UA, All Might's office.
Once Shinsō was done with getting as many answers as possible from Toga, Deku went to meet All Might at his office of U.A. There were details about his investigation to be discussed and questions still to be answered, so they would have lunch together there, like they usually did back at school.
"Then we don't even know what is inside the briefcase this girl was about to deliver?" asked a confused All Might.
"No. The briefcase is locked and is attached to a mechanism which will blow it to pieces, content included, in case anyone attempts to force it. The only safe way of opening it would be introducing a code" Deku explained. "Thank God Jirou detected it on time..."
"And thanks to Shinso's *persuassive* persona, we know for sure Toga wasn't told about the content or this code..." All Might understood.
"Yeah. All she confessed was that the League of Villains had a new project which involved the illegal matches managed by this Mexican mob. She was there to make the delivery, but whatever the deal consisted of, it was sealed by Shigaraki himself previously".
"He has become more cautious through the years" All Might couldn't blame him. The teacher took pride on the UA's new generation of heroes, especially on his successor. But he wouldn't lose hope on his deceased mentor's grandson... "I heard about these mobs when I was a student in America. Really bad eggs. They make both criminals and desperate people to fight until they don't breathe. And it is said that the brutality in those matches is beyond imagination. I'm so glad these five were able to stop this one and return unharmed...".
"I made my own research" Deku placed a folder on the table. It was full of articles cut from newspapers, photos, prints from the Internet and notes of his own. All Might was puzzled. No wonder why the boy looked so tired. "I haven't made a lot of progress though..." he added. All Might looked at his pupil with concern.
"Is everything ok?" the young Midoriya didn't look as full of energy as he usually did.
"Sure, it's just..." Deku didn't know how to end the sentence. However, there was no need, because then the office's door was knocked.
"Toshinori? Are you in there? Is Izuku with you?" asked a female voice that almost made Deku fall from where he was sitting.
"Y-yes we are here! Come in!" stuttered All Might, who wasn't expecting her either.
"Mom? What are you doing here?" Deku asked, genuinely surprised, when she entered.
"Excuse me? More like what are YOU doing here!" Inko Midoriya reprimanded her son. "Do I have to remind you that you are getting married next week?"
"But Mom! This is about work!" Deku replied.
"No buts, young man!" his mother said in a stern tone. "No more work as a hero at least until you come back from honeymoon!" she stated taking the folder from the table.
"All Might, I'm gonna need some help right here..." Deku begged.
"Inko, please, we were just..."
"And you!" the caring but energetic woman addressed the skinny blonde teacher, making him jump on his seat. "I knew you wouldn't be far, encouraging him! You know how much he still admires you. You should be telling him to catch a break and focus on organizing his own wedding!"
All Might was instantly disarmed. For all those years he had given his best to guide the future new Symbol of Peace, a title the young Midoriya, much to his pride, would be only inches away from earning. But his boy was a human too, and he was about to step into something that would change his life in the same measure. And that was only one week away from happening.
"I haven't forgotten about it! But there could be something important going on!" Deku tried to explain.
"Izuku! Are you telling me right now there is something more important to you than your wedding with Ochaco?" it was really rare to see Inko Midoriya talk so sternly to the son who would always be perfect in her eyes. And those last words had hit him like an All Might at his finest's Detroit Smash.
"Shouldn't you be with your future wife? Shouldn't a man like you be just... happily getting ready for his wedding?" Toga had laughed. "That is... if you actually want to get married...".
"I'll leave you two so you can talk..." All Might was about to stand up. This was between mother and son. He had no role to play there.
"No, please, stay. This is your office I came with no prior notice and I'm sorry to interrupt. Besides... I think this concerns you too" she apologized. "I was with Ochaco and her parents discussing the last details. Everything is almost ready, but these last days you have been missing some preparations" Inko more calmly told his son, who at the moment wasn't saying a word. All Might gently made the woman have a seat at the table, by Deku's side.
