Chapter 42

Yuri woke up with Jessica's scent still engulfing her senses. It took her a minute to force herself to part from Jessica and pull her arm out from inside the blanket. She turned to the side and grabbed her phone, checking the time.

It was time to get up for work but Yuri absolutely didn't want to. Now that she had gotten Jessica back, it was even harder to part from the girl even just for a few hours. But in the midst of wavering whether or not to stay home for the day, Yuri received a text message from Jiyoung, reminding her about the important meeting with the board that afternoon. Yuri sighed and put her phone aside, turning back to Jessica.

The blonde girl had shifted on the bed when Yuri wasn't paying attention, her face now right in front of Yuri. A smile couldn't be stopped from spreading on Yuri's lips as she looked at the peacefully sleeping face, remembering the many times she had watched Jessica sleep before. Her heart fluttered a little as Jessica's nose crinkled slightly, and Yuri couldn't help but to lean in and give Jessica's soft cheek a small kiss.

"You thief," Jessica mumbled quietly with her eyes still closed, surprising Yuri. "How many kisses are you going to steal from me when I'm asleep, huh?"

Yuri chuckled and propped an elbow against the pillow to support her head, her eyes not leaving Jessica.

"It's not my fault you look so kissable."

Jessica slowly opened her sleepy eyes and met Yuri's face hovering above hers. She stretched out an arm to encircle Yuri's neck and smiled.

"Then at least do it right," Jessica said and pulled Yuri down for a decent good morning kiss.

Just when the kiss was about to get deeper, Yuri's apartment bell rang. The two girls looked at each other, wondering who could be paying a visit at such an early hour.

"You just stay here. Let me check," Yuri grumpily said and jumped out of bed. She made her way to the door and opened it, only to be surprised by the presence of another girl she least expected to see right there, right then.

"Surprise!"

"Yoona!" Yuri hissed in a whisper. "What are you doing here?"

"Unnie! Is this how you welcome me?"

"Jessica is here, stupid! When did you arrive in Korea? Why didn't you tell me?"

The girl named Yoona crossed her arms and pouted.

"I wanted to surprise you. You didn't say your girlfriend was staying with you."

Yuri threw a glance towards the bedroom before turning back to Yoona.

"Look, I'm kinda in the middle of something. How about we meet tomorrow for dinner?"

"Okay." Yoona grinned. "But you have to promise me you will introduce me to her."

"Of course," Yuri said in annoyance and waved her hand, gesturing Yoona to leave. "See you soon."

The younger girl stepped back but didn't forget to put her hand in front of her mouth, letting out a mocking giggle to tease her unnie. Yuri just frowned and waited for Yoona to turn around before closing the door. She gulped and returned to the bedroom, silently hoping the mood wasn't ruined yet.

"Who was it?" Jessica was still lying on the bed, her eyes studying Yuri's expression.

"Hmm…" Yuri scratched her head as she sat down on the bed. "It was no one."

Jessica sat up, her expression darkened.

"I heard a female voice. And you shushed her down." The blonde crossed her arms and turned around to face the other way. "Are you always going to be like this?"

Yuri smiled and inched closer, resting her chin on Jessica's shoulder.

"Are you jealous?"

"It has nothing to do with jealousy. It's all about you not wanting to tell me the truth again."

"Come on, I was just teasing you. I didn't have any bad intention." Yuri pecked Jessica's smooth shoulder. "That girl was Yoona. An acquaintance of mine. You will get to meet her soon." With a small smirk, Yuri backhugged Jessica and added, "I really like her."

"Good for you." Jessica freed herself from Yuri's embrace and feigned irritation. In truth, she had stopped being mad the moment Yuri told her the girl's name. "Who is she though? This Yoona?"

"We will meet her soon. I will tell you later."

"Why not tell me now? She better not be another girl your grandfather wants you to marry."

"Hmmm… maybe she is. Are you gonna be jealous?"

