I slowly start to regain consciousness. I feel pine needles against my face and smelled tree sap in the air. I open my eyes to see that I am 50 feet (~15 meters) up in the air. I look up to see that I am hanging by my shirt. "Very funny" I said sarcastically to no one in particular. I could use my power to get down, but I don't exactly trust this new place yet.

I look up at the sky to see that dawn has just broke. So, after untangling my shirt from the branch, I start my descent downwards, carefully picking branches to land on. Halfway down I land on a branch, and it snaps sending me spiraling towards the ground. I yelp and grab another branch. Luckily, this one held my weight. I look up and see that I have fallen 12 feet. I continue on my way down without any problems. When I get low enough I jump down, landing on my feet amongst the pine needles that littered the ground.

Someone calls out, "Who are you?"

I whip around to see three teenagers standing in a tight triangle formation right behind me. A boy in the front and one girl and boy in the back. The one in the front of the triangle formation is anticipating my response with a defensive glare. He and the girl seem posed for a fight, the other boy does not. He actually has his hands in his pockets and looks bored.

"I could ask you the same", I say, and subtly hide my hand with the bracelet behind my back.

"Don't make me knock you out" he growls. I decide to analyze him more, he has blue eyes and orange hair. He wears blue jeans and a dark blue hoodie which definitely is not the right clothes for the hot weather. He also has worn down running shoes.

"You couldn't if you tried", I retorted

Before he could react, the girl grabs his arm. "Jayden, don't", she says.

"Fine", Jayden huffs and pushes her off. He spun around and walks the other way. Soon he is out of sight, concealed by the trees. The girl and other boy watch him go. Then they turn back to me.

The girl wears a white t-shirt covered in graffiti, as well as leather leggings. She has army boots and had her hair pulled back in a ponytail. "I'm Mandrin", she says. Her cold eyes, along with her stern face, which shows no emotion, unnerves me. I hope someone would break the silence that is settling over the conversation. The other boy looks at me, "I’m Akira, nice to meet you", he says. He has grey, medium-length hair with yellow cat shaped eyes. He wears a black unzipped bomber jacket with a grey long sleeve shirt underneath. Also, he has beige cargo pants and black sneakers.

"Great, now who are you?" Mandrin demands. Her eyes looks at me coldly, craving my response.

"Syft", I say vaguely.

She nods and says, "Let's go!" She walks in the direction Jayden stormed off towards. I follow and Akira stays behind me, reminding me that I am at his mercy.

"So, where are we going?" I ask Mandrin. I wait a few minutes but am only greeted with silence.

A few minutes later, I ask Akira the same question, but I am not greeted by the same cold silence.

"To the Hub" he says calmly.

I wait for him to specify what the Hub is but he never does. I assume that it is irrelevant and ask, "Why is Mandrin ignoring me?"

Akira falls silent and picks up a twig, fiddling with it in his hand. Then he answers my question. "Her parents worked in the military. She treats prisoners, like you, as if she was in the military. If you didn't know, prisoners aren't supposed to talk to their... Escorts"

"Where are her parents now?" I ask.

"Dead…. Now hurry up. We're falling behind, " Akira says poking me in the back with the twig.

After that we walk quietly, listening to our footsteps on the fallen leaves and the birds high up in the trees.
