Japanese urban legends are full of interesting characters. One of them is Aka Manto, which means "the red cape" or "the red coat". It is also called Aka Hanten, Ao Hanten or Ao Manto. 

He is a murderous Japanese ghost who haunts girls' toilets. He wears a large red coat and a white mask, to hide his beauty. Indeed, Aka Manto is incredibly handsome  and has a charisma that would disarm any woman. They are unable to resist him, and therefore are easy victims.

During his lifetime, he would have kidnapped a beautiful girl who refused him his love and no one has ever seen them again.

According to legend, this ghost is hiding in the last closet of the girls' toilet and when a young girl has finished her business  he asks her: "What do you prefer, a red cape or a blue cape?" 

(there is another version where he ask if his victim want a red or blue toilet paper but honestly the cape version is way more cooler so let's keep it like that )

If the girl answers red, he cuts her throat so that her clothes are all bloody.

If she responds with the blue cape, he will give her a blue cape that he bought on amazon .

no just kedding he will then grabs her by the neck and suffocates her until her face turns all blue , you preferred the Amazon version ? Welp better luck next time ;) .

 Many smart young women have tried to outwit him, but if the victim answers a third color, white arms come out of the floor and lead there souls into the abyss of hell.

According to certain beliefs, it is possible to answer: "None, I don't need it", which would make the spirit disappear. However, others say that on the contrary, it is also a one-way ticket to hell ( so basically you cannot escape ) .

Aka Manto would be the only Japanese ghost who could not be foiled. It is possible to try to escape as quickly as possible, but the result is always the same: death.

In some versions, it is said that he appears in front of his victim, who obviously falls under his spell. His  large cape blocks the passage, and the girl is trapped in the cabinet.

In a popular story that circulates a lot about this ghost, there is a police intervention that went wrong, somewhere in a school in Japan.

That day, a young girl heard a male voice, coming from the cabinet next to hers, which said: "Shall we put on a red cape ?". Panicking, she ran away without even putting up her skirt, hurrying to tell the professor what had happened to her, and the police were called.

A policewoman therefore entered the bathroom to arrest this individual, while her male partner was waiting outside.

She heard the same voice, asking her "Shall we put on a red cape?".

The police officer who was outside the toilet listened attentively and heard his partner's reply: "Ok, put it on!" Suddenly a cry was heard, followed by a thud. When the policeman opened the door, he found the woman lying on the ground, beheaded, Her clothes were covered in blood her blood .

There are several variations of this urban legend, in one of them it literally tears off the skin of its victims, drains all the blood from their body or hangs them.

In the most funny version, we even add that a person who responds to him "yellow" will find his head sunk in the toilet bowl.
