thea is a bit of a wild spirit, though that may be because she is a product of her environment. she's never been one to hold back-and admittedly it's gotten her in trouble more than a few times-because she believes that she should never be anyone but her true self. thea has never been one to sugarcoat-because of this, many have called her blunt. her honesty is a blessing as well as a curse, which is why it takes a certain type of person to get along with her-some people simply can't stand hearing the truth.
one should not mistake her pretty face for an empty mind-thea is incredibly intelligent, and things such as academics come to her easily. although she's not on the level of photographic memory, she does have a knack for remembering things, from book passages to the name of the great uncle of a stranger she met months ago on the streets. thea doesn't like to feel uninformed or uneducated in a situation, which is why she strives to always know everything. luckily for her, pais is filled to the brim with culture and history. if thea had grown up under different circumstances, it is likely she would have made a good academic or scholar-she's the type of person you'd want to be paired with for a group project.
despite never being truly "care-free", thea can a very fun person to be around. due to her circumstances growing up, she's learned to enjoy all the little things in life. she can find fun in even the most mundane tasks, and will try her hardest to create an environment she likes. thea is big on individuality and self-discovery, and loves to explore different aspects of life. she enjoys big festivals and celebrations, which occur often in pais. as the saying goes, "there's never a boring day on the streets of pais".

growing up, thea lived in a lavish, expansive sort of mansion-unfortunately, she didn't own it, nor did her family. no, it belonged to a man by the name of leander pagonis; thea was merely a maid there, a servant.
she had been plucked from an orphanage along with a few other girls at the ripe age of seven and thrown in with the maids of mr. pagonis' household, meant to be raised by them so she would grow to only know his ways.
the young girls were taken under the wing of the maids, who had once been in the same unfortunate situation as them. thea bonded the most with an older woman by the name of alexandra. alexandra taught a young thea how to properly dust shelves and carry trays, but also how to read and write. it didn't take any of them long to learn the rules of the place-and of the consequences that mr. pagonis would give if they didn't comply.
although there were many intriguing rooms in mr. pagonis' mansion, thea's favorite was the extensive library. she would often nick a book that caught her eye and skim through it in a secluded area of the servants' quarters (or in an empty part of the house if she was lucky). this only caused her hunger for knowledge to grow.
as the girls grew older, their conditions only worsened. mr. pagonis, who was originally just ill-tempered, now lashed out at the maids frequently, abusing them both physically and verbally. the women grew more frail and weak, practically unfed and uncared for. to make matters worse, pagonis had begun to throw big, messy parties with drunks and drug addicts of which the maids would have to serve at and clean up after (a number of times his guests became very violent).
thea, who was highly fed up with mr. pagonis' bullshit, began to perform small acts of defiance. it started with "accidently" spilling things in front of him or breaking things, but quickly evolved into her making snarky comments under her breath, just loud enough for him to hear. mr. pagonis would not tolerate this, and hit thea often, usually followed with a threat to rid of her or make her life worse than the conditions of tartarus.
one morning changed everything for thea (who was now seventeen). the maid had never done anything past her little acts, because although she acted bold, she was truly scared of what pagonis might do to her. she had been hiding in a little nook in the library reading some book about the trojan war when she'd heard loud crashing as the scream of one of the girls, clarissa. thea had leapt to her feet immediately, horrified to see that pagonis was knocking over shelves and throwing books at clarissa, who cowered on the ground. it was only when he had grabbed the girl that thea's feet began to move, carrying her swiftly down a flight of stairs and straight towards the scene.
thea started screaming at pagonis to leave clarissa alone, but that only enraged him more. he tossed the girl to the side, storming his way over to thea. realizing her own mistake and the danger she was now in, thea attempted to make a run for it. pagonis advanced on her quickly, and as she turned she grabbed a heavy book about kathodos and made the motion of throwing it. unfortunately, pagonis was too close, and he caught her wrist in his large hand, causing her to drop the book.
thea screamed with everything she had, and as the book fell, it fell open. upon its old pages, a symbol of three snakes with blood dripping from their eyes flashed. when she swung her other hand to slap him across the face, it resulted in a violent scream-surprisingly, it wasn't from her.
her hand had left angry welts on his face, and they seemed to sizzle as she pulled her hand away. he loosened his grip from her other hand, and drew it back to reveal burns that were just as horrifying. as she drew her hands away she brushed more of his skin, and the same nasty welts sprouted up. horrified by her new found abilities, mr. pagonis left his mansion screaming, thea in pursuit.
once she had escaped, she made quick work to alert the authorities of what had been going on in the pagonis household, and he got thrown in jail. the maids who had been trapped there were finally free to live their own lives, and most went their separate ways (including alexandra, though her and thea she write to each other often).
thea was free, but she was a bit lost as to what she would do with her freedom. she decided it would be a good idea to attempt at a job and try to be independent, and it worked out better than expected. now thea lives a nice, comfortable life, free from pagonis. she loves exploring her individuality and self-identity, and is often trying new styles. she loves music, and will often go out to watch and listen to the street bands in pais. with better access to resources, thea has immensely grown in knowledge. she loves to learn and loves to socialize.
thea learned to manage her blessing, and she carries around a pair of gloves wherever she goes. she was living a content life when the great earthquakes started in pais, and naturally this was the start of her research. she knows of the curse on kathodos, and the different rumors of who placed it. she was in the middle of her research when she was chosen for the grand selection (though how they found her is a mystery).

