Learning About You
Shu stared at all the dances in astonishment. Sure, the other princes thought it weird that the Prince of the Moeru kingdom looked like he had never been into an opening ceremony before but all of them knew the reason. Some shared pitiful glances as some annoyed, but everyone was staring at him. He was a new figure, hidden from the world for years and years. But now seeing that certain person right in front of them was like magic. The rumors went around would quickly fade away for they have already seen the Prince, a true beauty, a true pure innocence. Shu didn't realize that many of the citizens were staring at him. His deep red orbs were fixed at the ceremony. It was beautiful. He had only heard of these things by his maids and butlers and now witnessing that from his own two eyes was like a dream coming true. Shu turned to Valt who had the same excitement.
"I never thought an opening ceremony can be this majestic."
Valt smiled sheepishly. "They are amazing but the food is more amazing"
Shu blinked. "Food?"
Valt grinned. "Yeah, man Shu you should've seen the big cakes they have arranged. I swear I can eat them a lot"
Shu leaned back to his seat crossing his arms. "That sounds just like you Valt"
Valt grinned. "So, Shu! Are you excited? Well...I am, We will make new friends and just imagine the fun Shu. You're finally out from the castle and I'm really happy about that"
Shu gave him a tender smile. Out huh... He thought gazing up at the clear blue sky. Soon enough his parents would leave and he would be alone going through everything alone. It would be the first time in his life that he would stay without any of the maids or butlers even his parents throwing off concerned looks that he might faint at each second. He inhaled the fresh air deeply as a thought tackled his mind. "I'm finally free"
Lui closed his eyes. He was not a party person and never had been. Seriously he could not understand why people waste their time on these kind of things when they can use this valuable time for do something meaningful like...of course training. He clicked his tongue and opened his eyes to look around the students. The people he would be living for the next few months if it turned out to be good maybe years. He was relieved because Gou was with him. His violet eyes sets upon the mystery prince. He clicked his tongue in frustration. Why did they need to bring a sick person to a school which shaped fine warriors? He thought frustratingly.
Shu blinked feeling someone watching him and turned his head to see fiery violet eyes watching him with pure hatred and disgust. Shu felt his skin crawl. The prince of Hyoketsu didn't break the eye contact as he continued staring making sure that Shu understood that he hates him and Shu does not belong here.
Shu broke the eye contact turning his head away from the boy. He was aware about the hatred between the two kingdoms and he despised the Hyoketsu kingdom but when he came here he thought that everyone would be friends and they might get along maybe even end the war and have peace forever but seeing the hateful glare of Prince Lui made him think twice about his own decision. Something glistened bright red under the pure white bangs. A scar: a memorial of his own humiliation, one of the sole reasons to hate Hyoketsu and a painful reminder to show how much of a weak person he is. Shu bit his lips casting his eyes down as he gripped his seat. He wanted to show them, and he's gonna show all of them that he's a strong person and the Kurenai kingdom is much stronger than they think it is.
It took a while for the end of the ceremony. After that all the kings and the queens got up from their seats to give their kids the blessings and leave them in the hands of the headmaster of the school. Shu walked to his own parents who was standing a few steps away from the others. Shu smiled. "So, I'm finally a free birdie aren't I?"
King Kurenai smiled ruffling his son's hair. "Indeed you are my son, but be careful. The world is full of dangers and it's not beautiful as you think"
The Queen knelt beside him with tears shining on her bright scarlet eyes. Her hands reached Shu's shoulder as she held them in a firm grip. "You remember everything I said right?"
Shu nodded reaching his hand to wipe a stray tear leaking from her mother's eye. "I will be just fine mom, I'll write to you. I promise"
The queen smiled tracing her thumb over the cheek of the young prince. King Kurenai cleared his throat and knelt beside the queen looking straightly at Shu. "You wouldn't be able to just rely on your fire powers, you'll need a weapon" He said taking out a large bundle wrapped up from the finest red silk made in the kingdom. "This will help you with that"
Shu took it to his hands and unwrapped the cloth. His scarlet eyes widen in surprise as the weapon gleamed in elegant gold, pure white and royal red. Shu took it to his arm, it was surprisingly light and easy to use. He held the axe and looked at his parents. "The mighty axe of Spriggan"
The king nodded. "Indeed my son, it's made from the finest iron in the kingdom and it will be easy to use. Consider this as an early birthday gift from me oh and" The king said reaching to the axe and pressing the ruby which decorated the handle. The weapon started to shrink in his arm and at last there was a golden ring with a ruby.
