─── 🦇 MICHAELA 'MIC' REID WAS RAISED IN A HOUSEHOLD THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED ANYTHING BUT NORMAL. From the time her fine motor skills developed, she was taught how to properly grip a dagger and a wooden stake. Her parents always told stories of scary monsters that would come to drain your life force if you left your window open at nighttime and didn't take the proper precautions. As a child, these stories were enough for her to string garlic around her bedframe and seal the entrances to her room.

As Michaela got older, she gradually began to think of her parents' warnings as silly bedtime stories and let go of the reins she had around precautions and safety rules.

Until one night, 11-year-old Michaela heard a noise in the kitchen and peeked around the corner of her parent's home only to find their blood decorating the floral print on their walls and a dark figure wiping the crimson red from his lips.

As she was carried away in the arms of her older sister, fleeing into the night, Michaela vowed to make sure that would be the last family home to be painted red ever again.

i've wanted to redo the layout on this story for so long. this book and characters are the loves of my life and deserved better than that half assed intro chapter i had previously. Also, as a psa, michaela isnt always going to be likeable!! Her decisions arent always rational bc neither is her situation. This doesn't go just for her either, all of the characters are going to annoy you at times bc that's just how it's going to be, so if you want a mary-sue perfect mc, this aint for you.