"I am worried about you. And I know Ochaco is too" she took the boy's hands like only mothers could do. At the sight of Deku's ashamed eyes, she continued:
"When you entered the U.A. to realize your dream of becoming a hero, I promised I would support you with everything I had. Eight years later, I have done my best to fulfill that promise and, from then to this date, each day I have been more proud of you. No matter how hard the situation was, you always found a way to become better and overcome any problem. I know you have worked harder than anyone to be the Hero Number One, and you absolutely deserve that honor. However, I never wanted it to be everything for you, now you had been able to have friends and feel fully integrated somewhere. I wished you had something more than battles after battles and the public's ovation" the stern tone of voice had totally been gone. Inko cleared her throat before getting to the next point:
"This is why, when you brought that girl home and told me you were officially a couple, I couldn't have been happier. She was cute, kind, sweet and loved you the way few people manage to deserve. And when some months ago I knew my baby was getting married..." she held her tears the best she could. "I'm sorry... I'm trying to say I understand you are under a lot of work and pressure. Ochaco also understands and has supported you through thick and thin. She is conscious that she fell in love with a man determined to replace the great All Might and she wouldn't prefer you to be any other way. And I know you love Ochaco and want to marry her. After all, I was engaged once too. I just want you not to forget how important it is to you, despite the pile of work you are buried under. This will be a unique occasion for both of you. And we are all happy because of it".
"I... don't know what to say..." Deku muttered with his eyes still down.
"I know you will do what is right, like you always do" she hugged him. "Whatever it is what you are working on, there are many heroes who can take care of it. Now you must get ready to start a new life, before getting back to what you do best". One could never get tired of admiring such inner strength. If there was something the former Symbol of Peace himself had learned from Inko Midoriya was that some mothers were the best and most unsung superheroes.
"And... why deny it, I can't wait to see you in the altar and someday become a grandma!" she suddenly was 100% joyful. "Say what you will about paparazzis, but they are right and you are definitely the cutest couple!" she flashed a smile looking at something in her phone.
"Oh, Mom, come on!" Deku protested, with a lighter bright in his eyes. "Don't tell me you kept that photo we were taken last week!"
"Young Midoriya... your mother is correct" All Might finally said. "I trained you to be the best, but there are crimes and mysteries everyday, and other heroes can handle this. I'll keep those papers" he said taking the folder back. "Now we'll go outside and we will have the conversation we should have been having instead. Thank you, Inko. Leave the rest to me" he said putting Deku's research away.
"Thanks to you... Sensei" she bowed her head before getting up. "I have to go. I have to get Eri a candy apple for her good marks. She's happy you will spend the last days before the stag-party with us". Eri had been living with them since she was old enough for Secondary School, where she would prepare her entrance at U.A. The Midoriya mother knew she had a strong bond with Deku since age six and the big admiration she had for him. Inko had been delighted to help raising another child, especially one that looked at his son like they were actually family. Now Deku and Ochaco were living together she didn't feel so alone. "See you tomorrow Izuku! Remember: you are done with work" she said before getting out. "And don't forget to call Ochaco! Don't have her worried!"
"I won't! Bye, Mom!" the boy looked better right now.
July 2nd, 14:45.
The UA's rooftop.
Having an ice cream with that view from the rooftop was priceless. All Might had chosen the best place to start that new conversation.
"All Might... I actually wanted to talk with you about this..." Deku sighed.
"You are nervous, aren't you? It's just natural" All Might knew he would need emotional support. "Listen, I wish I had some experience on this I can share with you..."
"That is what I'm talking about" Deku said, enjoying the sight of the place where he had the best days with Class 1A. "You would never have thought about this before becoming the Symbol of Peace".
"I can't say I wasn't worried when it was revealed young Uraraka and you got that close. Crushes at High School are unavoidable. Do you remember what happened during the second time at the Camp, don't you?" All Might had a bittersweet memory about it.
"Sure I do..."