Jessica turned around and received Yuri's full smirk in her face. She frowned and gave Yuri's cheek a light slap, causing it to bounce to the side. The moment it bounced back, Jessica crushed her lips on Yuri's and lay down pulling the taller girl with her, giving Yuri no time to prepare herself. Jessica's tongue slipped past Yuri's lips, initiating the kind of deep and passionate kiss both of them had missed so awfully. Almost immediately, Yuri kissed her back. The tanned girl's patience was beginning to run thin – Jessica could tell by the needy response she was receiving. Even when her phone alerted of a new message, Yuri couldn't take her lips off of Jessica and just stretched a hand out to grab the phone while the other slipped into Jessica's shirt. Yuri's hand moved up to the right places and caused Jessica to gasp and arch her back, digging her fingers into Yuri's skin, overwhelmed by the feeling of pleasure. Yuri continued to nibble on Jessica’s earlobe as she tried her best to open the text in her phone. When she finally succeeded, she stopped abruptly – Jessica was moaning loudly – and Yuri froze to stare at the girl beneath, unsure of what to do.

"I wasn't… you know," Jessica panted as her cheeks went red. "It's just, I—I was missing you so bad."

Yuri smiled. "Me too. You have no idea."

Still embarrassed, Jessica quickly closed the gap between them and rolled Yuri off, reversing their positions. She left Yuri's lips to kiss her face, from cheeks to nose, eyes, chin, and then travelled her lips down Yuri's neck.

"Sica…" Yuri half whispered, half moaned as Jessica's hand went inside her shirt. "I—I have to—"

"It's okay," Jessica said between the kisses. "I know you've been holding back… since yesterday… in the shower… and even when we went to bed…"

Yuri rolled her eyes in pleasure, her poor attempt to push Jessica away turned into needy tugs at the blonde's top. She wanted to say something but all that came out were moans. Jessica, receiving the right signals, stopped the kisses and sat up straight, pulling her own shirt off.

"I'm not stopping you anymore." She cupped Yuri's cheeks and brought the girl's gaze from gluing at her chest back to staring into her eyes. "I want you just as bad. So… just do what you want."

"There are so many things I want to do right now," Yuri huskily whispered against Jessica's lips, a hand of hers acting on its own as it ran up Jessica's bare back, sending shivers down the blonde's spine. But when Jessica leaned down to capture Yuri's lips again, Yuri dodged and sighed.

"My grandfather just texted me, Sica. I can't stay with you today." Yuri sat up and glanced at the phone, Jessica still on her lap. "Fifteen minutes to get ready for work. I can do it if you don't seduce me."

Yuri smiled apologetically, but Jessica frowned and grumbled a simple: "Jerk." The blonde got off of Yuri and went straight out of the bedroom. Yuri knew Jessica wasn't happy that she still chose work over staying with her lover, especially when they were about to have sex and they hadn't had it since months. But Yuri didn't want to risk making her grandfather or Jiyoung get suspicious.

However, after another minute of hesitation, Yuri's eyes landed on Jessica's top that was thrown on the bed earlier. The image of Jessica's naked glory lit up the fire in her again and not very innocent thoughts began to flood her mind. She suddenly felt ridiculously stupid for rejecting a topless Jessica just now. Yuri quickly typed a short reply to her grandfather and made her way out to look for Jessica. She saw the blonde sitting on the top of the counter in the kitchen – a bit sleepy, a bit grumpy, but still topless and oh so very hot.

Seeing Yuri approaching her, Jessica looked away and crossed her arms, thus hiding her assets and causing Yuri to unconsciously lick her lips. Yuri came close and placed her hands on Jessica's thighs, her lips brushing Jessica's ear.

"I don't know what went into my mind just now. I should know I had no chance. You already seduced me." Yuri nibbled Jessica's earlobe lightly. "Is the offer still up? I can do anything I want?"

Jessica pushed Yuri away lightly but she couldn't hide her smile. Yuri, seeing that Jessica wasn't mad anymore, happily leaned in to kiss the girl. But this time, it was Jessica who dodged the kiss.

