Chapter 13
Levy P.O.V
Everything was sore, like I had gone a few rounds with Elfman or Gajeel. Gajeel! I forced my eyes open and met the dark infirmary ceiling. The lights were off and the window was dark. I quickly sat up and looked around, startling Wendy who had started dozing off by a bed next to the window. " Levy, your awake!" She said as she got up and hurried towards me.
" Gajeel," I murmured, my throat was crazy dry and I coughed a little. I tried not to notice the sad look that crossed her face for an instant before she pushed me back into the bed. " You first." She said but I tried to get back up. " Levy please. You first, and then we can get on with Gajeel." I sighed but nodded before letting her check me over with her magic. " Well, everything checks out ok. You were asleep for three days because you used up all of your magic, but your good now." She said with a smile.
I gaped at her. " Three days?!" I gasped and she nodded. I gripped her shoulders. "What about Gajeel?!" She sighed a little and pointed to the bed she had been sitting beside. I stumbled out of bed and rushed to it, pushing open the partially closed curtain. There he laid, his black hair spread out across his pillow, eyes closed as he slept. He was slightly pale and his breathing was labored but he seemed fine.
" The void magic had done some major damage along with the stab wound." Wendy said quietly as she walked up beside me. She carefully lifted the blanket to show his bandaged chest and gently touched it, causing him to flinch in his sleep. " As you know, the damage done by void magic is extensive." She said, glancing down at my leg as she put the blanket back down. " You have your water magic that helped fend it off. Gajeel doesnt, so he's gonna have to stay here for awhile. I will be healing him everyday and he should be able to go home by the end of next week." She said and I nodded, my eyes never leaving Gajeel.
" Has he woken up at all?" I asked quietly. " Briefly. Once he found out you were ok he passed back out. I'm going to be honest Levy... We almost lost him." I stared wide eyed at her and she looked like she wanted to cry. " We got him stable with Lady Porlyusikas help." She sniffed and I pulled her into a hug. " Thank you Wendy. For everything." She nodded a little and wiped her eyes. " I will give you some time with him. I'm gonna go get some food." I nodded and she headed downstairs. I sat on the edge of Gajeels bed, moving some hair off his sweaty face. " Ok metal face... You need to get better and wake up ok?" I said, my voice hitching slightly.
I held his large hand in my two small ones, gently tracing the lines of his palm. I was so focused on his hand that I didn't catch the oceany smell until she was right behind me, and i jumped as her hand landed on my shoulder. " Are you alright daughter?" Tsundera asked softly. I looked back at my mother and I felt tears prick my eyes. She pulled me into a hug and I clung to her. " He will be fine sweetheart." She said quietly as she stroked my hair.
It took me awhile to calm down but when I did she smiled at me. " What are you doing here mom?" I asked her and she smiled softly. " Lucy called me up at Lamia Scale and told me. Sherry had just finished teaching me anyway. Turns out I'm a natural." She said with a grin. " We got a hold Metalicanna and Erza too, since we will need all the strength we can get. We haven't been able to get word to Grey and Igneel yet, so Natsu went to find them." I nodded.
" Come on, let's go get something to eat, you must be hungry." I was going to turn her down when my stomach growled and I blushed. She laughed and pulled me down to the bar. Most everyone was gone for the night and I greeted those who were there. " Wow, got left behind did ya?" I smirked at Lucys pout. " Yeah. Didn't even wait for me." She whined. I giggled and ate with her, our conversation easily moving to books. I appreciated the distraction, it took the worry off the front of my mind, but it was still there. When everyone finally left I talked Mira into letting me stay with Gajeel in the infirmary, Theo and Lily with me.
The two exceeds fell asleep on one of the beds as I sat with Gajeel again. I had gotten a book from the library and was reading when I smelt it. I took a deep breath and narrowed my eyes, moving to the window. I pushed it the rest of the way open, letting the scent hit me full in the face. The smell of death and hatred. " Zeref."
{Whoot, no more writers block!}