"How did you?" Shu asked in surprise.
"I convinced the magicians of the east to make it happen after some long talks they agreed. Do you like it?"
"I love it dad" Shu said putting on the ring as he raised his hand to the sky admiring the gleams it gave out reflecting the sunlight. He wrapped his arms around his parents tightly. "I'll miss you two so much" After a while they pulled away from their warm hug. Shu let out a small breath looking at his parents. "This is the good bye then?"
But before his parents could answer someone talked behind him. "Kurenai, long time no see". Shu spun around in his heel to meet up violet orbs, the certain violet which glared to the depths of his soul. King Shirosagi smirked. "So this is your little boy? Hid him from the world for long enough"
Shu felt his dad tense behind him. "That's none of your business and if you kindly excuse us we can have some more family time Shirosagi" Shu shivered when he realized how much his dad hate this man standing in front of them. The venom dripped from his voice as he pronounced his most hated enemy's name. Shu looked at the Shirosagi siblings, a prince and a princess. He had heard about them from his maids. He also heard that the young Princess Yuki who was at the same age as him adored his elder brother but now looking at the fury of Prince Lui's face he could not really see how can a person adore someone like him.
He dismissed the thought as he saw the glaring competition of the two kings. They looked like they were ready to draw out there weapons and slaughter the other right at the spot. The hatred radiating through them was real and Shu looked at mom who shared the same worried look with him but on the other hand Lui and his mom and sister did not care anything at all. They just stayed neutral as if they expected it to happen. But thankfully King Kurogane broke the heated incident between them.
"Now now gentleman let's end this for now, the headmaster is calling all the students for some quick discussion, I think it's better if you let your boys go and join the others"
King Kurenai calmed down first, he ignored other's gaze and turned to Shu. "Be safe Son, we need to get going now". Shu nodded and after one last hug the parted their ways. Shu watched his parents leave the arena.
Behind him King Shirosagi turned to his son. "Well Lui I won't have to tell you to be safe, you are the best and keep staying in the top unlike some people" He said glancing at Shu. Shu kept his mouth shut as King Shirosagi continued. "We'll get going son" He said. Shu turned to leave when he saw Lui hugging his sister.
"He must love her a lot" Shu thought absentmindedly walking to the group of students waiting till the headmaster arrived. He heard the last parents which was the Shirosagi family leaving the arena and Lui walked passed him to a boy who was slightly taller than Lui and had brown hair. He looked kinder than Lui and more sociable. Shu shrugged the thought off as he looked around to find Valt.
He haven't talked to anyone else since he came here. And he knew relying on Valt always is not practical at all and he didn't want to be a bother to him. Shu sighed. "My social skills are dense as a brick" He thought absentmindedly as he stood alone away from the group. The truth is he saw Valt with a group of friends and Shu did not want to bother him anymore and besides he had been alone in his whole life, now it doesn't make any-
"Shooting star" A voice rang behind him making Shu's thoughts cut out. Shu turned around to see Prince Kurogane standing behind him, his light blue eyes shone with excitement as he looked at the Red Eyed prince with a cheerful smile. Shu blinked processing what he just said. Shu quietly looked at him not sure what to say when he finally asked in a faint voice.
"Shooting Star...?"
"It's a new name for you! You indeed look like a shooting star for me. Anyway welcome to the Akarui kingdom. I'm Zac the sunrise, feel free to call me Zac"
Shu gave him a confused look. "I thought you're Prince Zenkuro Kurogane?"