"Actually, you were right. This can wait." Jessica put her hands around Yuri's neck, her legs opened to let Yuri stand in between. "We have more important things to take care of. You have to act like nothing is wrong, so I can't hold you back at home like this. And we still have to negotiate with the Kims. There isn't much time left."

"Still enough time for a little fun," Yuri said and raised a suggesting eyebrow at Jessica "I will go to the meeting this afternoon. There are still a few hours until I have to show up at the company. Afterwards, I will take you to the hospital. How does that sound?"

"You want to meet my mom?"

"Yeah. And Krystal too. I don't want her to have wrong thoughts about you and your relationship with me."

Jessica nodded, the smile she gave Yuri filled with affection.

"Tomorrow, we will meet with the representative from the Kim Company I told you about. We are not going to waste time, Sica." Yuri leaned in and kissed Jessica's lips gently. "Now, may I carry you into the bedroom?"

Jessica stopped Yuri's hands that were running up her bare sides to her breasts, and she leaned forward until their noses met. She put her legs around Yuri's waist and pulled the taller girl closer.

"Let's do it here," Jessica suggested in a whisper.

"Here? On the kitchen counter?"

A small nod.

Yuri grinned. She tilted her head to capture Jessica's lips again. Their eyes closed as they melted in their slow but soulful kisses, freed from worries, even if it was just for a brief time.

Yuri and Jessica visited Mrs Jung late in the afternoon that day. Yuri was so determined about it in the morning but when they were in front of the hospital, she turned into this nervous wreck that Jessica just found adorable.

"Yuri," Jessica stroked the taller girl's cheek as they stood in front of Mrs Jung's room, "It’s okay. Mom doesn't hate you, and neither does Krystal. If we tell them how we are going to try handling this mess, they will understand."

Yuri took a deep breath and nodded. They entered the room together and were surprised by the sight of Mrs Jung out of bed, helping Krystal packing and cleaning, clear signs that they were about to leave. The woman and the girl in the room were just as surprised to see Jessica's company.

It turned out that Mrs Jung had received the permission to leave the hospital that morning but had to wait till afternoon to change her cast one last time. She intended to call Jessica after leaving, so that her overprotective daughter couldn't stop her again. But Jessica was even more upset knowing that her mom wanted to hide it from her. Yuri stepped in between to negotiate to prevent a quarrel and earned quite a few plus points from Mrs Jung. In the end, when Yuri apologized for what she had done, she received a forgiving smile easier than expected. Even Krystal's doubts vanished after hearing her two unnies talk about their plan to rescue Mr Jung.

To celebrate the success of being accepted in the Jung family again, Yuri invited the three Jungs to dinner and drove Mrs Jung and Krystal to Sooyoung's parents' house afterwards. By the time she reached home with Jessica, it was already pitch dark.

"Look at the sky," Jessica excitedly said as she pulled Yuri out onto the balcony. "The stars are so beautiful tonight."

Yuri didn't say anything but went back into the house. Jessica hadn't had the time to sulk when Yuri came out again, a blanket in her arms. She put the blanket out on the balcony floor and sat down, gesturing Jessica to follow suit. Jessica's pursed lips curved up into a smile and she sat down next to Yuri, giving the tanned girl a kiss on the cheek. They both lay down and began to study the night sky.

"Did you know I dreamed about a similar scene like this the other night?" Jessica chuckled as she confessed. "You were looking into the starry night sky and said you were matching each star with a reason why you love me."

"And I ran out of stars, right?"

"How did you know?" Jessica laughed. "That's really cheesy."

"But you liked it, didn't you?"

"You said exactly the same in my dream. This really feels like a dejavu."

Yuri chuckled and searched for Jessica's hand. As she found it, she intertwined their fingers and closed her eyes with a content smile on her face.

"You said the stars are beautiful but I can't look at them," she said then. "Do you know why? Because all my life, I've only seen two stars that I can really describe as beautiful." Yuri paused for effect. "Your eyes."

