Get The Drinks In.

Your anxieties slowly begin to relax as you make your way to the pub, you've no longer got the necklace in your pocket and you doubt that the sleeping person saw you, considering they were under the duvet.

Repeatedly reminding yourself of these small facts soon pays off as you reach the doors leading into the bar, your nerves feeling somewhat more steady. There's a couple of men smoking their cigarettes outside; one of them is a regular named Benn Beckman but the other male is one that you haven't been introduced to quite yet, a blonde young man with swirly eyebrows, his eyes seemingly glimmering as they land upon you.

"Well, hello there, beauti--!"

"Leave her alone." Benn calmly grumbles over the young boy's flattery, his expression seemingly as indifferent as ever while he casually nods his head at you in silent greeting, allowing you to pass by them without any further interruptions and make your way inside.

You don't know Mr. Beckman personally but you've seen him around the market, apparently he works on the docks.

Nice guy...I hope I never have to screw him over.

Upon entering the pub, you finally take a deep breath before releasing it. The calm lighting and music in here is always so welcoming and soothing, it has a tendency to make you forget your worries and on top of it all is the sight of your boss, the redhead is sat at the bar and tucking into a small plate of food, you can vaguely make out the pint of beer in a glass sat beside the meal also.

Making your way over, you slip yourself onto the barstool beside him, earning a somewhat annoyed grunt as he raises his stare to meet yours.

"Hey, I don't want any compan--oh. It's you." And just like that, he shrugs off whatever it was that he was going to say and resumes eating his meal, completely ignoring the mildly playful pout you're giving him.

"I'm doing fine, thanks for asking." You sarcastically murmur, gaining yourself a disinterested hum as the brute polishes off the last of his food, dropping the knife and fork down on the plate before pushing it across the wood of the bar for the bartender to take whenever he's ready.

The only time Kid ever buys anything, it's from this pub, maybe because it's harder to steal beer and cooked meals than jewellery and clothes.

You can't help but contemplate the fiery redhead however, his golden eyes are seemingly focused on the beer inside his glass as his painted fingernails tap against the rim, a slight frown etched into his features; he looks so thoughtful for once.

He's actually quite beautiful up close...despite his temper.

"What are you staring at?" The admittedly handsome man finally asks after a moment, the words seemingly just drifting from his lips but his stare never leaves his drink. "Did you come here for something in particular?"

"O-Oh, yeah! I did!" You can't help but silently scold yourself for stuttering a little before swiftly pulling yourself together and offering him a somewhat forced smile as you continue. "I want a raise for a certain job I did today!" Your request seems to draw in Kid's gaze at least, a low 'hm?' sounding from his painted lips as his orbs shift to find yours, clearly asking you to elaborate. "Trafalgar Law's ruby necklace?"

A slight irritation takes over his features at the mere mention of the surgeon's name and his eyes darkening a little. "I didn't give you such a job." He coldly states before finishing off his beer, his attention darting over to the bartender and gesturing for 2 more drinks with his fingers. "Not yet, anyway."

"Killer told me about it," You quietly admit, instinctively peeking over your shoulder to make sure no customers are listening in before you begin ruling off the details. "A golden necklace, red ruby--"

"Did you get it?" The redhead interrupts you as the bartender approaches with a beer in each hand, placing them down on the wood and accepting the coins from Kid before rushing off to the other end of the bar to serve somebody else.

"Yes, nobody warned me that he had a dog though."

"Oh yeah, Beepo or somethin' like that. Did you have to hurt it?"

"I think it's name was Bep--NO! I DIDN'T HURT IT! WHAT KIND OF MONSTER DO YOU TAKE ME FOR?!"

Your outburst only grants you a glare from your boss, his teeth noticeably gritting as a low 'Shut up' escapes through them, his fiery stare shifting toward the customers that are brave enough to watch on curiously, of course they immediately turn their attention elsewhere the second Kid looks at them.

Oops...

Once he feels secure enough, the redhead simply sighs, relaxing himself into the stool as he chugs down his beer before speaking again. "Killer shouldn't have given you the job without my permission, I wanted to get the house mapped out before sending you in there."

"Well, he asked me to keep in mind the layout so you can draw a map for future preference...if that helps?" For some reason, your piece of information only gets an annoyed huff from Kid, his frown deepening as he thoughtfully nibbles on his thumb nail.

"There's no point in mapping it out now that the robbery has already been finished."

Well, he's in a delightful mood tonight, as usual...

The redhead soon cracks a confident grin though, bringing his glass to his lips and gulping down the rest of his beer briskly before slamming the empty glass back down on the bar, once again signalling for a refill.

Damn, I haven't even started on my beer yet!

"So, you want a raise for a successful job?"

"Mhm..."

"We'll see how much the necklace is worth then talk about your cut."

