Prologue

That song above is the theme song of this book

War. Death. Cries. Yowls.

Thats all that sounded in the usually peaceful forest that dreaded night.

Two cats in particular were the center of the fight, if one of them died, one side would fall.

A Sandy Tom weaved through the fighting and snarling cats as he made his way to the leader he was after: Bloodstar, Sandstar's old friend.

Bloodstar didn't see him coming, she just continued to snap at a younger apprentice that had tried to attack her, but failed miserably.

Sandstar leapt off of is paws and stretched them towards the white and red she-cat. His paws knocked her off her own and sent her sprawling on the ground.

She let out a hiss of rage as she scrambled back to her paws. The cats around them moved back to fight and Bloodstar lunged at Sandstar, clawing and slicing at his face and then making an unexpected twist in midair and landed gracfully on all four paws as she jumped back to dodge a blow from Sandstar's unsheathed claws.

She swiftly dove under his body and sliced at his underbelly as she slid under him, and she slid out from under him with ease, nipping at his back legs causing him to jump.

As she slid out, he slammed down on her, causing her rythmn to be haulted.

She unsheathed her claws and raked them across his muzzle, drawing blood.

He let out a cry of pain as her terribly sharp claws sunk into flesh.

"What's the matter, Kittypet," she teased him with a sneering growl. "Can't handle a little blood?"

He growled at her taunt and sunk his claws into her chest fur. She unsheathed her back claws and battered them against his soft stomach, causing him to stumble back a little.

She flipped onto her paws and walked towards him, her eyes gleaming menacingly.

The two began fighting again.

Sandstar growled and knocked her over, and swiped at her head causing her to crash backwards.

Before he could kill her, "FireClan! Fall back!" Yowled Bloodstar as her cats retreated

Smart move, thought Sandstar.

His cats, IceClan, gave yowls of triumph.

Sandstar led his cats back to camp.

That night, Sandstar left his den to look around. He saw the medicine cat, Dappleheart, staring at the stars

"Another prophecy, I presume?" he teased his long time friend with a smirk as he sat with her.

Dappleheart's gaze upon the starry studded skies didnt seize. "I think so." she said, which surprised Sandstar, for he had been joking.

"Explain?"

Dappleheart turned her gaze to the sandy leader, and her blue eyes were no longer playful, but serious and very eerie.

"Stars in the sand will not shine again until the thistles draw blood so it rises from the shadows"

Sandstar frowned. "But what does it mean?" he questioned the younger she-cat.

"Perhaps we wait. We shall wait, Sandstar," she said. "Perhaps we wait"