FLASHBACK
Six years ago, during the second time at the Hero Camp hosted by the Wild Wild Pussycats...
After a day of hard training, the students from Class 1A had been divided in different bonfires during the night. Deku, Bakugou, Kaminari, Todoroki, Shoji, Tsuyu, Mineta and Kōta were sitting around one of them while All Might told them a story about one of his past battles.
"That was cool!" Deku enthusiastically said.
"Yeah, well, you knocked Muscular out the same way, didn't you?" Kōta was not that impressed. The kid had become more respectful when it came to heroes, but there was only one who had saved his life taking all risk himself.
"He's right, ribbit. Your Quirks are quite similar" Tsuyu said touching her chin. That made Deku, All Might and Bakugou get tense, especially the two students. It wasn't the first time the frog girl said that.
"Indeed..." muttered Todoroki, looking at the fire.
"Er... enough of stories! Who wants to play a game?" All Might nervously asked, trying to bring their attention to other subject.
"Now I think of it, that is why you use to meet at All Might's office after class, don't you?" Shoji joined the conversation those three definitely didn't want.
"Well, well... it looks like Midoriya has his own secrets..." even Mineta was looking at him with suspicious eyes.
Bakugou narrowed his eyes and tried to quickly think of what could make them quit the interrogation and forget about the idea of Deku keeping a secret. Then she came up with something. Not a big plan, but...
"You are right. There is something he thinks he can hide from us" he grunted.
"Ka...Kacchan?" Deku was mortified.
"Deku... you are the worst when it comes to secrets, aren't you? You've been cornered, you nerd. It is too late to keep it secret..." Bakugou added, as if he was blaming him for something. All Might tried to understand what the spike haired was doing. He wouldn't reveal the secret of One For All...
"What do you mean, Bakugou?" inquired Tsuyu, with a curiosity that Kōta and the rest of the students shared.
Bakugou looked at his rival for a moment. Deku wasn't going to like it. Then he shrugged and focused on the flames like he had lost all interest in the subject.
"The idiot has a crush on the Round Face" he finally said, making most of the present people's jaws hit the floor. As stupid as it sounded, they would buy it, preventing them from digging anymore.
"W....!" Deku was beet red and his face looked exactly what Bakugou was expecting, but it didn't matter to him.
"You mean Uraraka?" asked Todoroki. That was unexpected.
"Whoaaa! Really?!" Kaminari cried, hitting a non-moving Deku with his elbow in a teasing way. "You told us nothing, lovey boy!"
"Well, it is understandable that you wanted to keep that to yourself. But that explains why you spend so much time with her..." Shoji opined through one of the mouths he was able to create.
"You think that is a big deal? I have a crush on each and everyone of the six!" drooled Mineta.
"You know, Mineta...there is an H for Hormones... and an H for Heart..." Shoji rolled his eyes.
All Might was relieved his boy wasn't going to be submitted to unwelcome questions, but he was also feeling bad for him. He looked unable to move or talk. Anyway, a fake gossip was a small price for keeping the origins of young Midoriya's Quirk safe.
(TIME SKIP: later that night...)
Bakugou had waken up and noticed Deku wasn't inside the tent. Cursing, he followed Deku's footprints into the woods. He found him not far from there, backwards.
"Deku, you dumbass! What the hell are you doing here, in the middle of the night?" he rudely asked. Deku didn't move a muscle. "Don't you dare to ignore me!" Bakugou claimed, coming close to him. "Are you crying because I made up that bullshit so you weren't discovered? You should be thanking me, dammit!" Deku was still backwards and not giving an answer. "DEKU! ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO...!" as soon as Bakugou harshly put a hand over his shoulder, Deku's green lighting punch crashed against his face sending him flying against a considerably distant tree.
"WHAT...THE...FUCK..." Bakugou got up in pain and rage, "...IS...WRONG...WITH Y...?!" much to his surprise, Deku attacked him before he was fully ready to create his explosions, smashing him through the tree, which fell. Whatever it was, Deku would never beat him at going berserk.
