It was a nice day sun shining birds chirping in the forest you could see a large female cat carrying two bundles of fur one brown and black the other orange and black the she herself had an orange pelt that was sleek and glistened in the suns rays her green eyes shinning with the promise of tears to come as she pads through the forest until she stops by a willow tree that was partially hollow she sets the kits in a hole in the tree
"Mama? Mamma what are you doing?" The young black and brown kit a tom squeaks curiously
"I'm sorry baby." She mews the tears starting to trickle out of her eyes

"Why mommy cry?" The orange and black kit a she asks looking at the big orange she with worry

The tom looks to his sister he replies "mammas sad. Why you sad Mommy?" He asks the big she-cat

"I'm sorry Wolfkit...just take care of each other wolfkit and halfkit..." She mews looking away as the tears fall more freely then running away the same way she had came there then was a howl of a wolf not to far away soon there was another howl much closer soon more howls came along with a bunch of excited yips and barks

"Mamma? Mamma!" The kits cry from where she left them
