Zabini.
As Draco was saying, he gestured towards the other two. Blaise smiled:
- Nice to meet you, Potter.
- Please, call me Harry. - Hadrian, who now had to bear with the name "Harry" for a while, answered shyly.
However, Pansy just nodded her head solemnly and turned to one of the boats, not waiting for Harry's response. Blaise just shrugged his shoulders:
- You'll get used to it, Harry.
Draco chimed in:
- He's right, Had-Harry. You did nothing wrong. She is just angry that I yelled at her.
The three walked quickly to the boat Pansy was occupying and sat down. She took a glance at Harry and turned away, not saying anything.
Harry was terrified, for Merlin's sake. He didn't say a word, and the girl just stormed off like he had offended her or stolen her boyfriend. He nervously looked around, trying to find some peace in the landscape.
Draco, noticing Harry's small problem, wrapped his arms around the smaller boy's shoulder and pulled him close. He whispered:
- Hey, don't worry. Everything is going to be alright. I'm here.
Harry turned and smiled at the blond. Although his head was still spinning with millions of questions but he decided to leave them behind. After all, it was his first time going to a wizardry school, best to leave his worries behind for a while.
Just then, Hagrid's booming voice rang in Harry's ears:
- Everyone in?...Right then - FORWARD!
The fleet of little boats moved all at once, gliding across the smooth glassy lake. Everyone was silent, even the chattering on Juliet's boat quietened down as they all stared up at the great castle overhead. Harry heard Draco whispered to himself:
- Hogwarts.
~💙💜❤~
Hello dear readers, I'm back!! I don't have much to tell you, but thank you for being so supportive of my story. I had a wonderful Lunar New Year, travelling from the seas to the mountains. It was spectacular.
I'm having my holiday prolonged because of coronavirus in my country. A few cases have shown up and the number is going to increase anytime soon, I think. So I am "locked up" in my house, having nothing to do except writing and doing maths and thinking about what to do in the future :))) Hope you guys stay healthy and alert ;))
But there is something that is worth celebrating: BTS' comeback!! 😆🤗 So exciting!!! But it's a shame that I don't have enough money to buy their album 😭 So sad 😥 But thankfully watching their MVs is enough for me, I can still see their handsome visage ☺️🤩
I'll just leave these here, and sneak out. Have a great day!!! 🤗💜
