XXVI

"Wait, we have a pool?" I wiped the sweat off of my brow as I steadied my breathing. Both hands on my hips, I looked at Tokoyami in confusion. He nodded and gestured to his stuff on the ground next to him.

"I'm currently headed to the school's pool, as Midoriya invited us. Since you're busy training, I realize that this timing may not be the best suited for you-"

"No! Actually, the pool sounds pretty good right now," I laughed, fanning myself. "Training outside isn't really the best option right now. I guess I'll change in my room and meet you here in a few minutes."

"Oh, everyone's here!" I said my hello's to my classmates and wondered why we were even at the pool. I didn't think I was here to have fun. I honestly just wanted to train in a cooler area. Looking over at the girls, I smiled at the sight of them enjoying a nice game of volleyball. Looks great, but really not what I'm here for.

"Alright!" Iida shouted, directing the boys into a group. "Let's begin the endurance training!" Together, we completed sets of different exercises, dry land, and finally took a fifteen minute break. I sat, tired, on one of the diving blocks. To my left, Iida and Izuku were having a chat when all of a sudden Bakugo burst into the pool area, Kirishima behind him.

"There's no way I'd lose to a damn nerd like you! Let's go! Right here, right now, you loser!" I almost started to laugh, holding my mouth with one hand, clutching my stomach with the other.

"Huh?" Bakugo sneered, stomping up to me. "What are you laughing at, quirkless piece of shit?" I burst into laughter, unable to hold it in for so long. My stomach almost exploded and I fell back onto the block I was sitting on, stunning the blonde.

"Hey! Don't laugh at me! Look at me when I'm talking to you! Hey!" Slowly, everyone started to chuckle as my fit of giggles spread.

"Qu- Quirkless piece of shit?" I wheezed, standing back up. "That's all you could think of?" He choked on his own words and remained silent, face flushed red with embarrassment.

"Shut up!" he shouted, getting up in my face. "I'll show you I'm the best when I beat your damn ass in the race!" I whistled, looking behind him.

"That's rich, coming from you, considering you don't have an ass." Everyone, even the girls stopped what they were doing and absolutely exploded, whooping and laughing.

"Damn! (L/N) went hard!" Sero yelled, clutching his stomach as he pointed at Bakugo. Even Todoroki managed a little snicker at the joke. I grinned from ear to ear, leaning into the blonde's face.

"So, how about that race, then? I'm here for it." He growled and glared at me.

"50 meters, let's go."

Soon enough, we were all lined up at the little blocks, crouched and ready for action. I bet Kaminari five bucks that I would be the only one to actually swim normally, instead of powering up, using a quirk. I felt like it would be good for Todoroki, considering he sometimes relies too much on his quirk, but I didn't think he would listen.

Iida counted down and I prepared to dive, googles strapped on.

"3, 2, 1!" We were off, and I dove headfirst into the pool. I heard muffled explosions going on above my head, but I ignored and continued to push through the water, my body gliding, almost cutting through. I turned once I got to the wall and successfully completed the race, not in last place, surprisingly.

"Eat that, you shitty losers!" Bakugo pointed at both Deku and me, laughing. I simply rolled my eyes, smiling. Honestly, I'm glad I could help push him to his limits. Helps both me and him, considering how competitive we both are. I walked back to the shady area and sat down with a satisfied huff, catching my breath.

"Kaminari," I said, my eyes still glued to the on-going race.

"Hm?"

"You owe me five bucks."

Aizawa had appeared and crashed our little pool party, so we all had to pack and leave the school grounds. I was currently walking with Shoji, who I found lived just two blocks away from where I lived.

"We have a lot of down time, and I think this is the best day to relax, so do you want to go anywhere? I can just text my parents and let them know where I am so they don't worry." Shoji thought for a moment before answering.

"My parents are pretty cool with it as well, so I guess we can maybe take a walk? I'm not really looking towards buying anything." I checked the time, biting the inside of my cheek, thinking.

"It's about 5:30 right now as well, so I suppose we can walk and talk a little bit before getting something to eat." One of Shoji's arms sprouted a mouth and smiled, affirming the decision. I gave a grin back and slipped the device back into my pocket and started chatting.

Midway into our conversation, I noticed how relaxed he seemed to be. His normally taut muscles were completely at ease, and his complexion seemed more calm than usual.

"Shoji, I never knew you were such an easy person to be around." I could tell that he was caught off guard, as he quickly turned his face the other direction, leaving me unable to see his expression. The corners of my lips lifted, seeing how flustered he'd become.

"Thanks for walking with me," I said happily. "It feels nice to relax once in a while." He nodded, finally regaining his composure and turned back to face me.

"So," he replied, "Do you mind if I pick the place to have dinner?"

"Not at all."

Soon, we were sitting at a table, waiting for our food. We'd walked to a local outlet and popped into the food court there, since it wasn't far from our living spaces, and from what Shoji had said it "has the best takoyaki you'll ever eat."

"Order 42!" the cashier called. I stood up and walked over to go get it. She smiled at me, the two blonde buns on either side of her head bouncing as she happily greeted me.

"42, here's your order, two 6-piece takoyaki boxes! Enjoy!" Peeking from under her lips were two fangs, which I spotted as I got the tray and said a quick 'thank you.' As I walked back to our table, my mouth started to water.

"Damn, these smell really good," I muttered under my breath, setting the tray down.

"They taste really good too." I was caught off-guard and blushed, embarrassed. Shoji gave a laugh and took one of the boxes.

"It's been a week since I've had one of these and I'm starving," he complained, taking out his chopsticks. I picked up the other box and opened it, looking at the sustenance inside before taking a bite out of one. My eyes immediately lit up as a wave of aroma and umami hit me, making my eyes close and my mouth feel like it was in heaven.

I hummed in approval, connecting my index finger and thumb to make a "perfect" sign.

"See? I told you it was good." I could hear the lilt in Shoji's voice, both showing smugness yet excitement. I laughed and continued eating, making light conversation with the male sitting in front of me as the evening quickly came to a close. We were done eating and gathered all of our trash, dumping it in the bin.

"We should probably head home now, as it'll get too dark soon," Shoji suggested, pointing up at the sky. I nodded in agreement and we started to walk back home, discussing important matters about what the UA had in store for us in the training camp.

But someone was watching.
