Chapter 10

-Cyrus's P.O.V.-

Darn it. I promised myself that I wouldn't loose her again.

But here I go again. I lost her. Darn it. I should've figured that out. I knew it. I could have prevented this... Too many coincidences, that had to have been the portal that I went through. But, now as it is... If I remember correctly, I was branded a traitor by my own family...

I can't just waltz back around my homeland without being spotted. I'd be beheaded when we'd get back to the castle.

I thought for a moment... Wait, how much stuff has happened in the past 8 years? How's Father? Xander? Or any of my family and friends? Now that I think about it, the only friends I had was MIranda... And...

What was his name? Dylan? Cameron? Zach? Ethan? Quinton? Oh... Wait, it was Cody. Yeah, the short, sassy, cocky kid named Cody Worton.

I haven't seen him in years... I wonder...

I reached into my tunic, looking for my item. I pulled it out, a small, wooden, circular pendant that had a curved line through the center. In one half, it was scorched all over except for a small section near the bottom, while the other side was the exact opposite- raw all over except for a scorched spot near the top.

I smiled... Cody always told me that if I wanted to talk to him, bring the pendant into a pub called the Roble de Casa.

I let out a heavy sigh and decided to head there. I walk for a long distance, until I saw the sun begin to rise... Well, suns.

I raised a hand to block out the sunlight blinding my eyes, walking at a faster pace, continuing to walk north. If I was ever going to find Miranda, then my best shot was Cody.

Cody always used to boast as to how well he could find items, so as a challenge, I told him that Miranda would have one hour to run and hide, and that he had to find her within three hours.

Surprisingly, he found her in an hour and five minutes. I don't know how he did it, but he did it.

I ran on for hours, constantly stopping underneath the tall abeto rojo trees, to cool off from the dual suns' radiant, humid heat.

I felt the sweat beads cling to my skin, causing me to rip off parts of the sleeves of my tunic.

After what seemed like hours, I finally came across the Rio del Norte. Gasping from dehydration, I sprinted to the thankfully, still clean river. I cupped my hands to the river, scooping up the water, I raised my hands to my lips as I drank plenty of water. I continued to splash water into my face, cooling it off.

I brought out my canteen, rinsed it out thoroughly, and filled it to the brim with clean, cool water.

I smiled widely. I never would've thought that I would've made it this far. Thankfully, there aren't too many people in the vicinity, so I guess I could stay the night.

As I continued to sit on the riverbank, watching the sun set, I was too distracted to hear a sword being drawn out. I never noticed until I felt it's tip press against my spine.

"Well, well,well... I never expected a catch to be this easy." a voice shot out of the dark. I turned around quickly.
