REASSURANCE
▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂
Sometimes when (Y/N) looks in the mirror she couldn't help but ask: How can someone as perfect as Muzan choose someone like her?
She admits it was a bit silly questioning their relationship that had been going on for years, but can you really blame her? Especially now when Muzan would come home very late each night.
She didn't want to doubt Muzan. If anything, she doubts herself more. That perhaps, she wasn't good enough for him anymore.
Still, it didn't change the fact that it had stung knowing that he would rather be doing this behind her back than confront her about this himself. And perhaps she could just be overlooking things and it was her low confidence that poisons her mind. Of course at the back of her mind, she still holds on to this doubt.
One day, (Y/N) went out to go grocery shopping. Well that was what she had initially planned to do, but she hadn't expected to see him on her way to the grocery store.
(Y/N) felt her heart shatter into pieces.
He wasn't alone. He was walking with another woman in broad daylight. She wouldn't think of anything else, but the woman was clinging to his arm and Muzan didn't seem to mind it.
So she was right after all...?
She didn't have the nerve to confront Muzan about this in public, she instead turned around with a choke sob and ran away.
Not aware that a pair of red eyes had caught sight of her disappearing form.

"Have you known about this Douma?" (Y/N) asked, still weeping. Thankfully, the blonde male had given her a handkerchief to wipe her tears with.
Douma tapped his chin. "No, I never realized that Muzan would even cheat."
"Of course I did too either..." (Y/N) gripped the cloth in her hand tighter, "but there were signs. He's coming home late, he's getting quite distant lately, and earlier he was with a woman..." she grimaced at that.
"Did you talk to him about this at least?" He asked.
"..." (Y/N) shook her head, earning her a half-lidded gaze from the male beside her.
"You know," he suddenly sprung up, slightly spooking the female, "why don't we go somewhere to relax your mind a bit? I know a great place!" (Y/N) didn't get much choice as he practically dragged her.
"Douma!" But her exclaims of his name went ignored.
He drove to a place near the beach and it would've been recognizable to the (h/c) haired female, but her mind was still out of place. Then he had said to her that they have to walk from here and (Y/N) just slowly followed behind him.
It was around sunset, but (Y/N) found it odd that there were no signs of people anywhere. She stopped when she noticed that the male in front of her had stopped walking.
(Y/N) looked confused before it finally made her recognize where Douma had brought her.
This is... She bit her lip as she observed the restaurant in front of her. This is the place where she and Muzan had first dated.
She turned to question Douma, but the male only let out a closed-eyed smile before he started to push her.
"D-Douma?!" She asked in confusion but found her losing her voice when her eyes landed on a familiar figure leaning against the guard rails.
"He did take a long time bringing you here," Muzan chided with annoyance evident in his voice and (Y/N) turned back to Douma, but was bewildered to see no signs of him anywhere. "Come here (Y/N)," she turned back to Muzan to see him facing her now.
She did come closer to him, but still far away from his touch. Muzan turned back to look at the shore just in front and below them and (Y/N) did the same. She could only let out a bitter smile as she couldn't outright appreciate the beautiful scenery.
"This place brings valued memories," she heard him say, "and I have been planning to take you here again for a long time."
She bit her lip, still feeling bitterness. "...Why?"
"Am I obligated to explain why I need to date you?" He asked, looking at her.
"No! Why do all of this if I'm not even the first person in your mind?!" She exclaimed.
"(Y/N) look at me," he said and (Y/N) slowly but surely looked at him in the eyes. His red eyes pierced through her and she felt herself flinch. "Do you honestly think I would cheat on you?"
"Then what was with that woman earlier?" (Y/N) asked with a glare.
"Is that what pushed your mind that I've been cheating on you?"
"Stop answering me with more questions! Just answer me directly, please," (Y/N) whispered out.
"No, I have no relationship with that woman," Muzan scrunch his face as if disgusted at the mere notion of having personal connections with her, "she was a new worker but she did not know personal space and I simply had to fire her immediately."
(Y/N) still had the sour look so he replied, "I admit I have been focusing too much on the job these days, that's why I have to return home late. But that's not my issue here. Why would you think I would cheat on you?"
The (h/c) haired female only shamefully looked down again with guilt.
"(Y/N) is this because you doubted why I chose you?"
She remained silent and shook her head.
"Or is it because you doubted yourself again that you're not good enough for me?" He was answered by her wince. He let out a sigh and went closer to her. He gently gripped her chin and made her look up at him.
"(Y/N) you need to cease these ridiculous thoughts. I never made a mistake of choosing you," he wiped the stray tears on her cheek with his thumb. "And I don't want to remind you time and time again that you are always breathtaking."
(Y/N) felt a huge weight was lifted off her chest and Muzan was elated when he finally saw her softly smiling again. He then started guiding her to a table. She sat down and he sat across from her.
"I'm not," (Y/N) embarrassingly looked at her casual clothings, "dressed appropriately for this situation..." she said as she eyed his fancy attire.
"It's alright," he straightened his posture. "I reserved this place so we will be the only customers for the rest of the evening," Muzan called for a waiter after the female nodded at this. "Though I did want to tell Douma to let you dress up at least, I had first considered your state of mind."
"When did you tell Douma about this?" She asked, right as the waiter came by.
"I messaged him when you stormed away earlier," (Y/N) nodded at this, still a bit ashamed how she acted earlier, and the two of them ordered what they wanted on the menu. "Would you like Champagne?" Muzan asked. "It's been a long time since we drank and relaxed together."
After what she just went through, (Y/N) agrees that drinking a bit to relax wouldn't be so bad. "Yes," she nodded and Muzan ordered that as well.
The food arrived first and the both of them reconciled for their lack of interactions—enjoying the full night sky view and the delicious foods.
Finally the champagne arrived but (Y/N) was fully emerged in her eating so when the waiter set the champagne glasses down and she looked up, she found herself freezing up.
Because one of the empty champagne glass contains a platinum ring with a red diamond.
She turned to look at Muzan, speechless, but found him already taking the ring from the glass and walking towards her.
Muzan took her hand gently up to his face and kissed it. "As a reassurance that I wouldn't commit infidelity, I would like to make you officially mine," he stared dead straight to her eyes once again.
"(Y/N), would you do the honor of becoming a Kibutsuji?"
Her mouth opened and closed, unable to process the sheer joy and love she had felt upon finally hearing those words from him.
"Yes!" She exclaimed, and felt herself almost crying again out of joy.
Muzan let out a small, but satisfied smile at this and pushed the ring on her ring finger. He pulled her up to him and the two shared their first, passionate kiss as engaged couples.
