the country of the legend : japan
The Yuki Onna or the snow women , is a yûrei , which mean a Japanese ghost, and therefore belongs to the youkai a name attributed to the supernatural beings like the spirits, demons and other monsters of the folklore of the archipelago.
Although it has several names, depending on the regions where it appears or the legends which are told about it, the name of Yuki Onna is a generic and easily identifiable name which includes a certain number of "sub-categories", but that doesn't change the nature of that spirit or what it represents.
The Yuki Onna would sometimes be cited as being more than 3 meters tall, of very great beauty and serene appearance but whose evil look would be able to kill.
Depending on the legend , her hair can be black or white, probably by assimilation with snow or in order to blend more easily into the landscape. Her lips are blue, reminiscent of ice or the color of a person who died of cold, and her skin is so pale that it is often described as transparent, only certain features of hes face and her hair then stand out in the middle of the landscape. ; and of course, her skin is very cold to the touch. She is sometimes described wearing a white kimono
she moves without leaving a trace and therefore floats, but it probably does not have feet like all Japanese ghosts (which is not the case with other categories of supernatural beings in Japan). If she feels threatened, she can turn into thick fog or snow.
The most famous legend of Yuki Onna was written by Lafcadio Hearn (or Yakumo Koizumi 1850-1904), essential writer in the knowledge of Japanese folklore, in his collection "Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things" (1904). It was reportedly brought to him by a farmer from the Musashi province.

It was then that he saw in the small room a young women of great beauty and dressed in a white kimono; she had unreal whiteness, long black hair and blue lips. When she walked she seemed to glide above the ground.
She leaned over the old woodcutter and blew his icy breath in his face taking his life from

Then she turned to the young man who was paralyzed by fear, but she was taken pity at his young age or his youthful beauty and said to him: "I will not kill you if you promise never to tell what you have seen tonight. "
