As the battle began, everything happened in a flash. Immediately both of the opposing Pokémon charged straight at pikachu and sylveon. It was a terrifying sight, and at first glance it would've looked like ash and Serena were about to get pummeled. Of course, upon further inspection, it was obvious that it was nothing but that. The water fighting frog and fire dog were one dimensional. Anyone with any battling experience would be fine. Of course, these two probably only fought others with that same mindset.
     The attach exploded in a cloud of dust, as the two Pokémon cane crashing into sylveon and pikachu. Or, at least where they used to be. The two Pokémon were now above the big brutes that had charged them. The crowd, seeing two of their most prided battlers completely whiff an attack, were astounded. The kalos queen was accomplished, sure, but they never saw her as a battler. And along with that, a random boy! This was unheard of.
     "Hyper voice, NOW!" Serena yelled, pulling ash back into reality. "Pikachu, thunderbolt!" He commanded. The two attacks collided, merging into one, and flying straight at their opponents. "You may be quick, BUT THATS ALL YOU ARE!" One of the noblemen they were battling yelled out, and the two commanded their Pokémon to resume the charge. This time, though, as the dust settlers, it was clear who got the better end of the exchange, as the arcanine and polywrath lay knocked out on the floor.
     "The battle is over, Ash and Serena are the winners!" The crowd erupted. They may have been cheering for the losers, but they still loved an underdog story.
     Afterwards Serena was escorted backstage by security. Ash, then, was left alone to describe the tails of the battle to the people eagerly waiting. Of course, ash couldn't just say that he battled two blundering idiots (even if that's what they were), so he really didn't know what to say. Luckily his friend Gary was there to make up and share how ash and Serena planned their brilliant battle strategy before the match.
     While Gary was showing off for his friend, ash took this time to run off somewhere quiet. This whole event was really chaotic conspired to normal life in palet. Ash hung around the edges of the venue, as everyone else crowded in the middle. Looking around he saw the same door he had gone through to meet Serena open up. A man walked out.
The man was wearing a black and white suit, but not like a security guard, no, something else. Ash couldn't quite put his finger on it. "Enough time for squabbling, we must continue on" the man said, directing two teams up on to the stage. 'He must be the director, or something' ash thought as these battles continued on.
The competitors mostly knew nothing about how to actually battle, and those who did have knowledge easily swept through the competition. Serena being kalos queen, her team got a by through this round. In fact, if the two of them won the next battle, they would be in the finals. 'Bring it on' thought ash.
