Winter Thing Idk
So this was just another school writing assignment. Basically we were just given a writing prompt a while back. The prompt was to write about walking through a forest while it starts snowing. Well, I asked if I could use a character for this instead and my teacher said yes so uh, yeah here's another lazy piece of garbage.
Footsteps sounded from the forest floor below, softly landing on the bright autumn leaves and emitting a light crunch from under their feet. Looking around, the girl gently inhaled the cool fall air, smiling in delight as she felt a gentle breeze blow through her hair. She was far too young to be out alone, only six years old, yet she enjoyed being outside. Hauling herself onto a log, she sat down and stared across a crystal lake, her dark blue eyes reflecting its shimmering glow. Holding out one hand, she pulled off her gloves and smiled, a pale snowflake landing on her palm and making her laugh.
"Wow...", she breathed softly, feeling it melt against her skin and turn to water once again. Raising her head to the sky, she found herself seeing thousands of little stars floating her way, wisping around through the air in a lovely pattern. The ice crystals covered the trees, making them reflect the soft sunlight that filtered through the puffy white clouds. A shiver passed through her body, chilling her bones and making her gasp, yet she refused to leave and head home. Putting on her blue sweater, the girl sighed in relief, sliding off the log to adventure once again.
Breaking into a run she laughed and passed swiftly through the woods, her dark brown hair becoming speckled with white and flowing gracefully behind. Her dress puffed up as she lept over a frosty log, landing in a pillow-like pile of snow before continuing on again. Ahead of her, a river stretched, magically growing into a starry sheet of ice in the blink of an eye. Grinning, she charged for the river and slid across, never once losing her balance or slipping on the glass. Once again she ran through the trees, putting her gloves back on and pulling her scarf over her nose as the wind rushed against her face.
Confidently, the little girl burst through some bushes and sent snow flying through the air, giggling as she twirled and collapsing onto the soft ground. She made a snow angel and grinned, proud of her work, then proceeded to lie there and chuckle as she stared up at the sky. Reaching into her pocket, she found her excitement die down as she fished out a pocket watch and glanced at the time. 6:30, it's getting late, she thought to herself. Mother won't be very happy with me if I don't return now. Sighing sadly, she shoved the watch back into her pocket and closed her eyes, breathing in the cold air once more before sitting up.
Before she could rise to her feet she heard a familiar voice call to her through the trees. "Scarlett!", her mother cried, her voice ringing loudly through the woods. Rising to her feet, Scarlett glanced at the snow-covered forest, thinking about the exciting tales she could tell her family when she got home. "Coming mother!", she exclaimed, smiling at the forest blanketed in white one last time before vanishing into the undergrowth.