You avoid responding as the bartender comes over, granting Kid his requested refill before he leaves again, your cheeky smile now spreading across your lips as you finally begin to sip the beer that Kid had bought for you.

"By the way, Trafalgar wasn't at work like they promised he would be so I think I deserve the extra cash." Your subtle comment causes Kid to inhale the beer rather than drink it, a small gurgle catching your ears before he sprays whatever was left in his mouth across the bar, a cough rumbling in his throat as he pounds a fist to his chest.

"Wh--! What did you just--?!" The redhead stops himself mid-sentence when he realises people are staring once again, causing him to swing around in his stool, just barely managing to bark; "WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?!"

And just like that, every pair of eyes within the building avoids him like the plague, all chatting amongst themselves about the weather and the economy, seemingly just trying their hardest to stay off his bad side.

As charming as ever, Kid.

"Now..." He voices, his tone noticeably calmer this time as he leans in closer to your face so that only you could hear him speak. "That's impossible, we've been watching him all week. He should still be at work even now according to Bonney."

What?

"Are you sure it was him? Did he see you?"

"N-No? He was sleeping under the duvet when I was taking the necklace, only the dog saw me."

Kid's frown only deepens at your words, the confusion on his face is as clear as day.

"When was this?"

Your answer only seems to irritate the redhead, a disgruntled groan escaping him as he runs a pale hand through his wild hair, his golden eyes staring off into the distance in deep thought. "Maybe...it could have been Rocinante, he's like a father to the creep. Maybe he took a nap in his bed."

"Why the hell would he do that?"

"I don't fuckin' know! I don't study Rocinante's business!"

"No, clearly you study manners."

"Hmph." The redhead seemingly ponders back and forth for a moment in deep thought, a groan eventually leaving his lips as he brings his glass up to his mouth. "Well it doesn't matter, so long as he didn't see you."

And with that little bit of closure, you begin to drink your own beer also.

The night moves along pretty smoothly; you get a little drunk whereas Kid handles the alcohol like some sort of human tank, somebody hits on you then gets himself hit in the face by your boss, you dance around the bar a little before you eventually collapse, falling into Kid's side with a giggle.

It's a pleasant night.

"Alright," Eustass voices gruffly as he straights you up a little, wrapping an arm around your waist and walking you toward the pub's exit. "Let's get you home before you hurt yourself."

"Aw, how sweet of you~!" You happily chime, nuzzling yourself into his shoulder, your hands grasping onto his shirt tightly as you clumsily try to walk alongside him, the nighttime air hitting you in the face as get outside. "You care about meee~!"

"Well, you won't be much good to us if you get a broken leg, would ya?"

Ouch.

"Rude~! What's your least favourite song, Eustass?"

Your random question goes unanswered as the cranky brute tries to keep you upright, only grumbling something incoherent to himself when you slouch against his chest, your hand accidentally grasping at his abs through his clothing.

"Oi, are you ignoring me? Euuustaaaass~!"

"I hate anything soppy." He begrudgingly admits, the poor guy still wrestling with your wobbly body as he reaches for the button on the burial vault that leads underground into the sanctuary.

"What about...you are my sunshine~?" All you gain in response to that is a sigh, triggering a giggle from your lips as your arms weakly entwine themselves around his torso, only seemingly making it harder for him to walk properly. "Eustass, you are my sunshine~!"

"Don't--"

"My only sunshine~! You make me happyyy, when skies are grey~!"

"For fuck sake..."

By some miracle, he manages to get you into the base, it would seem that the rest of the gang are in their own quarters though - there's nobody here, not a single soul.

Unless they're all out stealing stuff but that would be highly unlikely.

"You'll never know dear~!" You sing aloud, causing Kid to blush vaguely as he groans in irritation, glancing around to make sure nobody else is listening as he ushers you into your own room. "How much I love you~!"

It's a silent rule in here that girls and high-ranking members of the gang get there own rooms, everyone else shares, so at least you're not waking up your fellow lady thief with your drunken party mode.

Kid effortlessly pushes you down on the bed as you sing away happily to yourself, the male even roughly taking off your shoes and dropping them to the ground as his golden eyes rest on yours, you can almost hear him asking you if you plan on singing all night but you're too busy doing just that to answer him.

"Please don't take my sunshine away~!" You sing with a small giggle in your tone as your hand reaches up to touch Kid's cheek, gently caressing his skin as you grin beneath him, a comforting silence settling in as you lose yourself in his eyes.

He looks so haunted yet so gorgeous at the same time, how is such a thing even possible?

You slowly begin to lean into his beautiful embrace, your lips barely brushing against his but he abruptly pulls away, his hand pushing you down on the bed once again before he hotfoots his way back over to the door, only glancing at you one last time over his shoulder.

"You should get some sleep."

And with that, he leaves you all alone, the door slamming shut behind him as he exits the room.

"I'm not trying to fuck you, lady. You're not my type."

Of course...what did I think was going to happen?