"So corny." Jessica giggled and pinched Yuri's side.

"Hey, your cheeks are red."

"They're not!"

"But your eyes are really beautiful, especially when—Ow! Okay, I get it! Stop pinching me!"

"Stop making me cringe!" Jessica laughed.

They joked around for another while until Jessica suddenly remembered something.

"You wanted to tell me about that girl this morning. What was her name again? Yoona?"

"Oh, right. She's an old friend of mine. Actually, a junior at my high school. We were pretty close and she used to visit me a lot at the Kwon mansion when we were young. Her family moved to China even before I left my family."

"And you didn't meet her again ever since she moved away?"

"I met her a few times but not frequently. We were both busy."

"Why didn't you invite her in this morning?"

"Because we are going to have dinner with her tomorrow night anyway."

"What do you mean? I thought we are going to have dinner with the representative from… Wait, Yoona is the acquaintance in the Kim Company you were talking about?"

"Uh huh." Yuri grinned. "She's quite a beauty."

"I see."

"And she's talented. She's younger than me but she works in a just as big company. The Kim Company is just a branch of her main business in China."

"Hmm…"

"She's not just smart, she's funny and friendly too. She's a little taller than you, her face is a little smaller, her nose a little higher, her brows a little more defined, her eyes a little bigger, her—"

"Just say that you think she's better than me."

Jessica unhooked their hands and turned away in a huff. The tanned girl chuckled and leaned over, pecking Jessica's cheek.

"You know I was just kidding. You are the one and only perfect girl in my eyes." Yuri turned Jessica back to face her and aimed for the blonde's lips. She smiled into the kiss Jessica didn't resist. "Your harmless jealousy is endearing, you know that?"

Jessica smiled and snuggled up to Yuri's neck as the tanned girl put an arm under her head. They intertwined their fingers again and lay still in each other's arms for a while.

"Yuri…" Jessica said. "Sooyoung called me this morning after you left."

Yuri didn't say anything but her ears perked up upon hearing her old best friend's name.

"She said she's hired people to work at the hotel. She wants to return to the city soon with Taeyeon and Tiffany to check on me."

"Did you… did you tell her about us?"

"Not yet. I haven't had a chance this morning."

Yuri sighed. "I don't know if I'm ready to meet her yet."

"Why not?" Jessica tilted her head to look at Yuri's face. "She's your best friend. And I think you owe her an apology, too."

Yuri looked into Jessica's eyes. "I know," she said and gave Jessica's lips a peck. "But now I'm sleepy," she added and squeezed Jessica in her arms.

"Yuri…" Jessica pushed the taller girl away lightly. "Don't be so childish."

"I'm not," Yuri mumbled with her eyes closed. "I just feel really drowsy all of a sudden. Let's sleep here tonight."

Jessica knew Yuri wanted to drop the topic, so she said nothing. She wasn't going to force Yuri to do anything, especially not when it came to Sooyoung. After all, Yuri was an adult and no one else could understand Yuri and Sooyoung's relationship better than the two of them.

"We haven't brushed our teeth yet, Yuri."

Jessica poked Yuri as the taller girl really looked like she was going to fall asleep.

"Hmm… let's skip it tonight."

"Eww. Let go of me. I want to brush my teeth."

"Sica…"

"Kwon Yuri!"

That shout forced Yuri to open her eyes, but she sealed Jessica's lips with a kiss and playfully brushed her tongue along Jessica's teeth. Once done, she grinned at the shocked expression on Jessica's face.

"Will that do?"

Jessica giggled, but she sat up nonetheless.

"No. I still want to brush properly."

Jessica was about to stand up but Yuri already jumped on her feet and slid her arms under Jessica's body. Jessica instinctively put her hands around Yuri's neck and the taller girl lifted her up.

"You're such a princess sometimes, you know?" Yuri grumbled as she carried Jessica into the house.

Jessica leaned her head on Yuri's shoulder with a content smile on her face.

"I know."