- she's blunt. thea certainly has a filter, it's just not a very efficient one. if you ask for her opinion, you're getting the honest truth, even if you don't like it.
- she has a strong personality and doesn't like to be bossed around. she doesn't submit to authority very easily (but perhaps that is because of her past).
- she's ambitious. perhaps too much so. when thea has a vision in her mind, she'll do everything in her power to make it come to life.
- she needs to know everything. how does that saying go? curiosity killed the cat...
- she holds a lot of grudges. thea holds grudges way too easily, which means you might get a taste of her blessing. she tries to wear the gloves on those occasions, but what can she say? some people had it coming for them.

thea isn't entirely fond of them. it's true that the people of kathodos don't know much about the royal family, but thea can't help but resent how mysterious and cut off they are. she's gotten a good taste of pais in her (near) five years of freedom, and she can't imagine why the royals would never visit the region-especially considering the castle is in pais. there is so much culture and history, as well as a liveliness to the cities. it's a shame they don't come out and enjoy it for themselves.
nonetheless, thea is intrigued to meet them. there's a bit of a thrill knowing that she'll be one of the first to step foot in troi since the trojan war, and one of the few to get to know the royal family for who they truly are. there have been many rumors about the royal family, revolving around the curse and magical powers; thea is secretly hoping those rumors are true. if one of the princes catch her eye-well, let's just say that thea is going to have a lot of fun.

despite the fact that she was selected due to her blessing, thea has felt drawn to troi. she wants to witness and explore ancient history. the rumor that helen's heart was hidden in the fountain of aphrodite intrigues thea, and she would be lying if she said she didn't want to go and check it out for herself. she also wants to learn more about the mysterious royal family.
other than the history and rumors, thea has decided to join simply because she wants the curse broken. she's only gotten a short time in pais, and it has torn her soul apart to see the lively, bustling streets torn apart by the earthquakes. if there is something she can do to break this curse and save her beautiful home, she is determined to do it.

originally, thea was unsure of why the furies chose her to bless; after all, she was merely a maid. when thea started her own life, she dove into research about the gods and goddesses, as well as the symbol she had seen. thea learned that the furies (also known as the erinyes) were three goddesses of vengeance and retribution who punished men for crimes against the natural order. thea believes that because justice needed to be served for pagonis and she was the first to retaliate against him, the furies chose her as their way of following through with justice. this theory has been somewhat proven, as sometimes she see signs (usually the symbol appearing again) that will encourage her to use her blessing on someone.

poisonous touch
thea was blessed with physically poisonous skin; if someone comes in contact with any skin on her body and she is holding a grudge against them, her skin with burn them. the severity of the burn depends on how deep the grudge is, and how long she's been holding it. the burns always fade (the longest it has taken was an hour). the bigger the grudge, the longer it will take to fade. on a few rare occasions, her burns have left scars. her blessing doesn't work through clothes, which is why if she has a grudge against someone, or multiple people in the room, she'll wear gloves.
