Chapter 23

-Mark P.O.V.-

It didn't take long before the trio had my arms over their shoulders (namely Mason and Wilder) as they took me back into the camp grounds. Of course, since I didn't necessarily have any feeling in my legs I just dangled there for a while, hoping for the throbbing pain to disappear as I felt my eyelids drop.

"Miranda..." I murmured, and that was the last thing I remember saying before I fell unconscious.

I guess that I was fortunate enough, because my dreams were cleared of any and all nightmares and dreams. And unfortunately, that also meant my Visions as well. I didn't know what to think about the entire situation with my loss of Vision perception.

I opened my eyes, gazing into the surroundings, to which was well cleaned for an abode, but the room was rather small. But what had surprised me was the fact that there was another presence in the room, which put me on guard.

I looked over to see Mikayla, sitting next to the bed, her back rested against the wall as she slept against it. And that was when I realized that it was nightfall. The lamps were out, and the abode was silent as the long hours went by. After a while of laying down in the bed, I managed to fall asleep once more, to which I was glad for, as I found myself to be extremely tired and out of it.

I then woke up once again. I looked around, nobody to be seen. Mikayla must've left within the hours I was slumbering. I smiled, and heaved out a sigh. I remembered how I got here, in the abode of Pepe, the Rainbow Road's sage, the man Cyrus said to show the sword to...

That's right! The sword! I turned to the side to find the sword leaning against the wall, it's blade glaring into my eyes, causing me to blink rapidly. "Where exactly am I..." I questioned, my attention being brought back to reality.

"I see you are awake." came a new voice. I turned my head slightly to see Mikayla standing in the doorway nonchalantly, her gaze fixed on me.

"Somewhat at least." I replied.

"How do you feel?" She walked to where I was resting, and pulled the chair over so that she could sit in the chair facing towards the bed.

"Eh, I could be better than what I am feeling at the moment." I chuckled nervously, and she just stared blankly at me. "Sorry... I shouldn't have joked about that so casually."

"No. It's fine, really"

"Hello kiddos!" came another voice, and Pepe walked inside the room, a bowl of something in his hand, "I brought Mark- Oh, and speak of the devil he's awake!" He stopped next to the bed, and handed me the bowl. "Eat." he ordered.

I complied. And as I was eating, Pepe leaned forward a bit as he asked "Why do you have that sword? And why are you here?"

I finished the bit of what seemed to be porridge in my mouth before answering. "Pepe, we need your help."

"Well young man, what is it that you seek?"
