XI

After another epic match with Izuku and Todoroki, the hetereochromatic male came out as the victor, his left side suddenly firing up, and being able to defeat Deku. Right after the match, Iida, Uraraka, Mineta, Tsuyu, and I all bolted out of our seats to check in on our green-haired friend.

"Is he okay? Is Deku that badly injured?" I said, desperately trying to glance at the bedridden student.

"He will be, but I need you all to leave so I can prepare for surgery." Shivers were sent down my spine as I pushed the group out of the room.

"Gomen, we won't bother Midoriya in that time span! Thank you for letting us visit him." We all walked down the hall, a silence overtaking all of us.

"Iida, you have the next round with Ibara. You might want to be alone to calm your nerves or something," I suggested, pulling on the edge of my shirt. He shook his head lightly, smiling at the offer.

"I'd rather be surrounded by people I trust than alone," he commented, pulling at his fifth finger. "But I'm rather nervous. Ibara seems like a very good fighter."

"I mean, not nearly as good as you. Can't you just push her out of bounds with your Recipro Burst?" Tsuyu questioned, pushing her cheek. Tenya stopped, dumbfounded by the simple idea.

"Actually," he laughed, scratching the nape of his neck. "That's not a bad idea." The bluenette turned to me and held a hand out for me to shake.

"Good luck with your match too, (L/N)-san." I took the extended hand and firmly shook it.

"Thanks, Iida-kun. For everything."

I stood face-to-face with Tokoyami a few moments away from the match's start. I had thought of a strategy only minutes ago.

Tokoyami's quirk allows him to play offense and defense. But if I can get both sides of him to play defense, I will be at an advantage. It's going to be tricky, but I've picked up on a skill from Ochako and Bakugo's fight together.

Clouds of dust and debris make excellent distractions and weapons. Dark Shadow would presumably be the offense, because of his reach and power. If I can get him to strike the ground for long enough, he shouldn't be able to see. And because of him striking at maximum force, pieces of rock and cement will flake off from the ground. I can use that as a knife, and shurikens.

A horn blew, signaling the start of the match. Tokoyami immediately started to charge forwards, Dark Shadow looming in front of him. I narrowed my eyes and predicted what times he was about to jab at me. When the phantom was about to strike, its eyes widened a bit, and its mouth closed, coiling up for the launch. I jumped right when he moved forwards, the cycle repeating again and again until I noticed good sized pieces of rubble underneath our feet, and the dust all around.

Now was the chance. I dove right into the dust, further confusing the raven-headed teen. I couldn't hide forever, but had the right amount of time to act. I grabbed a dagger-sized piece of rock and tucked some smaller pieces into my pant belt. I saw a faint shadow of him and the phantom on the other side of the dust. I couldn't tell which way they were facing, so I used Uraraka's strategy and took off my jacket, throwing it at the duo. I emerged from the back, holding the rock in my hand, slicing the air.

Tokoyami and Dark Shadow turned around suddenly, surprised by the course of action. As Dark Shadow parried, Tokoyami was driven back, almost to the base line. Just a foot step away-

In the time I was thinking, Tokoyami lunged forwards, grabbing hold of my shoulders and turned me so my back was facing the outside.

Deku. My first thought was the flip that he demonstrated with Shinso. I intently glared into Tokoyami's red eyes and used all my force, and my body to sweep him off his feet and throw him behind me, getting the wind knocked out of my lungs in the process.

I collapsed on the ground as Present Mic announced that I was the winner. I raised my arm in victory, faintly hearing the crowd cheer over my heart beating and heavy breaths going in and out.

Managing to stand up, I looked at the crestfallen male sprawled on the ground, looking up at nothing.

"Hey, good job Tokoyami-san. It was a good match, you put up quite the fight," I said, smiling, holding my hand out. A smile made its way onto his face as he took my hand and groaned.

"You did well. I'm glad I was able to fight against you, (L/N)." I laughed and helped him up, shaking his hand.

"Good luck in the next round against Bakugo. I do hope you win. You're strong and didn't even use your quirk yet. I'd like to see what power you possess."

When I got back to the stands, the whole crew was waiting for me as I sat down to watch the match between Bakugo and Kirishima.

"You did so well in your match against Tokoyami-kun!" Uraraka squealed, cheering with her fists in the air. I sighed and stretched a bit, calming her down.

"Careful, you're still recovering, Ochako-chan." I then turned to Tenya, smiling and raising my hand.

"You did well! Ingenium must be proud of you." The bluenette's face melted into a smile, but a reluctant one, at that.

"I couldn't reach my brother at this time. It went to his voicemail, but perhaps I shall contact him later." He grabbed my hand and shook it, earning a hard grin from me. Our attention immediately went back to the match, as a loud explosion echoed through the arena.

Bakugo pushed Kirishima back, and with a barrage of bombs, fire and sparks going everywhere, Kirishmia fainted under the might of his opponent. I looked intently at Bakugo, staring him down, since I knew I was going to be up against him.

But it caught me off guard when the blonde looked directly at me and pointed his index finger in my direction. I knew his intentions and glared back.

"You're next."
