Goodnight.

It has been a great day.

Your legs idly swaying in the air as you observe the pink sky ahead, every now and then taking subtle little side glances at your date as he finishes the last of his ice cream, it's the only thing you got to pay for during your time with him.

You brought it while he was smoking a cigarette after watching the animals, you had noticed an ice cream vendor a short distance away and told the blonde that you were going to the bathroom so you could surprise him on your return with the pleasant treat, since he was so happy when speaking about getting ice cream with his younger brother before.

Of course, he also had a surprise for you, whilst you were waiting in line to buy him the ice cream, he had noticed a little blue plush elephant in the gift shop and decided to purchase it for you - mainly because you expressed to him how much you liked the gentle giants during the holographic performance.

It would seem great minds think alike.

But sadly, you have work in less than an hour so you must leave once you're done on this Ferris wheel, since the sun was beginning to set you both agreed going on the ferris wheel was a must.

His brown eyes observing the lights below as he finishes off the last of his cone, you decide that since he's such an open book, it'd be a good time to learn more about him.

"What's the best thing you've ever done?" He doesn't seem too surprised by your sudden question, likely becoming used to this little quirk of yours as his stare finally meets your own, his brow raised as he seemingly takes a second to think.

"The best? Hm...well, I'm proud of a few things but my best is probably adopting Law, that boy went through a lot of things as a kid." He confesses, still appearing somewhat thoughtful as he reverses the inquiry. "What about you? What's the best thing you've ever done?"

His question brings a subtle grin to your features as you try to think of something, he seems so genuinely interested in you, something that's very unique - even when guys had liked you in the past, they've still seemed focused mainly on themselves.

This man is very different to them.

"Well, taking in a homeless woman is probably the kindest thing I've done as of late." Your answer making the blonde giggle to himself but he does nod his head in agreement however. "What about the worst thing?"

It's that question that stumps him somewhat, his eyes seemingly distant as he turns his stare back out toward the sky, a low hum rumbling in this throat as he silently thinks to himself for a moment.

"Well...I'd say spilling coffee on a homeless woman was quite cruel." The blonde jests softly, his answer actually making you chuckle as a slight heat begins to spread across your cheeks as you recall yelling at the poor man and his brother, his voice soon falls more serious though as he leans back into the seat as the wheel begins to turn again, slowly taking you both back down. "If we're talking seriously though; I did steal food and clothing a lot as child."

That sentence draws you in, your brows furrowing in confusion as you blurt a low 'huh?' in response to his claim.

"It was before I got adopted, Doffy and I were living on the streets and we were cold...and starving." You don't miss the slight hesitation in Rosinante's voice as he speaks, the shame clear as day on his face. "I was caught shoplifting eventually and taken to the police station, Sengoku was the officer who interviewed me and...well, upon finding out I was an orphan, he took me in."

So that's how it happened...

"What about Doflamingo?"

"He wasn't interested, he had already been accepted into a gang by that time so they were his family, as far as he was concerned. He still has love for me since I'm blood and I've never wronged him, but he has no respect or love for Sengoku, or for any policeman for that matter."

The more time you spend with this man, the more you learn about him, simply just nodding your head in understanding whilst fiddling with the elephant in your hands - admittedly you're not sure how to respond to such information.

"Do you think he would've still loved you if you were a cop?" For once you're reluctant to ask such a question, you push a lot of boundaries with this man but perhaps questioning his bond with his brother is too far.

"Hm...no, because if I were a cop, I'd want people to feel safe around me so I wouldn't abuse my position and I sure as hell wouldn't be corrupt." Something about that tugs at your heartstrings, you can tell that when he says these things, he's being genuine.

He has a true desire to protect people, possibly because he wasn't protected as a child?

You're not sure, but this man definitely has a heart of pure gold.

It's a shame he didn't get the job.

"For what it's worth, you would have been such an amazing cop." You finally murmur, watching as the blonde's cheeks flush and his smile grows before he attempts to hide it with his hand.

What a cutie.

"Would you like me to walk you to work?" He questions once the wheel stops, a worker lifting the bar and allowing you both out before rotating the wheel a little more to get to the next customer.

"If you want, don't feel obligated though." You may be wearing a sweet and innocent smile but little to this man's knowledge, you carry mace and you'll happily use it on anybody who poses a threat to you, not that there are many threats in this town.

Most crimes are caused by business, rivalries and petty criminals doing a bit of vandalism and burglary in order to look cool. Thankfully there isn't many attacks on women around here though.

Of course, even despite this, Rosinante still takes you to work.

Better safe than sorry, you presume.

But you don't mind.

The blonde stopping once outside the bar and giving you a gentle hug, upon returning the affectionate gesture, you feel his muscles tensing underneath his jumper - the poor man clearly doesn't quite know how to say goodbye after a date.

So you decide to lead, slightly tightening the hug while muffling into his shoulder "Thank you, this was fun! Call me when you wanna hang out again, okay?" You can practically feel his entire body heating up at your words as he shyly nods his head, his cheeks bright red as you pull away to look him in the eyes.

"Bye, Rosinante." Leaning in, you press a light peck to his cheek, since he's clearly nervous you decide going easy on him would be the best cause of action.

However as you turn to enter the bar, he grabs your wrist, tugging you back toward him and wrapping his arms loosely around your waist. Hesitation is still clear in his eyes, obviously he isn't sure if he is pushing boundaries or not but if he were, you'd let him know.

A small smirk spreading across your lips as he leans in, his mouth mere inches from your own and breath lightly fanning your face, seemingly still testing until you finally close the space - a warmth spreading throughout your entire body as your lips capture his, your arms slowly sliding around his neck as his hands rest on your hips, the kiss is slow and steady but also passionate.

His breath tasting of smoke and ice cream and his lips feeling surprisingly soft but also warm and welcoming, you request entry first, running your tongue softly along his lower lip and immediately he grants it but shockingly puts up a bit of a fight for dominance.

Sadly he's first to pull away however when the pub door swings open, a drunk whistling at you both before his friend drags him away, politely apologizing for the disturbance but at least it brings you back to reality.

Your shift will be starting any second now so peeling yourself away from the handsome blonde, you finally bid him goodnight, promising to text him when you're home so he at least knows you got there safely before rushing inside.

This may just be the best date you've ever had.