He roared and anticipated his next moves. But he also thought about the possibility of them being caught fighting in the middle of the night... again. "Listen up, you asshole, if we...!" Bakugou created an explosion to stop his front assault, but if he felt any pain, he simply ignored it before he tackled him to the ground and get back to punch his face repeatedly.
"You...just...can't...keep...your...mouth...shut up...can't you?!" an unusually furious Deku asked while he grabbed his right arm against the ground and immobilized his also furious yet shocked opponent.
"That's enough!" Todoroki's voice was heard from behind, but before they looked they were trapped inside the ice. He had followed them, knowing there was only one thing those two were able to do in private. Deku had no choice but to chill.
"Mind your own business, Icy-Hot!!" Bakugou yelled, while Todoroki used his left to release them.
"It's not my business" the red and white haired coldly replied. "But it is his" he said, pointing to All Might, who had just arrived, with a mix of confusion and frustration in his face. When Deku saw him, he realized he had no reasonable explanation to give him...
(END OF THE FLASHBACK)
***************
"I'm still sorry about it" Deku admitted, covering his face with a hand. "Among all the countless times I've fought Kacchan, that was the first and only one I started it all. And there was no excuse for it".
"It was absolutely reckless" All Might nodded. "Young Bakugou was just trying to help to keep the secret the only way he came up with. The problem was that his affirmation wasn't a just a gossip... and it wasn't fake at all..."
"Honestly, I didn't think too much about until that moment. But when I realized it was true... I just got mad" he remembered ashamed. As insensitive as Kacchan was, his intention was different.
"Well... young Uraraka turned a name created to bully you into your hero name. If that doesn't make you fall for a girl, nothing will..."
Deku took a bite of his ice cream before making the question he feared so much. "All Might... do you think... I am made for this? I mean, sure I love Ochaco with everything I've got. The thing is... sometimes I wonder if I am the best for her..."
"I won't lie. Getting married was never something I considered in my path as a Pro Hero... but I am not the same person I was when I started... and I owe that to you. Times have changed and even as similar to my young self as you are... you are still special in your own way. You still want to be the Symbol of Peace and save the people with a smile so they can be happy, don't you?" All Might asked.
"Of course I do! But... I also want to make Ochaco happy..."
"Then there's nothing left to discuss! If you want to make people happy... start by making young Uraraka happy! She's going to be your wife after all!"
All Might was right. And after all, it was also thanks to her affection and support he had made that far. To him, there was no hero path without Uraraka either.
"And I don't want to hear *what if happens this* or *what if happens that*! Even if you didn't marry, you think nobody would notice the way you look at each other? You are made for marriage, heroism and far more, kid!" he decided to adopt his muscular form for the few seconds he could to mark his words. "Next week, you will stand in front of your future wife, you will look at her and remind everyone why you are one of a kind!" All Might declared. "And I'll make sure of taking a good photo of THE golden moment" he smirked.
"Thank you, All Might. You are definitely playing the father figure here..." Deku chuckled. It was moving to receive all that support for years.
"Oh, you are making me blush".
"Speaking of which... since when does my mother call you Toshinori?" Deku asked with true interest.
All Might abruptly returned to his original form and almost choked with the ice cream.
End of chapter 6.
Good God Almighty! I thought I wouldn't be able to finish this chapter!😂😂
I wanted to compensate you all because the last one was too short and kind of meh. So, Deku was worried about the mysterious briefcase... but Mama Midoriya came to the rescue! Dammit, kid, you are getting married!
As usual I am waiting for opinions, this time especially about Inko's intervention, the fact Eri lives at the Midoriya's house and the backstory where Bakugou "reveals" something he wasn't even aware it was true.
Honest Fiction hopes you like it and waits for your comments. Seriously I have a great time reading and answering.
Thanks for reading! Hasta pronto!