Zac smiled fondly. "That's my real name, but I go with Zac"
Shu stared at him for a few more seconds and nodded his head. "Got it, Zac"
"So, Shooting Star what are you doing standing here alone? Come on with me, I'll introduce you to some good new friends there are lot of students around here" Zac said taking Shu's wrist as they pushed past the crowd of students who were talking with each other. Shu did like the idea of making friends but the problem was he did not know how to. And he had good reasons for not being so sociable. He lived all his freaking life inside four walls like a prisoner. Shu thought Zac would make a good friend until he saw where Zac was leading him. It was Lui, Shirosagi Lui who looked extremely creepy and cruel. Zac dragged him to them with his enthusiastic personality and stopped suddenly making Shu trip on his feet and fell head first to Lui with his head hitting the latter's chest.
There was a moment of silence and Shu moved his head and took a step back in lightning speed. He could swear that he had never been this fast to do something ever in his life. He did not dare to look at the other's face. Even without looking at him Shu could feel the fuming anger radiating from the other. "The hell are you think you're doing? Can't you even stand straight?" He snapped making Shu flinch.
Shu took a deep breath raising his head to look straightly at the furious boy in front of him. "I did not-" Shu said but was cut off by Zac. Shu frowned. What's with this people and cutting him off all the time?
"Sorry, Sorry Lui, it's kinda my fault. I dragged him here"
"Of course I saw it you flashy idiot, why the hell you bring him here? Just go and dump him anywhere else or send him back to the Moeru."
Shu frowned. Even though Lui was insulting Zac, he did not mind at the least. Of course Lui was insulting him too but they are enemies but Lui and Zac are supposed to be friends as he heard. Does insulting each other remarks strong friendship or something? Shu thought. This is getting way more complicated.
Zac grinned releasing Shu's wrist as he wrapped one of his arms around Lui's shoulder. "C'mon mate, no hard feelings. We all are friends here aren't we?"
"No" Lui replied almost instantly not giving others even the time to blink. Shu just watched as the conversation goes on. Zac was complaining about the cold demeanor of Lui while Lui snapped at him telling he don't need friends. Shu tilted his head thinking whether backing away would be a good solution for escape from this because he was hell as sure that sometime soon Lui would be snapping at him too.
"Shu" Valt called him. Shu had never been this happy to hear Valt's voice. Right now Valt was like his own angel. Bless you Shu thought coaxing a smile as he turned around ignoring the other two prince's who was still having an argument. Valt walked to him with one more companion with him. Talk about giants, the guy walking with him really was a giant. Shu had to strain his neck to see the guy's face. He was muscular and tall and Shu wondered whether he really is fourteen or not. Valt placed his hands on his hip. "This is Xander, the prince of the Chikara kingdom and we're good buddies. You two will surely get along"
Shu let out a laugh. "It will take a pretty much effort to talk to him"
Xander grinned showing his sharp teeth. "Of course, make sure you don't strain your neck in the process"
Shu bowed slightly as he introduced himself. "I'm Kurenai Shu from the Moeru Kingdom, nice to meet you"
"Heard about you a lot but you're different from what I imagined though" Xander said thoughtfully but before Shu could reply to his comment a man came to the arena silencing everyone gathered there. He was well built even larger than Xander who was standing beside him. His sharp dark eyes reminded Shu of a hawk, it was like he was listening to what you were thinking. Dark slightly curled hair was long to his shoulders. His tanned skin and the scars littered his body proved that obviously he's a warrior. There was another scar on the bridge of his nose and his tanned sharp features gave him a demeanor of a cruel and strictness.
"Gather up" He demanded. A chill ran through Shu's spine as he watched the man. The deep echoing voice of a warrior, and everyone unconsciously did what they were told, no one's eyes leaving the massive figure for a single second. After everyone settled down he spoke up again. "From today on I'll be the one taking care of each and every single one of you and I'm the headmaster of the school Himemeya Sashi. Life is not easy here and I won't make it easy. The only way to survive is to do as I say and follow the rules. We'll be starting the training from tomorrow, you're all excused to have some rest today, the servants will show you the way to your rooms" He finished his small speech. No one uttered a sound as everyone let the words sink into their hearts. The silence was broke by the rush of servants guiding them to the rooms.
